If it makes landfall on Thursday, the weather shouldn't be bad enough on Saturday to cancel the game. Unless you guys are thinking there will be enough infrastructure damage to impact the game (no power, etc) I'm not sure there's much to be concerned about. In short, your roads are fine.[Edited on September 10, 2018 at 10:26 AM. Reason : ]

WV has to arrive Friday or Thursday. That seems highly unlikely. The field will need to be playable. We might be talking 2x the amount of rain we got in Matthew. And refs and essential personnel (stadium staff, etc) need to be able to travel to the game. I don’t think it’s gonna get played. They’re also talking about the storm hitting and then slowing down and stalling for a bit. None of this bodes well for the game happening.
9/10/2018 10:44:04 AM
from what I've seen. the center of the storm will be over Raleigh around 2am Saturday. WE aint playing.

Lets not kid ourselves. Its on ESPNU. If there is power such that TV cameras can broadcast, there will be a game.

^^ yeah I know. Which is why I said it was further down the list and not a deciding factor. But I can’t imagine we would want to play back to back road games (involving air travel, not bussing to Winston Salem) in the lead up to ACC play. It won’t be the deciding factor but isn’t the ideal situation. It’s just one more reason that probably makes moving to WV a little harder [Edited on September 10, 2018 at 2:56 PM. Reason : or maybe travel won't matter at all, just seemed like a less than ideal way to roll into ACC play]

Just move the game to Morgantown. Make the call now and try to get the game next year moved to raleigh
9/10/2018 3:17:23 PM
I know a bunch of ucf people that were coming up this weekend and pretty worried now. Weird to get a trip OUT of FL canceled bc of hurricane
9/10/2018 3:21:25 PM
UNC and UCF both benefit from canceling their game for UNC avoiding another slaughter, and UCF weakening their SOS by slaughtering UNC. I'm not sure what the best scenario for State is. I think we had a decent shot playing them at home but if we move the game to Morgantown our odds get significantly worse. I'm not sure they would be willing to work something out where they swap games, either. I think delaying the game a day or two, moving it to December, or just outright canceling it seems like the most likely thing to happen.

campus shuts down after 5pm Wednesday if that is any indication. probably not but fwiw

We have no desire to play @WVU this year. The goal is to have the game at home this year(better odds of winning) and then go to WVU next year when Grier is gone and have a much better shot of winning there.Honestly we'll play on Sunday or wait and make it up at the end of the year(conference championship week if neither of us are involved in a game that week). It will hurt our shot at 8-9 wins but I don't see any upside to traveling to WVU this year, esp. since we'd have to travel up probably tomorrow or early Thursday to avoid the storm.
9/10/2018 8:30:51 PM
Yea we aren’t giving up that home field
9/10/2018 9:54:46 PM
i don't see why we'd re-schedule for the end of the year. if it can't get done this weekend, neither team has much to gain by playing a late season OOC game. 1) if neither team is in their conference title game, they almost surely aren't in the CFP discussion. so SOS and quality wins won't matter. 2) unless a team is stuck on 5 wins, trying to make a bowl then it won't really matter either. and in that case, we'd probably try to schedule a scrub team to get to 6 wins for that week instead of sticking with WV.FSU rescheduled with UL Monore last year....but they needed the win for bowl eligibility and ULM was a guaranteed win. not really the case with this game.[Edited on September 11, 2018 at 6:20 AM. WVU can go to hell with that bullshit spin. We asked them to consider moving it to Sunday. Their HC said "no". They asked us to go to WVU. Our staff said "no". Not sure why it's our fault that we don't want to give up homefield advantage and try to travel in the middle of a major hurricane to play a game on Saturday. We either travel early and miss prep time, or we travel on our normal schedule and depart as the hurricane effects are being felt. Oh well, another week to prepare for Marshall and IF we end up playing WVU, we'll have Angeline back.

Also lol at NC State refusing to go to WV. If WV can’t travel here safely how can we travel there safely? That’s a pretty silly thing to say.
9/11/2018 9:45:05 AM
If we did move the game to October 13th, we'd get some valuable extra practice in against @Marshall, UVA, and BC. It's not like we were going to go to Death Valley and win so I'd actually like our odds better in this scenario anyway and hopefully we'd have some additional guys healthy and maybe get our run game better established.

I don’t see what’s to gain by moving the game and taking away our bye (which is conveniently in the middle of the season). ACC play is more important than this OOC game.

Yeah, have fun if they move it to oct. 13th. There will be ZERO parking for that game, as the Wolfpack Club/University would have to find parking for all the students as well as everyone who currently has passes for whatever the lot is at the horse barn. The last time they had a game during the fair they used the back of the horse complex for parking, but that is now used as livestock trailer parking. This game is only gonna get played in December or not at all.

Officially cancelled.

Sucks for all those WVU fans who were buying tickets at $200+ a pop. Maybe they'll show up if we replace the game with ECU.
9/11/2018 2:31:34 PM
I wish we had scheduled the other way around, then we'd be canceling the Marshall game and have an extra week to prep for WV at home.Does this change the number of games we need to win to be bowl-eligible? Since we have one less chance to get there?
9/11/2018 4:43:40 PM
How is this different than the ND hurricane game 2 years ago? Seems like the storm will be west of Raleigh or pretty weak by the time Saturday rolls around. I'd assume ND flew from IN, but WV seems more driveable. They probably don't want Wayne Day Family Field fucked up for the rest of the year.
9/11/2018 5:04:59 PM
^I advise reading the news.
9/11/2018 5:31:15 PM
a hurricane was the only way we were stopping will grier but our running game is booty this year so i guess they figured it was best to just erase the game from the schedule
9/11/2018 5:40:07 PM
No this doesn’t change our bowl eligibility. Still win 6 games. And Matthew hit on Saturday. ND was already in town. This is different with the storm’s arrival time. And it’s obviously stronger than Matthew. Lol at being mad about a football game being postponed. It’s not that big of a deal.
9/11/2018 5:49:18 PM
^^^ lol
9/11/2018 6:01:17 PM
I don't want Will Grier to have chance to push in our shit. Soggy conditions help us out a little, but player, staff, and fan safety is paramount.
9/11/2018 6:12:44 PM
So whats everyone gonna do on Saturday instead?
9/11/2018 8:18:07 PM
drink beer, which is what I planned to do all along
