yeah I'll just echo what most have been saying last page, clearly a difference between golden state and the recent miami, but lebron did kind of set the precedent (well maybe boston too), miami was more comparable to what the cavs are now and look how they just fared against golden state, can't imagine we've ever seen anything like this golden state group

That Miami team was the epitome of a super team and ring chasing. None of that bothers me as the whole goddamn point is trying to win. But there are people on here who think Durant is a punk for going to the Warriors when LeBron did the exact same thing, twice.

Lebron didn't go to a 73-win team that just won a title the year before. It's not "the exact same thing."

yeah this really can't be overstated.

we can quibble over how similar the situations are, but why does it even matter? the point is to win.

Lebron is just unreal.

Lol at creating a super team. Miami was a super team for a whopping three years and they had zero depth and extremely limited role players. Nothing like golden state at all.

And cleveland is far from a super team. No chance they even make the playoffs without lebron. Its tough to argue that either kyrie or love are top 50 players. They are just awful when lebron sits. Beyond awful really.

What are they like 2-17? And -17 pts/100 possessions?

The Miami Heat were a super team. The revisionist history is insane.

These were the expectations going into their first season:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYe8B--jrbs

Are they comparable to this GSW squad? Nah, GSW is a super-duper team. 73 wins + KD is stacking the deck moreso than any other squad has done in the past. Outside of injury I don't see how they lose a title between now and 2019/2020 when they have to resign Draymond and Klay.

But the Heat absolutely were a super team. IDK how Lebron can say that with a straight face.

IDK what Cavs can do from here, outside of hoping they can trade Love for another wing (Jimmy Butler/Paul George/Melo) to help them match up with GSW.

I am loving this title more and more because it shows just how fragile Lebron's ego is. He grew up showered with praise and adoration and any slight against him sends him into a tizzy.

Yeah, he's one of the greatest players ever (I'd say top 5, but no way top 3) and while he's definitely the best player of the last generation or so, the amount of excuses his blindly devoted fans make for him is pathetic.

Have people actually forgotten about "the decision" already by completely erasing it from their memory? The motherfucker made a damn television special to announce to the world how he and his buddies were joining forces to assemble a super team so he could finally win a championship instead of wasting his time with the Cavs and rotting away in shitty ass Ohio. IIRC face even made some BS thread saying that first Heat team would beat the Bulls wins record (or something like that) and he also claimed the Bobcats wouldn't even win 10 games or another retarded claim. Not a super team? Um, OK. I guess if you want to change the definition of a super team to fit whatever Lebron says a super team is.

Yeah he's won three rings, but he's been to the finals how many times now? He's basically the GM for his own damn team and they still couldn't get it done. The East is weak as fucking shit too.

If he's smart, he should start making the transition to team owner ASAP, because if he loses another Finals to the Warriors he's going to implode ala Kayne or Mariah Carey. He's a fucking diva and you people need to stop making so many damn excuses for him.

You guys, Kyrie was hurt again in game 5. That's why the Cavs lost. They totally would have won the series otherwise.

I've been in Thailand and Singapore the past few days and I haven't watched Sportscenter since before I left for my trip, so I'm not trying to emulate anyone. I did read Lebron and Ty Lue's delusional comments saying they were right in the series and if they hadn't lost game three they would have won though. Gave me a nice laugh. The Kyrie excuses were cute too.

My flight lands around 9:35 am Thursday morning, which is perfect timing for the parade. Have fun making excuses for "The King" on your computer while I'm day drinking with the champs in Oakland

Lebron may be a whiner, but he is a top 2 NBA player right now and has been. The fact that a 73 win team had to add a superstar to beat him means that he is that good! [I know Curry was hurt and Draymond got suspended, but Lebron played lights out last year when it counted.]

" Even though the Cleveland Cavaliers dropped the NBA Finals 4-1 to a Golden State Warriors team that averaged a staggering 121.6 points per game in the championship round, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue doesn't feel like his team is that far behind The Beast From The Bay.

"They beat us tonight," Lue said after the Warriors turned a three-point lead early on in the fourth quarter into a 14-point cushion before settling in for the 129-120 win to end the series on Monday. "I don't see a big gap. I thought we played well, got better each game. But against good teams you can't give away games, like Game 3 at home, and then expect to come here and win in a hostile environment."

""After I hit my dang knee on the floor, after that my lower back started to tighten up," Irving said. "And as the fourth quarter started to happen, a lot of shots and layups that I normally make, they just weren't falling. So that kind of took the wind out of my sails."
"

Quote :
""Not one time did I feel like we were overmatched until probably like I looked up, there was like 1:20 [remaining in the fourth quarter], and we were down 13, I believe, or something at that point," James said. "And I was like, 'OK, we left everything on the floor, and it still wasn't enough.'"

"We were able to get them last year, and they went out and got one of the best players that this league has ever seen, so they did a good job of -- a great job, their front office and their players, by doing that recruiting, the things that they did in the summertime, and obviously it paid dividends.""

I'd assume defense/not being able to make others better on offense are the main offenders. I don't agree and think face is severely overlooking his play in last years finals, but the arguement is there.

IDK how you can rank 5 players ahead of Lebron though. MJ/Wilt/Kareem are only comparable for me. So hard to compare different eras though. The game has changed so much over the years.

If they're 'real NBA' fans, they're probably not all that excited since the two best players (Lebron and RW) didn't win this year, right? The Ws ruined the NBA for everyone.

I'd rather be a 'fake' Ws fan and go to two victory parades in three years, than a 'real' NBA fan who's going to sit at home at watch it on TV

It's total shade. The same exact shade he threw at Steph last year when he won the unanmious MVP and he made those dumb ass comments about what "most valuable" really means. He's a diva and a hypocrite. Sorry it bothers you so much that I keep repeating it. Maybe Lebron should stop trying to define terms altogether since he sucks at it.

You can't blame the Warriors. I mean they drafted most of their super team and an unusual set of circumstances led to being able to add Durant. You know who else could have signed Durant this offseason? Every other team in the NBA. Sure he chose to go to GS but that was his choice and they definitely could have still won the title without him this year. Just because this was easily the best super team assembled doesn't mean that what LeBron did wasnt the same thing at that time. I'm actually glad they managed to snag that title last year though because it tainted that 73 win season. Even though I am not a huge LeBron fan it was cool to see him bring a ring to Cleveland and chances they manage to get another in the next 2 or 3 years is pretty slim.

Lebron is still the best ever but curry and durant are players unlike the league has ever seen. And they are on the same freaking team surrounded by other all stars and high end role players

Its crazy to put this team in perspective. In an evenly distributed league, west, livingston and iggy would all be the 3rd piece of their team's big 3. They would all be the 2nd best player on Lebron and Iverson's first finals team. Iggy would have been the best defender on the Jazz's finals team.

I, too, am suddenly a Warriors fan!

It feels good to be a champ!

This is the first time I have experienced success in life, albeit it may be vicarious, but I'm a champ now! All of you other NBA viewers must be jealous of my association with GoldenState... I don't know if you heard, but I'm a GSW fan and we just won. Enjoy watching the parade, chumps!

JCE's GoldenState Warriors are on the path to success for the next 3 years!

^^he's complimenting your team and organization. "assembled" is what all teams do to form a roster...whether via draft, free agency, or trade. he's simply stating the fact that GSW lost in the Finals last year...then improved their team in the offseason and did not lose this year because they went out and got better. that's all fact...and none if it seems like shade to me, a fairly unbiased party.

right, because he was complimenting the winning team/organization on making improvements to the roster that fell short of winning the title a year ago.

the "super team" comment was odd and most of us recognize that he was wrong. but he complimented the organization for putting together a team that won the championship...that's a compliment and you seem to be the only one with any sort of issue with the phrasing, i haven't heard or read anybody else echoing what you're saying. all teams are assembled. that word is not a shot at GSW. it's not shade and i certainly don't see how it's an "excuse"....his "excuse" is that GSW had a great team?

Not disagreeing with that, but people are obviously still watching the NBA and the Finals regardless. I said it in the thread before, but only a handful of teams have won a title in my lifetime. Yeah, it's annoying as a fan to endure another team's dynasty/success, but that's life. I'm going to enjoy the next few seasons while I can, because nothing lasts forever.
