I literally look like right now. About to break a sweat I'm so mad.

So it's legit to blame the ump for this one?
5/20/2014 3:29:01 PM
meh left too many men on base to blame one call IMO.
5/20/2014 3:33:18 PM
I wasn't watching. Weren't the bases load on that one call? So we would have gotten a run and still had two guys on base? Seems like that could have made a big difference.
5/20/2014 3:36:00 PM
Then you throw in the questionable strike 3 call in the 8th (I think) on a 3-2 pitch. That call goes the way of the batter - which based on the replay it should have - and State would've loaded the bases again with no outs. Instead the home plate ump rings him up on a very questionable call on a check swing, doesn't ask for help from the umpires with a better view and the guy 2 batters later flies out with 2 in scoring position. If the bases were loaded the guy who flew out would've been up with 1 out instead of 2.State blew tons of opportunities, but the one time they came through (or at least when Turner came through) they got screwed by an umpire not even looking at the play happening at his feet.
5/20/2014 3:40:31 PM
^^Correctplus in the 8th the same ump called strike 3 on a check swing instead of deferring to 1st base ump. Replay showed that he held up which would have been ball 4 to load the bases with no outs. So when Trea got up to bat it should have been bases load and 1 out and they would not have been able to put him on.[Edited on May 20, 2014 at 3:44 PM. Reason : I was too slow, but yeah ^]
5/20/2014 3:42:57 PM
too many blown opportunities. Blown calls happen in lots of games. Too many times we had the bases loaded and either had infield popouts or swinging k's to put too much blame on the umps. Perfect way to end this shitty season.
5/20/2014 3:55:20 PM
I love the wannabe objectivity. Especially when you are flat wrong. UNC stranded plenty of RISP. That was just the way this game was being played with pitching changes every other inning. In games like that, yes, HUGE blown calls that directly negated runs can be the difference.
5/20/2014 4:04:46 PM
5/20/2014 4:09:56 PM
so because UNC left runners on base that means its ok that we did it? Theres a reason these two teams were in the play in game. They're not good. At all. And we all saw that today. Blown calls or not.
5/20/2014 4:11:01 PM
Regardless of whether we're not good, the blown calls potentially were the difference in the outcome of the game.
5/20/2014 4:11:59 PM
Oops. Didn't see who I was responding to. Sorry to feed the troll.

^ I mean....do we? Swept by Maryland, FSU, Miami....lost 2/3 to Duke and Boston College. Took 2/3 in the last 3 series......against GT, Wake and VT who all finished in the bottom half of the league. This team has a few good/great players but they're not a good/great team and they don't belong in the NCAA Tournament. Even as a fan I can say that.[Edited on May 21, 2014 at 2:50 PM. Reason : sdf]
5/21/2014 2:50:11 PM
Yeah this team cost itself a shot at post-season play with games they gave away. They choked away games the last one against FSU, the last game against Duke, and also lost tons of close games in the Miami series, the BC series, Rodon's 15 K start against GT, final Wake game, etc. Just didn't have the offense this year and didn't have a good enough rotation and/or bullpen this season to make up for that lack of offense like they did in stretches last season.
5/21/2014 2:55:24 PM
Season officially done.
5/26/2014 12:45:24 PM
Although that outcome was both merciful and inevitable, I'm still more disappointed than I ought to be.
5/26/2014 1:12:14 PM
A cursed program...
5/26/2014 1:14:02 PM
Looking at the bright side, at least Avent can't abuse Rodon's arm anymore.
5/26/2014 2:04:16 PM
Avent is a golden g-d, what you talking about
5/26/2014 3:19:25 PM
Just saw my first UNC is in the NCAA tournament and state and duke aren't...

5/27/2014 11:22:50 AM
Not that it does any actual good, but the ACC head of officials called Avent on Friday to apologize about the calls last Tuesday. Let me know when they'll actually be able to do something about it then and there.
5/27/2014 2:13:27 PM
Has Avent been fired yet?Why do we have a baseball team?Shouldn't guys wanting to play in the pros just go to the minors and get their education after their career is over?

Draft is tonightFrom an interview with Peter Gammons
6/5/2014 8:36:08 AM
^ Gammons went to UNC, he's gotta be pushing an anti-Rodon agenda behind the scenes right????!!!
6/5/2014 1:41:32 PM
And with the first pick of the 2014 MLB draft...
6/5/2014 7:14:39 PM
welpRodon doesn't go No. 1 overall
6/5/2014 7:14:45 PM
6/5/2014 7:15:50 PM
Or second
6/5/2014 7:18:40 PM
Rodon would be an excellent fit in the White Sox organization. He's been wearing their throwback jersey for three years.
6/5/2014 7:19:20 PM
And we've only had those jerseys for two years so that's pretty impressive.
6/5/2014 7:21:28 PM
Whatever. I don't let facts get in the way of the low hanging fruit.
6/5/2014 7:22:46 PM
hopefully he will play a lot in charlotte
6/5/2014 7:25:12 PM
if we can just hang on to Chris Sale for a few more years, the Sox will have three of the best LHP's in baseball
6/5/2014 7:27:39 PM
this brady aiken kid looks like a d bag.
6/5/2014 7:28:05 PM
Go Sox. Here's to hoping Rodon plays some games in Winston-Salem [Edited on June 5, 2014 at 9:44 PM. Reason : ie: the White Sox 1A affiliate]
6/5/2014 9:43:39 PM
he'll prolly never play a game for the Knights down here in Charlotte. I'd be there if he did
6/5/2014 9:45:45 PM
there's also Kannapolis (basically anywhere in the White Sox system other than Birmingham and the Rookie League teams)apparently three of Carolina's commits got picked in the 30s. Gareth Morgan, our mostly highly rated commit (or at least the one expected to get drafted first), is still on the board.[Edited on June 5, 2014 at 11:12 PM. Reason : a]
6/5/2014 11:00:15 PM
^Braxton Davidson, a UNC commit, got picked up by the Braves at the end of the first round. He has already stated that he is going to sign with the Braves.
6/5/2014 11:58:49 PM
And the Mariners just drafted Gareth Morgan at 74 overall. No way in shit he doesn't take the money and run.

So I am still a noob to the MLB draft process. What happens to the pick if the player declines the offer and goes to college?
6/6/2014 8:38:49 AM
Here's a quick explanation from another site on what happens if your pick doesn't sign:
