I completely disagree about PG play. It's insanely important. It's not exactly rocket science to see why UK is winning now despite no increase in production from a guy like Randle. It's all about Harrison's growth.Duke won every game that Quinn Cook actually showed up too.UConn has won a title and made a Final Four almost exclusively due to PG play.** almost invariably title winners have two things. A great PG and tough team defense.[Edited on March 31, 2014 at 3:45 PM. Reason : Z]

Jason Williams was the main reason Duke was Duke a decade+ ago.

Both those guys had a reliable 3pt shot. Lewis doesn't.

^^ meh, I was away so I didn't see that game. Larger point is still accurate. Locally look at the transformation of UNC after Drew left and KM took over.

welp, lock it up

It's for the best that he transferred. He was a desperation recruit that never panned out. He needs to find a conference that fits his level of size/skills. He'd be a nice fit at a mid major where he isn't such a liability in transition defense and on loose balls/long rebounds.
4/1/2014 10:56:24 AM
he was better in transition defense than barber. true fact. barber lost his man in transition constantly. honestly, it's probably the worst part of his game (besides tripping over his own feet while dribbling).
4/1/2014 11:01:30 AM
Yeah just having tyler back on defense is like having no one rotate back. The constant dunksand layups off long rrebounds just wreak havoc when trying to be competitive with college level teams
4/1/2014 1:06:05 PM
He had a legit butterstick

To Butler. Best of luck to him.

So lemme just ask this cause it is on my mind: why is it that a guy like Tyler Lewis can't hack it in the ACC but somebody like Stocton killed it in the NBA? Is it the era that they played in, or are there fundamental skill set differences?
4/5/2014 6:23:08 AM
Stockton was an underrated athlete. He wasn't an explosive jumper or anything. But you don't become the all time leader in steals and assists without some serious quickness and agility. Plus he was significantly taller than lewis. Lewis has skill and a great head for the game. He's just too short and too limited athletically for his driving game to work and he's not a natural shooter. I think with a year off and not having to hit the weights so hard you'll see him start shooting a reasonable percentage from the floor.
4/5/2014 7:13:19 AM
Stockton was a really quick dude. He was also a little taller and leaner. Lewis is shorter and a little "stouter/stumpier" than Stockton. He'll never be quick or fast enough to hack it in the NBA.It sucks...because he really does have phenomenal passing ability and point guard "instincts". I also think he could have been a solid starting point guard in the ACC if he could become a more consistent shooter.

BUT HE'S WHITE!!!!!
4/5/2014 5:03:55 PM
John Stockon has the white man's burden of being compared to all other future white point guards.
4/6/2014 12:36:56 AM
I don't understand why Rodney Purvis wasn't Michael Jordan, being black and all.
4/6/2014 12:44:19 AM
LOL John Stockton is 6ft 1....I love how people always point to me being tall and I should have played basketball...bitch I am 6ft 3 and normally would be one of the 3 shortest on any team.

That guy lost all credibility right out of the gate.
9/30/2014 11:23:17 AM
no offense to lewis, but if hes the future of any team, they're in trouble.
9/30/2014 12:40:11 PM
"Looking at his stats from his time at NC State, you would think that Lewis was not a very good shooter.Nothing could be further from the truth. He isn’t just an average shooter, he is a great one. Based off the system that was run at his former school, Tyler was not given the opportunity to shoot the ball freely."LULZ
9/30/2014 6:14:34 PM
The entire time he was here I never knew he could get to the basket with ease.
9/30/2014 6:20:39 PM
I think that the ACC was just too soon for him; the dude needed a consistent shot that just was not there. BUT, in terms of unbelievable passes, he was an ace no doubt. He could use this year off to develop his shot and turn into a very decent player... or not.
9/30/2014 6:43:00 PM
Was absolutely worthless vs teams that could pressure the ball via man to man. Effective vs teams that played zone or packed their man to man inside. Crazy how his much value changed depending on the opposition.
9/30/2014 6:47:20 PM
He's going to be just as good as he was in high school. He just needed a fresh start.
9/30/2014 7:26:14 PM
I wish him all the luck in the world. But...
9/30/2014 8:12:58 PM
Even with how small he is and his defensive issues, if he could've shot just a decent percentage from 3 I think he would've been above average ACC point guard. When you're that small and not overly quick, you have to be able to knock down some kind of jump shot.

10/1/2014 9:40:51 AM
Lol at anyone calling a guy who makes 36% in practice a GREAT shooter. If you cant hit 50% in practice you shouldn't even take that shot in a game. Ray Allen probably shoots close to 70% in practice. In his warmup routine even higher. [Edited on October 2, 2014 at 11:35 AM. Reason : a]
