new pixies track bad

the one they released a few weeks ago?yeah, it's quite awful
7/17/2013 7:28:01 PM
John Dwyer just released a record by this old New England noise band called La Machine. It's halfway between Suicide and Neu, just bass/drums with half spooky, half silly dub vocals.I like it a lot.--New Gauntlet Hair is meh.

the new love language is streaming on pandora. have given it a few spins now and it is growing on me after initially being put off by the first single. also, looks like this will be the first hopscotch we won't see them around.http://t.co/q89wmPkSlN
7/17/2013 10:33:45 PM
Special appearance by Tony Woodard, world junior whistling champion.
7/17/2013 11:33:33 PM
really like the new Hot Chip and Sylvan Esso EPsnew Camera Obscura album really grew on me after listening to it a lot. "I Missed Your Party" might be the worst song ever though. The Red Wing is an incredible song, but I'm a little disappointed with Fuck Buttons... that's probably just because Tarot Sport was so good.
7/18/2013 12:05:46 AM
^^^^^Yeah thati heard it on the radio for the first time a few days ago i thinkso unendearingly goofy
7/18/2013 12:14:00 AM
bam thwok wasn't great, but the chorus was passablenew jam is just blaaaahhhhh
7/18/2013 12:24:31 AM
that had real Kimthe new one has "Kim"
7/18/2013 12:40:55 AM

He's got great vibrato. He legitimately was the world junior whistling champion when he was a teenager. Was on Letterman and shit.
7/18/2013 12:05:36 PM
from 2012, but i've been really enjoying the Bon Iver, Bon Iver: Stems Project remix album. some good electronic twists to his work.
7/25/2013 8:10:58 AM
From page 7,
7/26/2013 12:46:53 PM
The songs are better. The production choices are more interesting. The album as complete thought is much more cohesive. Most importantly, unlike Contra, it's not boring as shit.
7/26/2013 1:06:05 PM
Yeah, I'm in that boat too. I enjoyed the first album okay enough and thought Contra was fairly forgettable, but I LOVE the new one.
7/26/2013 1:29:29 PM
7/27/2013 8:12:53 PM
i strongly recommend some of you revisit Contraother than Diane Young, i put pretty every song on Contra above anything on Modern Vampires of the Cityregardless, the only post-millennium band with a stronger first three albums is Arcade Fire, i think (which reminds me, i never listened to the last Titus Andronicus album, what the fuck)
7/27/2013 8:53:28 PM
So we are halfway through the year what are everyone's top 3-5 albums so far?
7/27/2013 9:28:16 PM
Contra sucks. "Diplomat's Son" is the only track worth paying attention to.
7/27/2013 10:13:31 PM
Horchata, White Sky, California English, Cousins, Giving Up The Gun, and I Think Ur A Contra say otherwise
7/27/2013 10:33:01 PM
7/28/2013 2:32:39 AM
i've only given MVofC some cursory listens so i was kind of talking out my assmy real point was that Contra is legit, wasn't trying to cast aspersions of anything else
7/28/2013 7:37:38 AM
total love language homer here, but i like the new album a lot.
7/28/2013 9:32:08 PM
I also think VW is the best band of the lately but their new album is better than Contra. Suburbs > Neon Bible too California English was so forgettable on the album but sounded amazing live.[Edited on July 28, 2013 at 10:08 PM. Reason : .]

8/2/2013 5:10:28 PM
i forgot to mention sonny & the sunsets' "antenna to the afterworld"easily their best work, and i really liked "hit after hit"
8/2/2013 6:35:01 PM
new Dads EP is a underwhelming :/ 3/5Geology (mewithoutYou bassist) EP is a decent listen and pay what you want on bandcamp. 3.5/5new dismemberment plan and mansions albums are probably my most anticipated that are left in 2013. I'm sure I'm forgetting something though.[Edited on August 2, 2013 at 7:20 PM. Reason : ]

Anyone listen to Candy Claws?Checking out the latest one now: http://candyclaws.bandcamp.com/album/ceres-calypso-in-the-deep-timeTheir 2nd didn't do a lot for me but their first one from 2009 is fun too: http://candyclaws.bandcamp.com/album/in-the-dream-of-the-sea-lifeDream Pop/Shoegaze mixed with Animal Collective with beachy, psychedelic overtones if I had to describe it.
8/8/2013 10:45:15 AM
And actually to add to that, throw The Olivia Tremor Control's Black Foliage into the mix of sounds that I hear on this latest album (although, it's probably the more beatles-influenced portions of OTC that I am hearing here)Just finished my first listen-through and I really enjoyed it. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys any version of dream pop, shoegaze, or lo-fi psychedelic indie.[Edited on August 8, 2013 at 11:21 AM. Reason : ]
