I don't get the late 1st projection. Bias aside, are there 15, even 10 players in the draft better than him (or project to be down the road)? Only way I see him staying is if his dad influences him to.

How much euro is coming into the league this year?

Exactly, Warren is an amazing college player, but the jury is still out on him as far as translating to the NBA. Think about Julius Hodge, probably the best comparison to not fitting a particular NBA position but being super-effective in college.Warren isn't athletic enough and isn't strong enough from three-point land to play the 3 in the NBA. He absolutely has no business trying to play the 4, he'd be undersized and get pushed around. His defense is also just average to above-average at the college level, so when he gets to the NBA, he'll struggle to cover most of the 3's that are going to be much faster/athletic than him.NBA draft is 90% about potential/upside and 10% about production. Warren would be one of the top 10 players I'd want on my team this year in the NCAA, but if my team had a top 10 pick in the NBA Draft, can't say I'd be high on them taking him.
2/27/2014 1:14:36 PM
I don't think TJ stays, he's probably a bottom of the first rd guy. I think he would definitely benefit by staying, he'd move up at least 10 spots just by waiting a year. If he also developed a 3 pointer or showed that he could really handle the ball he could sneak into the lottery. On the other hand, it's really hard to pass up guaranteed money for the possibility of more guaranteed money the following year and the possibility of injury.
2/27/2014 1:27:34 PM
Everything he does looks so effortless. He's so smooth. So much fun to watch. No way I'm getting my hopes up about him coming back next year. Even though some of the above are valid points (legitimate questions about how his game translates to the NBA), I just don't see him coming back. And I don't blame him a bit if he does go pro. He's dropping 30+ with ease as the only legitimately consistent offensive threat on the team.
2/27/2014 1:31:36 PM
While not crazy athletic...he's DEFINITELY athletic enough to be a solid 3 in the NBA. He doesn't have the skillset to be an All-Star, but he's a guy you can plug in on your second line and know he's going to give you some points. He's 6'8", has a good handle, a decent shot, is a great rebounder, and knows how to put the ball in the basket. Its pretty much what you're looking for in a 15-20 pick (1st or 2nd guy off the bench who can give you 10-12 points a game).
2/27/2014 1:32:58 PM
Good points. I just think he takes whats given to him now, which is easily knocking down those floaters in the lane. His midrange jumper is what has always made me think he'd be successful in the NBA, he just doesn't use it as much now since he doesn't need to.
2/27/2014 1:43:10 PM
I think he gets drafted 13-20. You gotta factor in how badly he is going to destroy people in workouts. And he's going to shoot really well in drills because he's an assassin. His range will be muchbbetter in the NBA because of the spacing. He's a really strong offensive rebounder, great mid range game, and a high stealrate . He's certainly a better pro prospect than recent Draftbust Harrison Barnes . I can'tIimagine no one notices his value.
2/27/2014 6:43:45 PM
Tokoto is as athletic a guy as there is and Warren abused him last night. Warren just scores.
2/27/2014 8:37:22 PM
Yeah, some of ya'll are crazy, Warren is really fucking good. The things he needs to improve, shooting and ball handling, that can be worked on. His killer instinct to score the basketball is unteachable. And come on, it's not like he's a stiff. You can't compare everyone to Lebron James, he's got enough quickness to get to his spots on the floor and the agility to finish around the basket. He's also a guy who spends his time working on basketball, not lifting weights. He's got room to grow athletically, just like Kevin Durant did. If anything he'll more effective in the NBA, especially if he starts off on a contender as a 6th man.
2/27/2014 8:56:31 PM
here's how I look at itIf TJ decided he wanted to steal rental cars and not go to class in chapel hill where would he be drafted?I figure about 9thunc players generally get overdrafted by 5 spots so let's say he should go 14th. Then add another 5 spots to the draft negative that is attending NCSU. So he's going to go 19th
2/27/2014 9:46:05 PM
The Paul Pierce comparison is a pretty good one. I heard someone else compare him to Joe Johnson. Both are versatile wings with decent athleticism and respectable (but not elite) jump shots. Basically good at everything but masters at nothing -- except putting up points.I'm sure he'll do some research and make the right decision. He did just see two of his teammates leave early and not get drafted in the first round (or in CJL's case, not get drafted at all). Maybe that will have some weight.
2/28/2014 9:59:50 AM
(he also saw a teammates' draft status fall after his sophomore and junior seasons)
2/28/2014 10:03:11 AM
TJ needs to come back so we can have a second player's jersey retired. Thompson's is lonely all by itself.
2/28/2014 9:25:44 PM
It will be a goddamn disgrace that he doesn't win ACC POTY since we suck[Edited on March 1, 2014 at 2:10 PM. Reason : M]
3/1/2014 1:45:50 PM
Slightly down game for him on offense but he still managed 20 points and led the defense on our major run in the second half. Gonna miss him like crazy next year.
3/1/2014 9:48:18 PM
if we finish with 23+ wins and if McDermott goes to jail in the next 3 weeks and if TJ scores 30 in each game, he will win National Player of the Year
3/1/2014 9:53:53 PM
he has been great to watch all season. we will probably never see the highest scoring player in the "power conferences" at nc state ever again.
3/3/2014 9:30:32 PM
I love this guy so much!!!
3/3/2014 10:22:12 PM
PlZ2ACCPOTW
3/3/2014 11:02:26 PM
dammit i dont know if we will ever see such a great offensive season like this ever again!
3/3/2014 11:03:23 PM
[what TJ Warren will be doing tonight]
3/3/2014 11:03:26 PM
NPOY, right???
3/3/2014 11:03:50 PM
what a freaking waste
3/3/2014 11:03:57 PM
TJ, you are much appreciated good sir.
3/3/2014 11:04:08 PM
3/3/2014 11:05:42 PM
Somehow he won't win ACC Player of the Week for this.

3/3/2014 11:08:08 PM
But is he first-team All-ACC material?
3/3/2014 11:08:49 PM
^^He'll be lucky to win co-player of the game, lol
3/3/2014 11:09:02 PM
I bet the dickbags on Sporstcenter don't even give him a mention tonight. The game was on a espn network too.
3/3/2014 11:15:19 PM
Can't remember why he only scored four against UVA.
3/3/2014 11:22:11 PM
UVA locked down a bunch of team's best players this year.don't remember much from that game, except.. pain.
3/3/2014 11:23:23 PM
TJW is quickly becoming my favorite player ever to watch.
3/3/2014 11:25:15 PM
Somebody from the Duke v. UNC game will win player of the week, bank on it.
3/3/2014 11:44:28 PM
3/3/2014 11:54:55 PM
@SportsCenter TJ Warren for #SC3stars dude dropped 41 pts tonight on Pitt” @TheArchibald32 knows what he's talking about! Everyone should tweet and get him on sports center. Obviously Lebron tonight is a given
3/3/2014 11:55:06 PM
Fuck it...he can impregnate my wife if it means he will stay for one more year. We need to win now build for the future...are you willing to sacrifice?!?!
3/4/2014 12:29:20 AM
^You went too far. How about "I'll name my son TJ" if he stays another year
3/4/2014 12:34:36 AM
Abu might be a rare recruit that doesn't care about PT because if Warren comes back someone is going to sit. Then again he might actually be smart enough to know that playing 15mpg as a freshman on a NCAAT team would be more enjoyable than playing 25 on a 17-15 team
3/4/2014 12:37:11 AM
Or you can stop reading so much into that tweet
3/4/2014 12:44:25 AM
3/4/2014 1:14:59 AM
TJ played 28 minutes vs UVA due to foul trouble since he finished with 4 fouls. TJ got hurt later in the Duke game and Maryland was after Duke. He played 37 minutes vs Duke, sat out vs Maryland, and then played 42 in the OT win over GT.
3/4/2014 1:26:49 AM
no that our season is over. he balls out consistently and leaves no doubt about his future next year.At least we will finally have our first nba star.
3/4/2014 1:55:29 AM
Don't you guys remember, we were down 30-2, 10 minutes into the game vs uva
3/4/2014 7:55:43 AM
no, that never happened.*bangs head on wall*nope. never happened.
3/4/2014 8:08:28 AM
Back to the earlier discussion, while TJ will have some question marks from the NBA's point-of-view, I don't think him delaying his entrance by 1-2 years is really going to change their opinion on him. Really the only thing he could "work on" if he came back another year is 3-point consistency, defense, and handles, and really he can work on that next year while getting paid. I think a lot of people just write off TJ as "the best player on a bad team so he gets a lot of stats because of volume", which is pretty far off. Yes he's the best player on our team, but dude's %'s are pretty solid, not like he's just getting 20+ppg because he's jacking up 30 shots, haha. And can't blame Abu for wanting him back. Abu really wouldn't be competing with playing time with Warren, he'd just make the game easier for him. Abu would have a LOT less attention on him defensively with Warren on the court with him, would lead to plenty of easier looks. Should be fun to see how things shake out with our bigs next year, potentially 4 solid players and rotating starting line-ups depending on match-ups.
3/4/2014 8:23:58 AM
Jabari is a lock for player of the year, right? Not because he deserves it, of course, but facts are facts.I hope Warren can eek out first team over Hood.
3/4/2014 9:08:04 AM
Jabari was a lock for POY the moment he stepped on campus unfortunately. He hasn't been terrible so why would we watch games and look at silly stats and numbers to make the decision?
