So there's a guy I used to work with that supports this bullshit amendment. Funny thing is this law he's supporting could potentially fuck up his life since he's not married yet. I have to admit, I will laugh if his fiance ends up in the ICU and he couldn't visit her.

I'm starting to think the anti-amendment 1 people are barking up the wrong tree, trying to scare straights into thinking this will be soo bad for us too. The straights affected by this, realistically, will be few and far between. They should just straight-up call people idiots for voting because they THINK the Bible says something, or voting with their bigotry, when it's clear the country is moving away from this trend:What will they say to their kids in the future when they ask them why North Carolinians supported this bigotry?[Edited on May 4, 2012 at 9:22 AM. To his credit, at least he's big enough to keep spewing his close-minded, big government solution authoritarianism which always provides a hearty chuckle.

5/4/2012 3:26:28 PM
She speaks like five languages. She's probably going to be a diplomat one day.
5/4/2012 3:27:14 PM
A five-language polygot doing an exchange program in Havelock. ETA: Not meant to slam Havelock, just that there are quite a few cities that might offer more cultural or educational experiences. Although, Mr. Beethoven is a New Bernian, so I think he'd rather I just insult Havelock... [Edited on May 4, 2012 at 3:31 PM. Reason : ]

Yup. I don't know exactly how she ended up at my school. I just know that everyone wanted to hang out with that 'Italian girl'. [Edited on May 4, 2012 at 3:35 PM. Reason : I'm from New Bern, but I lived closer to Havelock so I went to school at HHS. BEARS SUCK! GO RAMS!]
5/4/2012 3:32:10 PM
wait, a minute! I'm from New Bern too!!(and by from, I mean I lived there from 1996-2001, and then on the summer breaks)

We almost moved to Havelock (dad worked at Cherry Point) but after checking it out for a couple of days, I was like ohhh hell no, don't do that to me.

I would tell Carrie that, as an American, Catholics are not citizens and should be deported. I don't have an issue with anyone who is Catholic, citizenship is problem.
5/4/2012 3:44:25 PM
Vero was originally supposed to do her stay in like, San Francisco/Diego/California, but it got changed last minute to Havelol.I, too, am a Havelockian...dad was military so we lived there for awhile.
5/4/2012 3:47:16 PM
People who refuse to listen to respectful dissent of their opinion piss me off. I have no qualms with someone telling me why my point of view is ill informed as long as they're not being a dick about it.
5/4/2012 3:47:34 PM
^ Is why I felt it necessary to post that thread in here. I've had a couple of fb friends like her completely blow up when someone commented on their status with opposite beliefs. This one was just especially egregious and lolsworthy. It's sad to me that many people for the amendment act like her. I'm sure many people against it act like her too. So far, I've only really seen people for the amendment acting like fucktards.
5/4/2012 3:51:22 PM
I was speaking with someone (very civilly), the other day about this issue. She was leaning against the Amendment, due to the constitutional issues involved. But said she wanted to vote for it because she's against gay marriage. I then informed her that gay marriage isn't the only thing at stake here, it's all sorts of civil partnerships, whether romantic or not. At which point she said "maybe people shouldn't be living in sin anyways. Maybe I will vote for it. Maybe if this law passes, it'll keep people from living together for years on end without getting married, because what's the point in that??"To which the other person in the conversation said "I'm not paying for health insurance for any gay people." I asked her if she had to do that now. "No". "Then why would that change if you didn't vote for this." "Because it's a slippery slope, and they're just going to keep shoving this issue down our throats."I don't mind debates or arguments, but I expect people to at least be logical about things. At least be able to back up your assertions. And that goes for BOTH sides of this argument.

5/4/2012 4:05:30 PM
someone posted on FB that it is projected to pass.Is that true?
5/4/2012 5:21:59 PM
It is projected to pass by such a large margin that if you were planning to vote 'yes' for amendment one you don't even need to show up anymore because it won't even be close. Seriously, stay home, you'll be fine.
5/4/2012 5:26:06 PM
If it passes, I'm leaving NC.seriously.
