I can see Clarence Thomas's dissent now: Scribbled in purple crayon, "THE DEMOCRATS ARE HIPOCRITS, THEY DID THIS ONCE TOOOOOOOOO."[Edited on January 22, 2018 at 5:51 AM. Reason : Have you googled gerrymandering algorithms yet aaronburro? ]
1/22/2018 5:48:56 AM
Hell, we're still shocked that Thomas said something in court last year. Crayons would be asking a lot of him
1/22/2018 10:52:28 PM
Looks like Pennsylvania will get new maps for midterms.

http://www.scotusblog.com/2018/04/opinion-analysis-court-bars-lawsuits-against-foreign-corporations-under-alien-tort-statute/Nothing to see here, just Scotus carrying water for corporations again.
4/25/2018 2:35:05 PM
McConnell is so civil. It would be really uncivil to call him a shitstain on the human race so I won’t do it.Also, Earl told me Trump wouldn’t nominate conservative judges.
6/26/2018 10:37:40 AM
This shit is infuriating
6/26/2018 10:45:25 AM
does the planned parenthood decision also mean that abortion clinics can no longer be required to disclose other options or have required statements?
6/26/2018 11:11:52 AM
SCOTUS 2 for 2 today apparently. Travel Ban upheld.
6/26/2018 11:21:25 AM
most expected the travel ban being upheld
6/26/2018 11:39:03 AM
RIP labor unions
6/27/2018 10:08:17 AM
About damn time we get rid of unions. Great day
6/27/2018 1:11:39 PM
Why?
6/27/2018 1:41:29 PM
Kennedy retiring.Trump is going to make the court solid conservative with no swing for the rest of our lives. Donald fucking Trump.[Edited on June 27, 2018 at 2:05 PM. Reason : X]
6/27/2018 2:05:09 PM
What if I told you, Gorsuch had a more liberal voting record than Kennedy?
6/27/2018 2:12:04 PM
Maybe in sum but Roe v Wade is gone as we know it almost assuredly.
6/27/2018 2:14:55 PM
lol, did you just google this article? https://reason.com/blog/2018/06/27/neil-gorsuch-was-more-liberal-than-antho
6/27/2018 2:16:05 PM
6/27/2018 2:22:23 PM
welp
6/27/2018 2:25:54 PM
fuck every one of the god damn spineless democrats who decided acting civil was more important than losing their god damn shit when their nomination was stolen
6/27/2018 2:28:10 PM
Lol there are going to be 3 liberals on the court soon after Dems winning the popular vote in 6 or the last 7 presidential elections. Cool system we got here..[Edited on June 27, 2018 at 2:36 PM. Reason : Praying RBG holds on]
6/27/2018 2:35:36 PM
^^not only that, an act of defiance early on during the Trump presidency would have played well to their constituency. Not only was it spineless, it would have cost them NOTHING. And still they chose not to do it.
6/27/2018 2:37:10 PM
Kennedy will not be welcome at the Red Hen.
6/27/2018 2:41:30 PM
6/27/2018 3:17:36 PM
Hopefully having the previous nomination stolen from them will motivate the Democrats to quit laying down and pursue something like that, but I'm not holding my breath. Their prospects in the House look pretty favorable at the moment, but unfortunately for them, as it relates to this development, that's not the case in the Senate.[Edited on June 27, 2018 at 7:38 PM. Reason : GOP is much better at politics]
6/27/2018 7:36:46 PM
It probably secures the Senate for Republicans. The prospect of getting one nomination got Trump elected. Surely another will turn out the r voters to keep some pasty old white guys in office.
6/27/2018 8:53:31 PM
I argue it was already secured for the Republicans before today.
6/27/2018 8:55:12 PM
Yea I guess cemented might be a better word.
6/27/2018 10:33:12 PM
I really want to see Dems go down swinging on this, but I do think it'll result in a loss ultimately. The GOP will go nuclear on the filibuster and Newt Gingrich will be our next justice. The history books will point to this as the event that finally killed the "world's greatest deliberative body" (which is joke in itself). Conservatives will challenge every law and policy in our lifetimes to the Supreme Court. Which basically makes it impossible for me to believe that government will be able to address any of the existential problems that plague our country. The future is dim.[Edited on June 28, 2018 at 8:00 AM. Reason : if it hurts Dems chances of taking the Senate, I'm still ok with punching hard on this. ]
6/28/2018 7:59:36 AM
Time for the #CalExit and #Cascadia succession to begin
6/28/2018 5:07:38 PM
6/28/2018 5:31:57 PM
derp, for some reason I thought the filibuster was still in effect for supreme court nominees (but not for other judges or presidential appointees).
6/28/2018 5:42:19 PM
Yea they dumped that shit for gorsuch. If they can't get a republican or 2 to defect its basically done until there is a new democratic president.
6/28/2018 6:10:38 PM
(This line of questioning in the hearings is the only thing that can stop Justice Gingrich.)
6/28/2018 6:58:03 PM
Unfortunately, he can nominate someone much less polarizing that Newt and accomplish every bit of what you describe.
6/28/2018 11:47:39 PM
re the Travel Ban...Imagine if Obama had gone around for a year saying he would ban Christians from coming here, enacted a policy that looked like a Christian ban, defended the policy after it was put in place at a campaign rally as a Christian ban-- can anyone see the court ruling the same way?It seems like we have enough precedent and laws about separation of church and state and religious discrimination, that they would have found some way to make those things apply, without this specific statute having to specify "btw you can't use travel bans as part of a bigoted agenda".
6/29/2018 1:06:17 AM
Except Christians make up like 80% of the US population and Muslims are closer to 1%, and there's the whole jihad against the US thing. The Buddists would be a better example...if their most extreme factions declared war on us that is.

^ not bad. Most posts I see on the issue say that Kennedy's son personally loaned the billion.[Edited on June 30, 2018 at 12:51 PM. Reason : You buried the employment, but at least you mentioned it.]]
6/30/2018 12:50:59 PM
Should I make another post about how Deutsche bank launder Russian money?
6/30/2018 4:32:25 PM
If you want?I think that's how it works around here...
6/30/2018 6:26:54 PM
It should raise the eyebrows of any reasonable person. Any sane person, much less a savvy banker, wouldn’t loan Trump $1,000 and expect to be paid back. A $BILLION$ fucking dollars?
6/30/2018 7:37:27 PM
They were giving Trump money during the bottom of the last recession
6/30/2018 8:15:17 PM
What do you guys think about Barrett? I don't know much about her, but it looks like she's in Trump's crosshairs to be the next SCOTUS member. She's conservative, Christian, and had quite a few Dem votes when she was confirmed.
7/3/2018 9:12:01 AM
no way[Edited on July 3, 2018 at 9:21 AM. Reason : also, no chance]
7/3/2018 9:20:04 AM
No way as in you don't like her? Or no way Trump picks her?
7/3/2018 9:20:43 AM
yes

7/4/2018 11:50:27 PM

^^He called it a Muslim ban during his campaign rallies he held after being elected office.https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/06/11/what-president-trump-has-said-about-muslims-travel-ban/102565166/Trump doesn’t do anything carefully btw— literally the only thing he’s careful about is doing anything to upset Russia.
7/9/2018 9:51:42 PM
Picks a judge that doesn't believe a President should be prosecuted or have to deal with legal matters while in office. Nothing to see here folks.
