Read the fifth book. It is way better than the fourth. Much better pacing and more interesting characters. I'd say it isn't as awesome as Storm of Swords but is better than Clash of Kings. Arya does get her sight back but I'll let you read about what happens.

I don't understand why he wasted time on the history of westeros, and these stupid novelas.

At this point, the show is going to have to go on without him. But I'm sure the producers have known this for some time now. I just don't see him giving them an outline of twow to use for the show.
