I guess I've heard the term strong or weak applied to both the first few picks and the overall depth independently. Either way theres never a year where people think that players 4-14 will be any good, and every year they point to the "strong classes" before and point out successful 4-14 picks.
5/18/2011 11:27:12 AM
i keep half-forgetting that we have 2 first round picksprobably because i have high confidence that the picks will suck
5/18/2011 1:46:09 PM
Yeah, draft seems weak as ever this year. I know nothing about the supposed international talent, but the college crop is weak. Had Sullinger, Barnes, etc came out, it'd be a different story. The only player I'd feel great about taking is Derrick Williams. The one mock draft I've seen has Texas PF Tristan Thompson to the Bobcats. Mehh
5/18/2011 2:20:53 PM
ive seen 3 mocksone has them taking leonard from SDSU, another says Jimmer, another says the boogiewoogie guy Biyombo (Congo)]
5/18/2011 2:30:49 PM
If we take JimmerThis town will revoltWith blood running in the streets
5/18/2011 2:33:10 PM
the jimmer mock draft was from sporting news, so i wouldn't take too much stock in itbut if jordan can take a morrison, and a kwame twice, then i wouldn't put it past him to take another white scoring leader
5/18/2011 2:34:37 PM
Because the Bobcats aren't important enough to warrant their own offseason threadHired an AZN as GM today. I like it. Anything is an improvement from Higgins.

He wouldn't even harm a fry...
6/14/2011 9:22:02 AM
didnt realize we still had Higgins and just saw he was promotedmakes me think of the guy in "The Fatigues" when the dude was like "you PROMOTED him?? I BUST my hump every day..."]
6/14/2011 7:41:05 PM
Higgins should have been fired just because his drafts look so terrible. though i guess some of the blame goes to mr. micro-management Michael Jordan.i found this to be the oddest part about this hire:
6/14/2011 8:10:43 PM
i didn't realize ra's al-ghul was basketball savvy. ain't that some shit
6/14/2011 8:11:11 PM
Workout #8 on Thursday will include Cory Higgins, son Rod Higgins.
6/15/2011 3:15:55 PM
it's (even more) obvious Rick Bonnell is out of his mind:
6/15/2011 4:30:02 PM
first reaction is i wouldnt mind Singleton at 9 since it doesn't look like he'd last to 19
6/16/2011 6:39:12 PM
yeah i would be ok with that, apparently his offensive game is beginning to catch up to his defensive game.my point was that Bonnell writes all these articles about what the 'Cats need (3 point shooting), then he suggests something that is just about the exact opposite (Singleton)
6/16/2011 7:45:41 PM
lol Bonnell is on David Glenn right now
6/20/2011 2:10:38 PM
did he rant about how people commenting on his blog didnt know as much as him and were completely wrong?
6/20/2011 2:27:19 PM
i liked his one blog where everybody was dropping f bombs and he was cool with it for about 30 minutes
6/20/2011 2:31:14 PM
I've give my left nut to see Bonnell try to hold his own on Around the Horn
6/20/2011 2:43:08 PM
hell i'd like to see him try to hold his own in this threadhe's such a clown
6/20/2011 5:44:18 PM
I'm disregarding anything you say out of principle until you give us a follow up on your date from last week
6/20/2011 5:46:32 PM
6/21/2011 5:51:50 PM
well, i can't blame him. that's a pretty sweet deal to only put out effort once every 10 games and collect $9 million.
6/21/2011 7:04:57 PM
i dont blame him, i just hope we can find another team dumb enough to trade for him
6/21/2011 7:06:56 PM
maybe the Raptors. they like foreigners.
6/21/2011 7:12:29 PM
1) I agree with bozo's general sentiments about the draft hype but I will say this year's is particularly weak at the top. I think a lot of that is because of the likely lockout. Everyone who could went pro last year, and many who could this year are sticking around one more year.2) I love Biyombo because he could be a potential defensive superstar in this league. I'd take him at #9 and kill for him at #19. I also really like Jordan Hamilton he seems like a solid offensive player and a great defender. Also, I like the flexibility he seems to have to play/defend the 2 and 3. Jackson is on his last legs and we have minutes open from the Wallace trade. Chris Singleton I could definitely get behind. Again, he's a two way player. The way to win in the NBA is to get guys who play both ways (G.Wallace, Deron, etc) or are legitimate superstars at one of the ends (Durant, Ibaka, etc). That being said I think we'll take Marcus Morris even though our best player Tyrus Thomas is a young, quality, PF with a long contract.3) Of course Diaw took the money. He'd get like 2 years $9 million from most teams and MAYBE 5 yrs, $30 if some dumb team were really desperate. 4) The new GM is a quantitative analysis guy. All the leading NBA minds are now. Look at Dallas for instance who just won the championship. A few years ago it was only Darryl Morey but now it's pretty prevalent throughout the top teams front offices. Surprisingly, basketball is almost as easy to evaluate as baseball with quantative analysis. That's why I talk about it so much.5) Lastly, I bet Vince Carter ends up as a Bobcat. He probably won't get a huge payday and we have the space to give him like 5 years, $40 million. He's washed up but he's still playable and he'd be slightly marketable for a franchise that has never done a good job marketing itself. In the long run it'd be a terrible move to give him that many years or that much money, but I could see Jordan and co. doing it. Unless the Asian has a say.[Edited on June 21, 2011 at 7:20 PM. The team is going to give Gerald Henderson every opportunity to blossom. No way in hell they sign a fat lazy malcontent like Carter to block his path. Give me two solid rookies this year, a shit record and a top 6 pick next year, and maybe we can finally start to contend in 2013.

Literally everyone wanted us to take Paul, Roy, and lopez Holy shit I still like biyombo but I think you have to take kahwi his stats are ridiculous 25% dreb and 12% oreb from a sf???? He's the next Marion or Wallace, you can't pass up a sure thing

6/23/2011 2:49:07 PM
Biyombo might be out he is rumored to have a buyout. If we don't end up with faried or Hamilton at 19 ill be mad
6/23/2011 3:07:42 PM
getting Hamilton at 19 would be awesomebut i doubt he lasts that long

i remember sitting in my house in college w. jeffshelton a few years ago and said to him after a discussion about the Charlotte Tarholes "if the bobcats draft Brandon Wright i will officially never root for them again , ever"2 seconds later, the Bobcats draft Brandon Wright.
