Jennings. He is a deep threat and I think the Philly/GB matchup will be high scoring.
9/7/2010 9:04:40 AM
^^thats tough, I think I would have to go with Best, he's the primary RB in Detroit and will have the ball in his hands a lot more than Jennings will. Jennings is a close second to Best
9/7/2010 9:45:13 AM
^^^I Like Jennings in what should be high scoring game with Philly. Drafted in my IDP league couple weeks ago. Stats geared towards QBs so they always go pretty quickly. 5pt/TD. 40 and 50 yd TD bonus and 300 and 400 yd passing bonus for QBs. Who to start:Pick 2 RBs:Turner, Grant, McCoy, Arian Foster.Turner is facing Pittsburgh, I do not really want to play both Grant and McCoy as their teams are facing each other and I also have Driver and Desean as options at WR. Foster is facing Indy in a game that could be a high scoring affair.Pick 3 WRs:Moss, Desean, Boldin, Floyd, and Driver. Not big on Desean facing that tough GB defense. I like the Floyd vs KC matchup. Moss and Boldin are definite starts IMO.
9/7/2010 10:25:08 AM
so you are scared about Desean facing Green Bay, but not Boldin facing Revis and the Jets defense?I would start Moss, Desean, Boldin, Turner and Foster

^^^^Turner, Grant, Moss, DeSean, BoldinI say Grant because he's consistent and Kubiak is insane. Foster could have a fumble on the opening drive and he might not see the field the rest of the season. I just don't trust Houston RBs, any of them. ^ Cotchery#2 WR for Jets > #3 WR for GiantsTrade was just proposed to meI trade Mike Wallace for Dwayne BoweWallace is currently my #2 WR and Bowe is his RB/WR. My current WRs Jennings, Wallace, Cotchery, Knox, Gaffney, Holmes, Burleson. I had Bowe last year and got burned pretty bad. Now, all I hear is positive news coming from KC. Thoughts?

Should I try to trade Favre for a better option? Should I drop Choice for Jacoby Jones or Patrick Crayton (as one of the secondary WRs for SD & Hou should be able to put up numbers)? Is Evans even worth keeping since he's Buffalo's only WR?

I don't fully understand the waiver wire yet, but I've seen a few mentions about nabbing Larry Johnson if he's available. TreeTwista said grab the best available RB/WR, which by %owned would be Vincent Jackson, Kenny Britt, or Jericho Cotchery and by projected Fan Points Jackson, Snelling, Jones, Bell, Manningham with some of those having very low % ownership. Would it help to see my matchup's roster? I guess H2H may not be the greatest 'first time' setting. *shrug*Also, with these endless debates on who to start which week, it seems as though my bench doesn't offer such a conundrum.
9/7/2010 1:22:59 PM
^ with your scoring you really should have drafted a better QB than Cutler. Who is still available? Collie is a good choice this week for the Flex. Texans/Colts will be high scoring and Indy is a pass heavy offense. Dont bother grabbing Jackson until he finds a new team. Doesnt look like he is going to play for the Chargers this year. Kenny Britt is a #1/#2 WR for the Titans so he is worth a look, but the way your scoring works out, QB and RB are going to get the bulk of your points so try to find a RB to fill the flex.
9/7/2010 1:44:14 PM
Yeah everyone started grabbing QBs early as fuck and I knew the scoring system favored them more than usual, but I didn't think it was that important and once I didn't snag an elite it just didn't seem wise to waste any picks because once Rivers was gone everyone else was pretty unimpressive. I grabbed Cutler late and then Roethlisberger even later hoping that his suspension would get reduced. In hindsight I guess I could have picked Rodgers or Brees instead of Jackson in the first round, but as I've said before I'm a complete noob this year. And now, looking over the draft results I could definitely have picked Brees over Miles Austin in Round 2. c'est la vie. What now?
9/7/2010 2:03:00 PM
^start McCluster in your flex spot over Collie - especially since you get return yards. McCluster will have the ball in his hands 2-3 times as much as Collie this week. Collie will likely have lik 2 or 3 receptions, while McCluster will be used out of the backfield, as a receiver and as a returner.
9/7/2010 2:27:39 PM
I can't remember where I read or how I knew about McCluster, but after grabbing him as my last round pick, I was pleased to see that someone else picked him or was at least talking about him.
9/7/2010 2:44:11 PM
^^ risky to take a rookie over a proven contributor. Granted there is bigger upside to McCluster than Collie, but it is the first game of the season and, in general, rookies generally start slow and contribute more as the year progresses. He is behind Charles and Jones in the RB spot, and behind Bowe and Chambers (and a couple of other experienced guys) in the WR spot. Collie is a better receiver in a more prolific offense. In other words youre looking at return yards mostly.

with Rivers and Witten, you don't really need a backup QB or TEso I'd say pickup RB/WR depth with your next 7 picks, get a defense in the 15th and a kicker in the last roundand make sure you dont draft Hardesty, he's out for the season[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 8:16 PM. Reason : .]

^thats great but again its a risk to play a rookie over an experienced player. The KC passing game is nowhere near as strong as Indy's so Collie is most definitely the better receiver (and I guarantee he will get more looks than McCluster). He isnt really an RB option so the only reason to go with him (IMO of course) is the return yards. I think Collie has more value at the flex position than McCluster. Not arguing with you here....just stating how I think and what I would do.

While I appreciate the addition of an interesting variable in "head coach", I must say that this is borderline absurd. Are you stuck with a coach or can you drop and add them like normal players?_______Here's a question for other fantasy football junkies. When looking at stats on ESPN's bottom line for both NFL and fantasy, how many of you calculate what the fantasy total would be in your league based on those stats? I do that shit all of the time. It's borderline insane.
9/7/2010 10:59:38 PM
i don't consciously or subconsciously compute the stats to fantasy #'s, I just kind of keep up with the yards, catches, and scores and use that as a base...you're full-fledged thoughits like we both took Spanish in school...I hear Spanish, translate it in my brain to English, think about it in English, figure out my response, and then convert it to Spanishyou just think in Spanishalso we have a HC position in the MW2 league...but the only stat they get credit for is if a game ends in a tie...so Andy Reid went off the board early]

9/7/2010 11:05:26 PM
Yes you can drop/add a HC whenever. I don't like it, but that's how the guy set up the league. And I haven't memorized the scoring for my leagues yet, but once I do then I will be calculating my scores in my head. Or just look at my phone and bring up my fantasy league on there. I know you can adjust your roster from a blackberry on Yahoo. This is my first time playing fantasy football on ESPN, so I don't know how hard/easy it is to do on a blackberry.

quick question for people in keeper leagueswhat do you do when someone trades a keeper to another team?
9/8/2010 2:37:56 PM
^^ I like Matt Forte over Arian Foster due to the matchup in both of your RB situations, at least until we know how much Mike Martz is going to utilize the run. Have you thought about Floyd over Boldin in your WR dilemma? Floyd is the #1 against a bad KC defense while Boldin will be stranded on the island. The Chargers did put up 43 points against KC last year and I think they can do it again.FYI CJ Spiller has been named the starting RB for the Bills on Sunday. Should be a good play at the flex position. [Edited on September 8, 2010 at 3:24 PM. Reason : a]

9/8/2010 4:05:26 PM
Not stupid, but each of the 4 ESPN "experts" gives Eli a higher rank this week, fwiw.
9/8/2010 4:17:38 PM
Well they projected Ryan to have 4 more points this week than Eli on the ESPN fantasy projections online, so I guess I am back to sqare 1.[Edited on September 8, 2010 at 4:19 PM. Reason : .,]
9/8/2010 4:19:23 PM
Projections are based on expected stats, so touchdowns skew it drastically. There's no way to predict touchdowns, even with a favorable matchup.I would put more weight in the expert's rankings, especially when all four of them favor one over the other.
9/8/2010 4:25:01 PM
I would also take Eli over Ryan. The Falcons are a run heavy offense and playing away in Pittsburgh. The Giants play at home and have a more pass oriented offense. The Giants also have a better defensive matchup against the Panthers while Ryan plays the Steelers D.Dont put any faith in Projections. [Edited on September 8, 2010 at 4:28 PM. Reason : a]
