Just watched the first 2 episodes! I agree that Peter Dinklage steals every scene ... he's great! So far the Lannisters are way more fun to watch than the Starks. They're just too stoic The part where Jamie throws Bran off the window ... it was my favorite part. just like I imagined it!!
5/2/2011 11:57:31 PM
I'm really impressed with Arya. Great acting for a kid.
5/3/2011 1:37:51 AM
Dammit I'm getting irritated that they've almost completely cut out the direwolves. Shit, we still haven't even SEEN a larger than puppy sized Ghost.Glad they got the actor they did for the Night's Watch commander (name escapes me at the moment) he's pretty much who I pictured while reading the books. Can't wait to see The Mountain and the Knight of FlowersPeter Dinklage continues to steal this show, awesome for him!HODOR!
5/3/2011 7:24:19 AM
^you're talking about Jeor Mormont correct? Definitely another good cast. They made him slightly less old looking but I think it works well.^^ agreed.^^^ Glad you finally got to watch [Edited on May 3, 2011 at 7:42 AM. Reason : .]

The lack of wolves is starting to piss me off too.
5/3/2011 9:16:31 AM
just in case anyone still had any doubts about the book. Obviously he and his publishers confirmed it last week, but I didn't see that he updated the page on his blog until today: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/if-update.html[Edited on May 3, 2011 at 11:03 AM. Reason : .]

I think he's abandoned that onehttp://grrm.livejournal.com/

Ratings rose 10% for the last episodehttp://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/05/03/game-of-thrones-viewing-rises-by-10/91351Haters are still gonna hate...
5/3/2011 1:41:54 PM
i can definitely understand how folks could be bored by the last episode...it wasn't exactly spellbinding to me, either
5/3/2011 2:01:10 PM
Just finished A Storm of Swords. God damn.
5/3/2011 2:14:16 PM
They have a TON of exposition they have to get through before the narrative can really pick up steam, and I'll be the first to admit that it's occasionally clunky and poorly integrated but I'm sure the payoff will be worth it.
5/3/2011 2:17:14 PM
PS ... did anyone notice the two Unsullied behind Illyrio at the mansion?
5/3/2011 2:31:07 PM
Whoa, totally didn't see that. REWATCHING NOW.
5/3/2011 2:35:41 PM
^^^^ That is exactly the feeling I had when I finished that book haha. The 2nd half of that book is absolutely nuts. At a minimum I want to get through the events in SOS with this TV show. Obviously the entire thing would be ideal, but if it doesn't go the whole duration I at least really want to get to see that book on screen.[Edited on May 3, 2011 at 2:51 PM. Reason : .]
5/3/2011 2:49:01 PM
Didn't notice either the first 2 times I watched36 minutes into the first episode.[Edited on May 3, 2011 at 3:20 PM. Reason : There are 2 at the bottom of the steps also]
5/3/2011 3:18:01 PM
They will never get through all the exposition. Too much stuff in the books.GRRM switched from TV to books because books allowed him to tell more story. Jamming all the book stuff into the TV show is proving awkward. When you watch good shows, they have time to focus on a few plots and characters at a time to let them develop.Hell, at this point, I think Spartacus is better than GoT, and that show doesn't pretend to be anything other than cheap thrills.
5/3/2011 10:58:33 PM
Spartacus turned out to be MUCH better than the snobs give it credit for. If it were on HBO instead of Starz, it would be award winning.

5/4/2011 8:25:23 AM
the actress who plays Catelyn annoys me
5/4/2011 9:08:32 AM
Yeah, I wish the original actress cast was still in the role; she fit my vision of Cat better.
5/4/2011 9:10:57 AM
The one I'm most disappointed in is Jon. I hope they start to develop him better because he was my favorite character from the books. He's probably the only one I'm disappointed with, actually.[Edited on May 4, 2011 at 9:31 AM. Reason : .]
5/4/2011 9:14:04 AM
Some of the actors you're supposed to hate, like Joffrey and Jaime. If they were likeable, it would mess up the whole story. They guy who plays Jaime is the perfect douchebag...you just want to punch him in the face every time you see him. And while I hated the Joffrey character at first, his little rant about how he would invade the North endeared him to me at least a little bit, even though he still looks like, as someone earlier mentioned, a mutant Draco Malfoy.
5/4/2011 9:24:51 AM
Lancel Lannister was hilariously accurate.
5/4/2011 9:32:45 AM
Is it a spoiler to say maybe he's supposed to look like an inbred blond kid? I'm sure it's pretty obvious at this point.
5/4/2011 9:33:46 AM
^^^ are you disappointed with the cast or just the development of him so far? I think the cast was good and I think he will get developed more over time. He is also one of my favorite characters in the books, but at the same time I don't remember if that was the case so early in the books. I feel like he became one of my favorite characters toward the end of the first book or into the second season. Hard to remember now though.[Edited on May 4, 2011 at 9:34 AM. Reason : .]

I don't hate Jamie or Joffrey. I don't think of them at all. They aren't memorable. Joffrey is a joke (child actors...), and Jamie is generic. Jamie's distinguishing characteristic so far is his .... hair? Your characters have to be more memorable to make a great show.
5/4/2011 9:39:27 AM
jamie's character isn't really developed until later in the story in the books; you don't really get to see any depth to him until the 3rd book.
5/4/2011 10:14:00 AM
He's not supposed to LOOK inbred. He's supposed to be a good looking kid with curly golden hair.
5/4/2011 11:31:28 AM
the mole or whatever on jamie's actor's face is pretty distracting.]

I wont embed because itll take up the whole thread screen, but this is worth a gander from both readers and newbs:http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Game-of-Thrones-Houses-infographic-Westeros-101-f.jpgWhy they gotta be actin' like Stannis doesnt even exist?!?!
5/4/2011 9:32:15 PM
Because he's not in the first season/book at all.
5/4/2011 9:38:36 PM
he was in the book.
5/4/2011 10:04:44 PM
I think he was just mentioned by name a few times total in AGOT right? Or am I remembering that wrong?
5/4/2011 10:56:53 PM
I'm about a third of the way through the first book. He's been mentioned a number of times, enough to where I know who he is at least.

SPOILER ALERT - scroll over this post!/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////i'm pretty sure ned gets "in trouble" because he declares stannis to be the true heir to the throne after what he finds out about joff. I just realized something.Maybe they couldn't find a suitable adult albino dog to play Jon's wolf.
5/7/2011 11:09:25 PM
Ghost is definitely in the show; they just haven't done a good job of keeping up with the wolves so far. They said that the younger dogs were hard to work with I guess. Anyway, this is a screenshot from a promo:[Edited on May 7, 2011 at 11:26 PM. Reason : ]

Man, I do not like the guy who does the audiobook for the fourth book at all.
5/8/2011 11:22:16 AM
They at least got the old guy back for the fifth book.
5/8/2011 11:35:29 AM
gotta love the way he does all the voices though
5/8/2011 11:46:22 AM
Yeah, Roy Dotrice is awesome. He takes forever, but he's really good at it. This other guy's awful though. There's a chapter that's basically just one long sex scene, and this guy's delivery combined with GRRM's creeptastic writing was almost unbearable. (I'm reading the book, but I had a long solo car ride yesterday so I listened to the audiobook for a few hours.)]
5/8/2011 12:01:22 PM
John Lee <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Roy Dotrice

This show is bad ass. It also briefly got up my hope of getting a dire wolf until I found out out via google they had been extinct for quite some time now. I've always wanted a wolf dog.
5/8/2011 9:14:55 PM
ghost appears!this is a pretty good episode. the show's finally starting to develop its own life...it's maintaining the integrity of the book without simply copying it.
