Nokias arent coming to the US until next year.Well my excitement for them just went way down.
10/26/2011 9:40:23 AM
^^^ look at the quality control issues with that phone. they can't even get it to address the other 256mb of the ram or reliably connect to wifi

Finally got the mango update yesterday. Haven't been able to play around with it much though.

Not surprising. There wasn't any new hardware out until November.
12/2/2011 1:46:38 PM
^Yeah^^One, that's US only numbers. Two, I'm with Stein, I wouldn't expect the marketshare to really make any headway until Feb/March of next year. I do think the Nokia phones are going to have a big impact in Europe in Q1 2012 (if they maintain their current momentum). Lets just hope MS figures out how to play the carrier game here in the US.
12/2/2011 2:23:38 PM
Yeah, the Nov. phone releases were pretty substantial gains and I'd think that momentum will only increase with more manufacturers jumping on board in the US.
12/2/2011 3:26:52 PM
Out of curiosity I bought a used Focus in October to play with 7.5. This will be my primary phone as its simply a pleasure to use - even on a 2 year old chipset. I am eating crow as I didn't think the platform had a chance last year.Sure, WP7 is missing some apps and features but MS really nails the basics. I hope it gains traction with the public.
12/5/2011 10:52:36 PM
^eerily similar to what we said about webOS
12/5/2011 11:28:32 PM
^Microsoft != HP....im pretty sure WP is gonna be around a while.
12/5/2011 11:33:41 PM
^^If there's one thing we know about MS, its that they have no problem pouring billions into a product for years and year (Herro Bing)

Finally got the update a week or so ago. Focus 1.4 version got shafted. It's really nice and has improved the phone ten-fold. Simple gripes with like browsing in landscape mode with 7 removed the address bar to not the address bar is there with 7.5. The xbox live tile is more responsive. Browsing seems quicker. Things like adding auto-update for the weather, custom ringtones, and other little user friendly tweaks have really made this a much better phone. I'm interested in seeing how I can use this with the new XBL dashboard and the new custom app thing they are releasing for the windows phone.
12/6/2011 7:58:17 AM
Hey Noen, my 3gs finally shit the bed. Why dont you get someone over there to send me a win phone?
12/13/2011 12:26:27 PM
^Get the Titan, or the Lumia 800. You can get the Titan for $149 retail, or just wait for the next Amazon sale and get it for a penny. You can buy the Lumia unlocked on amazon.de for a pretty penny, or hold out till next spring for it to be carrier subsidized here.
12/13/2011 8:56:35 PM
we run notes and traveller doesnt work with wp7. its gay as shit cause the traveller service is just active sync but it only supports just enough to work with the iphone. if i try to connect a wp7 to it it doesnt work cause wp7 wants me to specify a domain which traveller ignores anyway.so probably gonna end up with a 4s. kind of a bummer cause we're gonna move to exchange q1 next year. too bad my 3gs couldnt hold out till then
12/13/2011 9:10:49 PM
just my two cent; but that 800 needed to be here for these holidays for it to have a shot
12/13/2011 9:16:08 PM
Right about now I wish I had an Android phone; then I could send my malware sob story to Microsoft for a chance to win a sweet sweet Windows phone.
12/13/2011 10:34:24 PM
Anybody else force install the 8107 update? I did for my Trophy. Thank God that keyboard issue is finally fixed! That was really my only complaint about Mango. Also, received another update. Not sure if it's the update that fixes the HTC Connection Setup issue that kills 3G, but it's an update. Notification came up when I plugged into Zune. Current OS version: 7.10.8107.79

dammit. I need VZ to get on board with Nokia.
1/25/2012 1:54:05 PM
^doubtful. Microsoft burned VZ pretty bad with the whole Kin debacle. I don't see VZ being a flagship WinPhone partner anytime soon.
1/25/2012 6:05:18 PM
Kin != Windows Phone. Wish they would get over it.

Anybody using any custom ROM's with their phones yet? After installing HSPL, I installed the DFT Freedom ROM (beta) for SparkW (CDMA Verizon Trophy). I'm definitely loving it as it comes with Internet Sharing (WiFi tethering) and full interop unlock. Bazaar comes preinstalled, so you can install some neat 3rd party apps in a manner similar to the Marketplace. I've installed a registry editor and fixed my issue with scratchy bluetooth audio (set the A2DP bitpool size to 51).
4/2/2012 2:57:48 PM
Haven't touched any custom ROMs, but I'm pretty jazzed about the Lumia 900. My upgrade is at the end of May, but I'm going to swing by the AT&T store on launch day and see if I can get upgraded early.

Just so much fail in a phone os which might require a registry editor in order to correct issues with basic functionality. This is 2012, you'd think Microsoft would have learned by now. [Edited on April 2, 2012 at 11:16 PM. Reason : .]
4/2/2012 11:15:41 PM
Its not Microsoft that set that default value. It was HTC. Do you own a Windows Phone?
4/2/2012 11:30:49 PM
Nope, and now have no desire for one. Its intriguing from a design and ui standpoint but I'm quite happy with the just works iPhone. I don't really want to spend time trying to figure out the best setting for the registry
4/2/2012 11:37:51 PM
That was really the only issue I have ever had and it wasn't even an actual issue, just personal preference. You can keep your iPhone. I'm extremely happy with Windows Phone. Do you even know what a registry is? You don't sound very technically inclined to make blanket statements criticizing an OS based on a single setting change made by an OEM. Don't you have a game you could be playing on your iPhone to occupy yourself rather than not contribute to intelligent discussion here?Or go to the iPhone thread to help those people out with their issues since your phone "just works"[Edited on April 3, 2012 at 12:14 AM. are there any decent handsets on Verizon yet, or is Verizon still pissed at Microsoft?
4/3/2012 8:08:39 AM
Just the HTC Trophy still. It's still a great phone for the price....FREE! http://phones.microsoftstore.com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=36173_2dd7507726ae4de9af77d2595a54504bHopefully Nokia will get on board in the near future, but if you're looking to get a good phone right now for free (actually I think they will send you a $35 or $50 Visa Gift Card if you order) the HTC Trophy is a fantastic deal.[Edited on April 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Reason : VZW is still pissed at Microsoft I believe.]
4/3/2012 10:29:37 AM
oh, no, i'm more than happy with my galaxy nexusi just thought i might give WP8 a chance next upgrade period, and was wondering if Verizon was still butthurt about it
4/3/2012 1:16:16 PM
I guess time will tell. That will probably be when I make my upgrade purchase too.
4/3/2012 1:53:44 PM
Just got my Lumia 900. Owns bones.Only issue is the whole "no restore across phones on WP7" thing. It does suck, but totally worth it.
4/20/2012 4:42:01 PM
^I came dangerously close to buying one and jumping ship from Sprint. But the ETF is still too damn high. My contract runs out next April, so Apollo will hopefully be out by then and along with the Lumia 1000 (I have no idea if there will ever be such a thing, but if they just take the Lumia 900 and double the screen resolution, I'm SOLD).
4/20/2012 7:06:57 PM
I can't upgrade at the normal price from my Focus until August, but I think I'll just wait for Windows Phone 8. I was excited about the Lumia 900 but I'll sit on my hands until Oct/Nov.
4/23/2012 2:20:41 PM
Unfortunately, our company is contracted to Verizon for phones. Waiting patiently...
4/24/2012 11:10:00 AM
I am seriously considering jumping ship over to Android. The Galaxy Note or the HTC EVO 4G LTE are really really tempting me ... The app support is not what I think it should be, but I love the WP7 device, so its a tough call. Maybe I should wait around for WP8 and see what happens.
4/29/2012 9:11:18 AM
the galaxy note is a piece of garbage.
