Terraria is delightful. It's more action focused than Minecraft--has a more central goal and gameplay focus. Minecraft's building potential is far superior, but Terraria is more focused on boss encounters, ramping content difficulty, et cetera.

Terraria is great.I got it for 5 bucks a few years ago and put about 50 hours into it haha.
11/28/2013 11:56:31 PM
I finally broke down and got the legendary pack of Skyrim. Not sure when I'll have time to play, but currently playing Sleeping Dogs now. Still got like 20 games that I haven't played from previous steam sales.
11/29/2013 9:58:58 PM
I picked up Terraria, FF7 (damn nostalgia) and Bioshock Infinite all for less than $20.Thinking about the DLC for Civ 5 but I don't think I play it enough for it to be worth the $$.
11/30/2013 8:53:21 AM
I haven't played most the games I got during the summer sale...and will probably buy a bunch more this time
11/30/2013 10:07:55 AM
Brave New World is a must have if you life Civ V. It really balances the game really well for the end game just as Gods & Kings did for the early to mid game. It was on sale for $8 not to long ago and I'd say pick it up at that price or less. I host weekly/bi-weekly civ v games with about 20 friends. Been thinking about starting up a tournament among friends.
11/30/2013 8:17:44 PM
brave new world is $10 right now
12/1/2013 1:27:15 PM
Just picked up The Stanley Parable...been hearing good things about it
12/2/2013 5:39:14 PM
Picked up Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon.
12/2/2013 5:45:02 PM
damn, BNW for 10 dollar bucks? get it!
12/2/2013 9:51:15 PM
Get out your wallet bitches. T-30 minutes and counting.http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/406404-steam-winter-sale-2013-leaked-emails-show-sale-starts-december-19/
12/19/2013 12:35:04 PM
lol I've only made it through three games I got during the Summer sale. The only game I'm really looking for a deal on is the standalone Day Z but since it is still in alpha I don't know if that is gonna happen.
12/19/2013 1:15:07 PM
Stanley Parable and Thomas Was Alone: I have a thing for narration. Also, on a sale-related note, FTL is ruining my life. I'm terrible at it, but it's another one of those games that has me immediately restarting as soon as I file.
12/19/2013 2:20:06 PM
yea according to steam i've dumped 46 hours into ftl. its a shame because I still haven't beaten it
12/19/2013 6:53:43 PM
Ya, I've only gotten to the third sector. I've only gotten an Engi to join my ship.
12/19/2013 9:07:56 PM
Ok, had to get FTL finally.
12/19/2013 10:47:03 PM
12/20/2013 9:16:16 AM
For new people to FTL, I would say start in easy mode (if you haven't), put the pause button on the space bar or an extra mouse button, and micromanage the shit out of everything. You can set orders, open/close doors, etc. while the game is paused. I had to start out treating it like chess initially and playing it one move at a time. Once you have gotten a few ships and can start with what you like, normal difficulty is a lot more manageable. **disclaimer, you may not want to enter sector 8 or actually beat FTL on easy if you care a lot about achievements as they say on which difficulty you got them.
12/20/2013 9:35:36 AM
I really want FTL but I really don't want to destroy my computer with rage.
12/20/2013 9:42:14 AM
Seriously, it's one of those games that I don't really understand why I enjoy it. It doesn't feel fun in the usual sense, and I lose all the time, but I'm compelled to get right back to it and try to make some headway. It's worth the price of admission. You'll definitely get lots of play-time out of it.
12/20/2013 9:46:02 AM
^not on steam but you should play nethack (its free)
12/20/2013 10:17:04 AM
Word. I'll try to check it out. Thanks.
12/20/2013 10:31:16 AM
ftl is a slot machine so it has a similar effect on your brain "yes I just lost a ton of games, but next time my luck will be better!!"
12/20/2013 11:19:38 AM
it is a tad too random for my tastes. oooo i can buy...oh wait, bunch of crap i dont want.
12/20/2013 12:29:56 PM
Managed to resist Arkham Origins yesterday...of course they're gonna dangle in in front of me until tomorrow. Fuckers.
12/20/2013 1:23:37 PM
Skyrim is up for $7.49 on a flash sale right now. Legendary edition (w/ all 3 dlc's) for ~20
12/23/2013 10:10:14 PM
Been playing the Stanley Parable. It's pretty great.
12/23/2013 10:38:27 PM
I lol'd at that FTL vid.
12/23/2013 11:55:39 PM
^^amazing game, very funny and deep
12/24/2013 1:43:25 AM
Anyone have experience with Shadowrun Returns?
12/24/2013 8:24:03 AM
I too LOL'ed at that video. I did this one play through and had my ship maxed out, made so much money taking over ships instead of blowing them up so I had a landing party of 4 of those mantis guys with lvl 2 combat... I get to the end and I sent my boarding party over and the freaking ship blows up taking all 4 and ended up loosing that session...
12/25/2013 3:49:23 AM
you folks probably already know and the store is absolutely inundated, but Left 4 Dead 2 is free
12/25/2013 7:57:57 PM
Thanks for the heads up on left 4 dead 2.
12/25/2013 8:43:43 PM
no problem!
12/25/2013 8:52:57 PM
Had shown restraint so far, but just picked up Blood Dragon and Portal 2 for five bucks each
12/27/2013 9:23:08 PM
got Gone Home and played through it in a bout 2.5 hours. A really neat little game but I would probably have felt ripped off if I had paid full for it. Running about $6 right now, but absolutely 0% replayability there (not that I was expecting any just fyi).
12/27/2013 10:01:41 PM
I've been thinking about that one. I'm all for games as art, but I've bought so much that I haven't even installed
12/27/2013 10:29:06 PM
^I'd say it handles the narrative elements very well, though it tries a bit too hard with a few red herrings it throws around. As far as gameplay goes, it's pretty much completely linear and I spent most of my time overthinking things. Ultimately it's much more interactive fiction than a full fledged game. That said there are far worse ways to burn a couple hours and a couple bucks.
12/27/2013 10:40:03 PM
If you've not played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons play it now.
12/28/2013 1:04:34 AM
^picked that up today, looking forward to it
12/30/2013 5:43:42 PM
Ditto.
12/30/2013 9:25:19 PM
Kerbal Space Program on sale again... $16.19 (40% off)http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200

Mark of the Ninja is three bucks, and it's awesome, and you should buy itDitto for SuperMeatBoy[Edited on December 31, 2013 at 1:43 PM. Reason : .]
12/31/2013 1:42:57 PM
^seconded on both games
1/1/2014 1:21:57 AM
picked up mark of the ninja on that recommendation (not that it takes much to twist my arm into getting a game for <$4
1/1/2014 9:28:53 AM
Sooooo The Walking Dead appears to be on sale for 75% off! but I can not tell if it includes all five episodes minus 400 days being that 400 days is the only DLC available when you scroll down. Can someone else confirm this please?
1/1/2014 2:03:31 PM
looks separate
1/1/2014 2:57:25 PM
tis seperate, i got walking dead during the summer sale and it only has the 5 episodes
1/1/2014 4:28:42 PM
I don't mind that it's separated from 400 Days, I just want to make sure that it contains the five episodes which is hard to decipher when it says twice "by purchasing a season pass", but I don't see the option to do so. Hence the confusion.

X-COM Enemy Within is on sale on Steam for $15, but on Amazon for $10 right now. And of course it activates on Steam.
