^The worst part is that Mexico has to play South Africa to open the World Cup. It's bad enough when one of those teams is playing alone.

anyone know how many brackets you can make? ill read it later if no one knows, but after i made one it looked like there were options to make more. im gonna want to wait til closer to the tourney to make another or more if i can. gotta play out the leagues and see what star players are injured for their respected countries
12/30/2009 1:59:42 PM
You can always just edit your current one before the tourney starts.
12/30/2009 3:31:11 PM
yeah i figured i might be able to do that. but i was wondering if it was like ncaa bracket stuff where you can make more than 1.
12/30/2009 3:34:20 PM
you can create up to 5 entries, standard ESPN model
12/30/2009 5:06:50 PM
word. i have a feeling there are gonna be a lot of ties at the end of this...usually 1 and 2 arent as tough to pick in soccer. then you dont have too many rounds to guide 16 teams from there. and the odds of picking the total number of goals varies on what team you have but i would say people would range their tiebreaker goals between 10-20...

I filled out mine. It's more of a "I hope this happens" than anything else.

Considering where we should be and the talent we have.... not getting out of this group would be worse than what happened at 98 imo
1/11/2010 9:30:54 PM
Not getting out of this group would be a disaster.

2018 USA World Cup bid host cities:
1/12/2010 3:56:38 PM
As cool as it would be to have the World Cup local...I hope to God they don't chose the USA...that has FAIL written all over it.not to mention the host cities are so scattered across a massive country. The host cities need to be centralized to one area like Mid-atlantic, West, north east....not all.[Edited on January 12, 2010 at 4:01 PM. Reason : .]

^is that a serious post?
1/12/2010 4:23:11 PM
You do realize we hosted the highest-attended-to-date and what's regarded as one of the most successful world cups of all time 16 years ago, right? What exactly would have FAIL written over one in 8 or 12 more years? The bigger and better stadiums? The impressive infrastructure? Low cost/ease of travel for visiting fans? Greater possibility for more sponsorship revenue than other host countries? Moderate weather in the summer? So again, I ask, was that a serious post?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup_records#Attendancethey play in NFL stadiums jackass^ just because Americans don't give a shit doesn't mean the millions of immigrants already in the US don't give a shit tooand I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's a hell of alot cheaper/easier to find flights into the US than into somewhere like South Africa[Edited on January 12, 2010 at 5:03 PM. 1/12/2010 4:59:49 PM
^did you look at the list, jackass...because most of the USA stadiums listed are NFL stadiums.

1/12/2010 5:08:26 PM
^EXACTLY
1/12/2010 5:09:30 PM
I think you underestimate how big the World Cup would be domestically in 8-12 years. There are a lot more people who appreciate soccer but don't follow it at all than ever before. If we could get those people into the stadiums to experience an actual World Cup game that passing interest could easily develop into something more.
