The first wasn't bobbledWhy are we still talking about this
11/4/2009 10:06:53 AM
that wild punt into his body like that cost us the season!phhhhhh
11/4/2009 5:50:51 PM
accepting a 5 yard penalty after pinning them inside the 3 on 4th and 11
11/7/2009 1:37:32 PM
Yeah that was indefensible obrien is in full panic mode right now in the first quarter. Inexcusable to get that rattled at home when youre a veteran coach
11/7/2009 2:20:25 PM
Tommy West is now available!look out TOB!
11/9/2009 2:19:47 PM
guys just be patient. It takes time to build a football program. A few years down the road we'll be returning to bowls like the pizza bowl and ultimately work our way up to meineke bowls, boise, and maybe even poinsetta bowls! but we have to hang tight. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT WITH TOB!
11/14/2009 7:20:42 PM
If we lose to carowhina this season will be forgotten and nothing will change. We will lose big, CF will be empty, they will be chanting RAH RAH and Obrien will have his heel on the fire. And maybe, just maybe, this team will play with some kind of emotion next year. Tired of watching a defense that is so afraid that the next play will be the big one and an offense that is looking for a reason to quit.
11/14/2009 7:28:22 PM
i am honestly sick of all excuses:youthtime to build a programetc.Fucking NOT CREDIBLE
11/14/2009 8:48:38 PM
and just think, BB team will probably be worse.......[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 8:53 PM. Reason : w]

I think its time we cut our ties with Tom O'Brien. This year with all the expectations has only turned out to be worse than last year. I am sick of all the excuses Tom O'Brien has not turned out to be the coach that any of us thought and lets come to that realization now so we don't have to endure another season like this. I think we should go after Skip Holtz or Tommy Tuberville.
11/14/2009 8:58:02 PM
Who else would really want to coach this team?
11/14/2009 8:59:15 PM
Agreed ^. We need Tuberville. Not sold on Holtz quite yet. Either way - this Tom OBrien mediocrity disgusts me.
11/14/2009 8:59:56 PM
we have had SO much success running coaches off in the past and then even MORE success hiring their replacements.we are already a laughing stock in the basketball community because of herb
11/14/2009 9:00:37 PM
11/14/2009 9:00:59 PM
Skip Holtz has an overall record of 62 - 45 which is pretty good. I would rather have Tuberville; however, I thoroughly believe that Skip Holtz could be a great coach and that if given the opportunity we should make the hire before someone else pulls the trigger on him and gives him a chance at a bigger school. He has been doing very well at ECU and last year there was talk of him leaving for a bigger job, and I'm sure that talk will return again after they go to a bowl game and we aren't.
11/14/2009 9:04:11 PM
gets the fuck outta here with that skip holtz shit
11/14/2009 9:05:14 PM
ya he's right. this thread should be about tob. we need to go ahead and make a candidates thread for this type of discussion.
11/14/2009 9:06:08 PM
^ new thread made
11/14/2009 9:07:48 PM
you people
11/14/2009 9:08:17 PM
no no no to skip holtztommy tuberville would be awesome imo. i have always really liked him. how many of you are serious about firing tob after just three years though? i really think he is going to make us a team that consistently wins 8 games and on really good years 9 or 10. has this year been discouraging? sure, but i really think he will get this program to a good level of respectability if we just give him some time.
11/14/2009 9:08:58 PM
Tom O'Brien is not progressing from last season he is regressing. Last year we went to a bowl game this year we won't be. There aren't very good signs of progress.
11/14/2009 9:10:19 PM
well fuck if you put it like thatholtz is regressing from last season. he had a better season last yr than he is having this yearand with pinkney and most of his DL being upperclassmen, there is no signs that they will be any better next yr[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 9:11 PM. Reason : i can do that too]
11/14/2009 9:11:23 PM
Well Skip Holtz is still going to a bowl game....Also next year isn't looking so good for us. The odds that Russell Wilson leaves are increasing in my opinion so next year we will have a qb who never started in Glennon started. In my opinion Glennon should at least see substantial playing time the last two games of the season.
11/14/2009 9:13:34 PM
if you wanna base it on bowl games, o'brien has been to 3x as many bowl games as holtz in his careerplease get your logical fallacies out of the discussion.holtz is not going to play QB so again i see where this has nothing to do with glennon
11/14/2009 9:15:35 PM
for the love of god, skip holtz is not the answertom o'brien will be fine
11/14/2009 9:16:29 PM
^^^^^yeah, while ADs are at it, FIRE PETE CARROLL!!!!!! He is having such a worse year this yearTOB will build a consistent winner if we give him a chance; losing Nate Irving killed our defense this year....it is easy to forget how many AMAZING plays he made last year. It is not easy to replace a guy like that.Anyone who thinks you should fire a coach whose first full reucriting class is now mostly rs sophomores is crazy. at least give him 5-6 years to see what one or two full recruiting classes of his do. I don't think he can lead us to a national championship, but certainly an ACC Championship if the pieces fall right one year and always 7-8 wins.[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 9:17 PM. Reason : ^]
11/14/2009 9:16:37 PM
My point about Glennon was merely if you want to give O'Brien one more season then its not like next year will be great. Also here is Tom O'Brien's record broken down:TOB All-Time Versus Temple, Rutgers, UConn, I-AA Schools, and any non-BCS program other than BYU or Boise State:46 Wins5 LossesTOB All-Time Versus All Other Schools:50 Wins67 LossesTom O’Brien all-time against the AP Top 25:12 wins29 lossesTom O’Brien all-time against teams that finished the season in the AP Top 25:4 wins27 losses Thats not what I would call great.
11/14/2009 9:18:21 PM
so many chicken littles running around herethe answer is not always FIRE FIRE FIREI am disappointed we havent had a good season but the man has a track record of winning 8,9 games a season and will get things back on track.man is working with 7 FR/SO on defense and some of the worst receivers we've had in recent memory. If you fired a respected coach like o'brien after yr 3, you would be assured of getting no one but ted roof or greg robinson
11/14/2009 9:22:46 PM
From the packpride forums:"This from a good friend who is a lifetime BC fan: he had great success at BC but his record was inflated. BC would basically schedule two out of conference gimmes every year (2-0), beat ND since they have been down (3-0) and then had two Big East gimmes in Temple & Rutgers. Basically, he was guaranteed five wins every single year. He would split the rest of the Big East schedule and finish 8-4 or 9-3 every year. During his tenure, he was 0 – 10 against Miami and 2-8 against VA Tech – the meat of the Big East. One of his nicknames around BC was the “hen” because his team would lay huge an egg every year – important games where the team would inexplicitly not show up. After 8 or 9 seasons, you start to get frustrated. To his credit, he helped graduates all of the players, ran a squeaky clean program and brought a great deal of winning consistency which they are benefitting from today."
11/14/2009 9:26:35 PM
Theres no point in delaying the inevitable. Each year we wait is another year before we can be decent again and soon all the chuck talent will be gone.
11/14/2009 9:27:10 PM
I don't disagree with you about O'Brien, but listing the bowls is more of a product of BCU having the shittiest fans in college sports than actual on the field accomplishments...

the "best lb in the acc" got that reputation as a redshirt frosh and soph
11/14/2009 9:37:46 PM
^yes, he did, and he is an unbelievable talent. that is why we miss him so muchmy point is that we cannot reasonably expect another guy his age to come in and replace him and see no drop off. his position would not have been a recruiting emphasis considering he was young. we recruited depth there and guys who could fill in when he graduated. nate irving type players are very rare. take a look at ACC depth charts. not many RS fresh and sophomores are starting and leading their defenses.
11/14/2009 9:40:58 PM
i'm not going to list chuck's talent. just tune in to cbs and fox tomorrow afternoon...at bc, tob was never a great recruiter but was able to bring in the northeastern guys that wanted to stay local as well as the catholics that notre dame didn't want. well now those guys are going to pitt, cincy, bc and rutgers. All the in state guys are going to butch davis and all the florida guys are going back go fsu florida and miami. We have no solid recruiting pipeline.
11/14/2009 9:45:13 PM
^dear lord. you make my points for mechuck did recruit some talent early in his tenure. no one could argue that. my point is he LEFT us with nothing. he did not recruit nearly as well his last few years here (obviously, as we got worse every year). hence, he left us with some, but overall not a ton of talent.and 2 years ago we DOMINATED in-state recruiting. that was stated by all the "recruiting gurus". last year UNC got more. this year it is still up for grabs. we got crisp, which is a huge bonus.[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 9:49 PM. Reason : .]
11/14/2009 9:48:03 PM
tob has about as good a recruiting class as he is capable of bringing in this yearthe problem is that by the time we actually have a passable secondary the offense or DLine will suck. also since TOBs thing is consistency this kinda shit wasnt supposed to happen. the idea was that we traded low upside (no 10 win years) for the ability to go to a bowl almost every year and never have the team completely torpedo a seasonnow that the latter outcome has happened, what the fuck is the point?
11/14/2009 9:50:31 PM
^if he just brought in a great recruiting class, like you say, then give them some time. you can't expect them all to come in and start as freshmen. and, we still can go 6-6 this year. not what we expected/hoped for (before all the injuries to KEY players i might add) but i wouldn't call that torpedoing a season.
11/14/2009 9:53:33 PM
no injuries is an excuse to give up the kind of points we give up every week. also, without wilson, how many games would we hav ewon? wilson's special and people don't seem to understand how special he is. Chuck's teams quit because there was no capable qb. I'm almost sure we would have been contenders if chuck had wilson.
11/14/2009 9:57:01 PM
it's not a great recruiting class, it's a decent one that is great for TOB. probably about as highly ranked as he'll ever getas for the record, there is a 0% chance we win outand i have a hard time giving him full credit for both d1aa wins, especially since those were SHIT tier d1aa schools. the NCAA doesnt recognize the second one for bowl eligibility and since we used one last year im not even sure if the first one counts. that would put us at 2-6, which is pretty fucking bad
11/14/2009 9:57:39 PM
This season will more than likely end up with 1 ACC win...If that isn't a massive failure i don't know what is.
11/14/2009 9:58:20 PM
^^^and TOB recruited Wilson. I love Wilson. He is great. injuries are not a complete excuse on defense and i have been disappointed with our defense but i do think many underestimate what losing irving did to us athletically as well as schematically.^^Our recruiting class in '07 was ranked top 15 to 20 depending on the service you look at. that is great for anyone, not just TOB.and we may not win out, but my point was that record is still a possibility so I don't think we can fairly say this team quit or anything like that. i still think this team is playing hard every week. i don't see give up all over the field.the i-aa wins are not impressive, but they are still wins. ask duke and virginia about that
11/14/2009 10:04:12 PM
ratings are shit and mean nothing if it doesnt translate on the field. chuck recruited 2 stars like manny lawson.
11/14/2009 10:09:12 PM
it doesnt matter who recruited wilson. he came here because he could play both sports
11/14/2009 10:10:11 PM
^^Wilson was in the 2007 recruiting class. Pretty sure that was TOB. That was his first class. he came in with vermiglio, audie cole, reiskamp, and george bryan. those are all TOB recruits.Virginia lost to WILLIAM AND MARY. They are horrible in their own division. They are no better than the two we beat.and TOB recruited 2 stars like Rashard Smith (who was having a great freshman year until injury) nad Clem Johnson (the only consistent player we have in our secondary now). point being everyone sometimes recruit lesser rated guys that work out.and chuck also recruited 4 star qbs like jay davis and marcus stone. how did that work out good old chuck?[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 10:15 PM. Reason : .]
11/14/2009 10:14:25 PM
his only main weakness was recruiting qbs and he pulled in wilson. did it ever dawn on you that many 2007 guys were recruited in 2006?o and rashard smith that played all of 1 game?[Edited on November 14, 2009 at 10:17 PM. Reason : great season by smith]Vi'm not defending chuck. I'm defending chuck with respect to tob. theres a difference. [Edited on November 14, 2009 at 10:20 PM. Reason : we were NEVER this bad with chuck. even 3-9 many were close and we got 3 wins w evans at qb]
11/14/2009 10:17:01 PM
whether or not you like TOB, there is no way in hell anyone can defend chuck
