This thread is a sufficient substitute for a seat in 328.
3/5/2010 11:20:32 PM
As someone who has been known to take a dive here and there, you at least have to wait for a sufficient amount of contact.
3/6/2010 9:24:14 AM
'da fuck?

^^Danny Briere EXPOSED??
3/6/2010 1:26:35 PM
^^ lol, did that happen?
3/6/2010 8:53:44 PM
^Yeah, I missed the Stars' first goal. Here's a hit to the head by Matt Cooke on Marc Savard from this afternoon's game.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z1vJrIAg-0&feature=player_embeddedThat seems pretty much identical to the hit Mike Richards put on David Booth that he didn't get suspended for. For reference:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSILVbnofZMCooke should and will get suspended for that, especially since he has already been suspended 2 games for doing the same thing to Artem Anisimov earlier this season.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXixraReToUIf the NHL really wants to get rid of these hits, they would have a set policy for when this happens, and not make it a subjective process. In international hockey, there would have been a misconduct penalty called on the ice, and a suspension would be automatic.[Edited on March 7, 2010 at 7:52 PM. Reason : .]
3/7/2010 7:51:28 PM
In international hockey, hits to the head are illegal. This is shoulder-first, and totally clean by NHL rules.
3/7/2010 8:00:50 PM
I'm aware of that, which is why I used it as an example. It SHOULD be illegal in the NHL. It might not prevent people from doing it, but it would make the punishments fair. I'm tired of this prior history bullshit being a part of Campbell's decision making process. Have a set punishment for when this happens, and if a player is a repeat offender, then have a tiered suspension process for each time it happens. That way it's the same for all players.[Edited on March 7, 2010 at 8:10 PM. Reason : It's a dangerous hit, shoulder first or not]
3/7/2010 8:09:40 PM
You can't have a set punishment for something that's not illegal. The hit on Anisimov was a charge.
3/7/2010 8:17:16 PM
3/7/2010 8:39:17 PM
Maybe so, but it's not. Call for the rules to change, sure, but calling for a suspension for something that's completely legal is silly.
3/7/2010 8:51:14 PM
what's messed up is that cooke will be suspended while richards wasn't
3/7/2010 9:32:10 PM
The Detroit-Chicago game was rockin'.
3/7/2010 10:18:06 PM
way to go Jersey! gotta love getting blanked by the shittiest team in the league
3/8/2010 12:27:24 AM
Your guess as to whom it's directed towards. . .
3/8/2010 12:44:34 AM
a washed up goalie?
3/8/2010 12:52:09 AM
They spent too much of the game trying to get Fernando Pisani's ulcerative colitis to flare up.
3/8/2010 12:57:51 AM
Marc Savard likely out for the year. Bruins playoff chances killed.
3/9/2010 1:20:45 PM
looks like cooke won't be suspended after all, my mistake, i figured because he's a goon who's missing teeth he'd get the hookbut it also looks like next year, no more boom headshots even if they are currently "clean"shane willis is retroactively pleased
3/10/2010 12:29:01 PM
48 year old Chris Chelios has been called up by Atlanta.

Much hyped Chicago/Washington game on NBC. Ovechkin just boarded the shit out of Brian Campbell and got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. He should get suspended as a repeat offender as well.
3/14/2010 1:02:41 PM
That was a bullshit call and you know it.
3/14/2010 1:11:09 PM
What?
3/14/2010 1:16:11 PM
Of course it was a boarding call, but the game misconduct call was crazy.
3/14/2010 1:20:10 PM
Its about time they started calling Ovie. That guy gets away with so much more than he should. I like him, but they need to be fair about how they call players. Thankfully Campbell was okay.
3/14/2010 1:21:14 PM
It was a dirty play... but it was a push to the side where Campbell lost his balance. It probably should have been a minor or double minor penalty, not a major. There definitely shouldn't have been a game misconduct though. Those refs were way overreacting.
3/14/2010 1:27:08 PM
It was a bullshit game misconduct. The only reason some of you people say otherwise is because it was ovie and you know it.[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 1:46 PM. Reason : .]
3/14/2010 1:30:01 PM
that's a BULLSHIT game misconduct
3/14/2010 2:00:57 PM
Bullshit. I don't know if it is worth a suspension or not, but that is the kind of reckless play that pisses me off about Ovechkin. After watching it several times, there's no way you can say it was a push from the side. He was completely behind Campbell and shoved him into the boards FROM THE GOAL LINE. That is one of the most dangerous plays you can make in hockey. When you add Campbell being injured, then this was called perfectly by the referees. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial, especially that fatass Bordreau. Also, you can't issue a double minor for boarding. It's either a minor or a major, depending on severity. And as far as the game misconduct is concerned:
3/14/2010 2:05:29 PM
And he'll definitely be suspended, as this is his third game misconduct and that carries an automatic one game ban.Semin should be watching his back. ]
3/14/2010 2:22:21 PM
wow... Didn't think that the Caps could come back in this game. Especially without Ovechkin.
3/14/2010 2:40:38 PM
Steve Downie is a thug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHeh3tyUL10Nice sell by Crosby of course.
3/14/2010 8:12:10 PM
god i hate downie. it seems like his only goal is to injure people.[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 8:41 PM. Reason : -]
3/14/2010 8:36:11 PM
Apparently Campbell is out for season. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=314096It's going to make it interesting to see what the league does with this.
3/15/2010 12:52:39 PM
I've just re-watched that hit by Ovie on Campbell and that was a dirty and extremely dangerous play. Absolutely zero regard for the other player's safety.Ovechkin needs a message sent to him by the League.
3/15/2010 12:58:30 PM
i like ted leonsis overall, but come on man, you didn't amass a huge fortune by being an idiot. i am wondering if he's just making caps fans happy by pretending he doesn't know the difference between an illegal hit and a legal one.
3/15/2010 2:03:29 PM
Yeah, Ovie needs to be suspended for a game or two.
3/15/2010 3:56:37 PM
Ted's just pandering to the fanbase, he doesn't need to impress anybody else. I don't see a problem with it. It's good to see an owner who actually cares about his team instead of one who probably spends 5 days out of a year in town and is rarely if ever heard from.
3/15/2010 4:02:51 PM
Let's be fair to ol' PK...whenever there's someone to throw under the bus, he's here ASAP.I can't wait to see what PK says if we replace Tripp with Aaron Ward.
3/15/2010 4:07:14 PM
^^ ted's a good owner, no doubtif he were to buy the redskins i think i'd poop myself with glee
