Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo ConceptWhat the Panamera should have looked like to begin with. It has a lovely back end, as opposed to the hideous back on the Panamera. They should just go ahead and release as the next gen Panamera.Driving video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMXRswBnqDQ

Fuck you VAG. Porsche is NOT supposed to be a full line automaker. Way to dilute the brand. Go fuck yourselves
12/11/2012 10:15:37 AM
lol... yeah it sucks... but they do make more money of exploiting the name then the cars that created it so of course the bean counters are going to do this.
12/11/2012 10:47:28 AM
^^ Agreed, but my point is if they HAD to make a car like that, this concept is way better than the production Panamera.Anyway, loosen up, times are changing. It is a lot more difficult for such niche car companies to exist they have in the past. The only way they can exist comfortably now is if they get absorbed into bigger more pedestrian car companies, or if they expand their product line to appeal to more than just niche buyers. Also, mandatory mileage requirements for the future makes it necessary for them to offer a bigger variety of cars.

Yes...however did they survive from the 50s till the 2000s without the Cayenne
12/12/2012 8:08:43 AM
Pat you are such a purist....I love it...
12/12/2012 8:32:20 AM
I can grudgingly accept the Panamera with the rear end restyled to look like the pictures above. The Cayenne is just unforgivable.
12/12/2012 9:32:03 AM
what do you expect since it's now owned by a more family friendly company
12/12/2012 9:52:40 AM
Shit, the 911 is family-friendly enough for many families if they're realistic about how much space they need...hell, most families if they have a 2nd car that's a sedan.
12/12/2012 10:19:45 AM
most people who have a porsche have more than one car, I'd guess
12/12/2012 10:39:43 AM
well it went from a company that made cars for wealthy enthusiasts to one that makes cars primarily for the trophy wives of wealthy enthusiasts.

Think that the new 918 Spyder is overly complex and gayed up with heavy hybrid shit? Well here's the cure:
1/24/2013 12:57:34 PM
I don't understand where the 960 will fall in the Porsche range...?I thought the 918 was going to be 'F70' fighter? It will come with similar power (795 hp) and price (price has been confirmed to be $845,000).So where does the 960 fit among the GT2 RS and the 918? Yes, the 918 is a plug-in hybrid, and is heavy (3,750 lbs), but its performance (whatever is known) is still amazing and at the very top:0-60: < 3 sectop speed: 200+ mphnurburgring: 7 min 14 secTalking of the 918, this is a very good (and long read) read, with all sorts of technical details and driving impressions:http://www.autoblog.com/2012/10/01/2014-porsche-918-spyder-deep-dive-review/
1/24/2013 8:39:56 PM
The 960 will be Porsche's top performing supercar, and it will cost less than the 918 by a fair amount. The 918 is their "technological showcase".And as amazing as you think the 918 is the 2010 Viper ACR is faster than it around the Nurburgring.
1/25/2013 8:30:38 AM
991 911 Turbo will be offered with PDK transmission only. Ditto the 911 GT3.RIP manual transmission.

yes, pointless, but interesting
5/11/2013 5:51:31 AM
What the fuck, that's the official pricing for the Turbo (and Turbo S)?? Jesus that's high.(not that I could afford it at it's previous price point).
5/13/2013 8:52:02 AM
Jay Leno drives the 918... Damn it sounds great!http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qlBUB9RqY_I
8/30/2013 9:18:21 PM
Production version of the 918 finally debuts. And it also shatters the standard production car world record for lapping the Nurburgring! Quite an achievement considering it is significantly heavier than the recent previous record holder... but yeah 887 hp is no joke.6:57 http://www.worldcarfans.com/113091062745/porsche-918-spyder-rocks-the-nurburgring-in-657---lapThe gauntlet has been thrown. Remains to be seen what the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari can do... IMO they will both break the 918's record, especially the Ferrari should annihilate it handily.
9/10/2013 3:50:40 PM
Impressive to get below 7 seconds. Still, the previous record holder is the Viper ACR, which costs about 15% of the 918's cost. Put that way not overly impressive
9/11/2013 10:24:48 AM
^ true. but i just want to quote something here:
9/17/2013 11:21:59 AM
^I have no doubt it's slower around a track than the F70 or P1. Also, after 7-8 minutes of flogging the 918 on the track there's no more juice in the batteries and it mostly becomes dead weight. You can see that by watching the 'Ring video. And I'd still prefer owning a Carrera GT [Edited on September 17, 2013 at 12:56 PM. Reason : k]
9/17/2013 12:50:01 PM
I don't know if I agree w/the "dead weight" deal you got there sir...It's a hell of a car, quite the showcase.
9/17/2013 4:36:55 PM
9/18/2013 8:10:43 AM
is it actually dead weight? i thought the flywheel was constantly recharging the batteries
9/18/2013 2:23:35 PM
It does, but after 7-8 minutes of hard drive (at least at the 'Ring) it can't keep up.
9/18/2013 3:54:34 PM

that thing looks like it's heavy and understeers, you should sell it
9/24/2013 8:26:27 AM
It's got the sport suspension/seats, hollow spoke wheels and even more power than the last time you rode in it. So in conclusion... Yeah.

I don't have a GF but several girls have asked me to see that. Why WOULDN'T somebody want to go see classic Porsches at the art museum?
10/14/2013 4:22:26 PM
This pretentious art douchebag doesn't want you to see it:http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/the-ncma-fills-its-galleries-with-porsches-but-wheres-the-curation/Content?oid=3755740
10/31/2013 9:48:23 AM
I definitely plan on going, at least once. Getting some tickets through a friend for free, including to 1-2 private events there where we get to look at them much more in depth, and get free food/booze
10/31/2013 10:15:31 AM
I went. I think the argument that "in a state with the sixth-highest unemployment rate in the country, this opportunity to worship the toys of the rich seems the worst kind of socioeconomic taunting," is pretty ridiculous but agree with basically everything else in the Indy article. It should have been much better curated, and I was really expecting to see more exhibits about design. All it is is just a automotive museum, if you have ever been to any automotive museum it will look familiar. Its still worth it if you are at all interested in Porsches, but beyond that the Indy piece is accurate.
10/31/2013 12:37:16 PM
I have not been, and might not disagree with the way it is presented, as I would be very interested in the deign and backstory on the cars. I was specifically attacking the class warfare aspect of his piece and how cars aren't art, just toys. Meanwhile, much of the greatest art in the world serves no purpose or utility and is patronized almost exclusively by the ultra wealthy. Porsche sells some hyper expensive cars, but also sells cars that can be purchased by the common man. This isn't a exhibit about just super cars that are out of many folks earnings in their entire lifetime. The writer went into more detail about his pretentiousness (not to mention blaming the NCMA for pandering to the conservatives in the NCGA by putting this redneck trash in "our" museum)and detailed how many people would not have gone hungry if the money spent developing these cars went to feeding the homeless and how little he would be paid to write the article trashing the exhibit.since I have not sent he exhibit myself, I obviously cannot comment on the setup of the exhibit, but I think I will still go.
