The defense is the most important thing. If the defense plays well next year, we will be just fine with Jake as our quarterback.
4/14/2009 9:54:20 PM
^thank you, captain obvious
4/14/2009 9:57:11 PM
if peppers is here next season i'm already calling it a wash

i really doubt peppers will be back next yearas we get closer to the draft, someone will get desperate. [Edited on April 15, 2009 at 3:58 PM. Reason : .]

Interesting stat from Packman earlier today:Last season, at this point in April when the 2008-09 schedules were released, the Indianapolis Colts had the 2nd toughest schedule...just like the Panthers this year, the strength of schedule is based on the cumulative record the year before of all the teams on their schedule...similar to the Panthers, the Colts' opponents had roughly a 45-50 games over .500 recordHow did the Colts' opponents actually finish last season? well below .500The morale of the story is that freaking out about SOS in April is ridiculous
4/15/2009 4:41:50 PM
you can find one example to back up anything....I'd be curious to see a list of past playoff teams SOS from the year before.Taking the numbers/winning percentages out of the equation, our division is one of the toughest in football...that combined with playing the AFC and NFC east would make for a tough schedule almost any year.then theres that pesky up one year down the next thing....which, to be honest, worries me more than anything.
4/15/2009 4:54:21 PM
Here's another example:Do you know who had the #1 toughest schedule last year? The Pittsburgh Steelers. IIRC they had a pretty good season.Another thing though, while everybody is freaking out about playing the NFC East and AFC East which are very good conferences...I guarantee you not one of our 16 opponents (ok 13 with division home/home) is looking forward to play us...we might not have the Chiefs or Raiders or Lions on our schedule, but we're not exactly a bad team eitherPeople will get injured, a couple teams that are supposed to be shitty will be good, a couple teams that are supposed to be great will underperform, etcPlus, we haven't even had the draft yet[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 5:35 PM. 4/15/2009 5:33:22 PM
they did have a QB that has now won 2 super bowls though
4/15/2009 5:34:36 PM
Trade peppers for boldin and a 2nd or 3rd round pickSMith and Boldin would be
4/17/2009 9:37:06 AM
^where are you getting this from? imagination?
4/17/2009 12:28:55 PM
yes sir they said on espn that arizona wanted a 1st and a 3rdthe Panthers want 2 1st or a 1st and a 2ndseems like it could work
4/17/2009 1:24:45 PM
You're right, we are one of many listed as showing interest via ESPNi....
4/17/2009 1:28:28 PM
the likelyhood of that happening is slim to none.and slim just left town.
4/17/2009 1:36:28 PM
I just want this thing to get some closure
4/17/2009 2:36:29 PM
4/19/2009 11:11:11 PM
omfg this is killing me...i wanted peppers gone 2 months ago and hes STILL here!!
4/21/2009 1:44:59 AM
If Peppers ends up staying a Panther he should give half his $16 million salary to charity. He does that I might rethink holding a grudge against him all season.
4/21/2009 8:42:10 AM
nate salley and james anderson signed their RFA contracts yesterday, which is good.
4/21/2009 8:50:09 AM
^^ because you getting rid of your grudge will make him sleep better at night
4/21/2009 9:43:05 AM
i'm not getting my hopes up on Peppers getting traded before the draft
4/21/2009 10:45:12 AM
McShay has the Panthers picking up Anthony Hill at TE in the 5th, I'd be all for that addition.
4/21/2009 4:10:09 PM
ok what if the panthers told NE who to draft and then AFTER the draft we worked out a trade?
4/21/2009 10:58:40 PM
mcshay is an idiot and must not realize that we have drafted a shitton of TE's and are loaded at that position right now. i'd be very very dissapointed if for some reason we took Hill.
4/22/2009 9:23:37 AM
^ i agree. There are much greater needs. What we have now is fine at TE. ^^^^you never know what will happen before a draft, people start going crazy. That being said, I dont see a situation where it gets better for us. If people havent given up the picks by now, they arnt likely to do so now.
4/22/2009 10:51:51 AM
^ of course they are. jared allen was traded on draft day. tons of stuff goes on the day of the draft. i wont be surprised either way if Peppers is here or gone come saturday night.
4/22/2009 11:08:48 AM
I hope we trade Peppers to PhiladelphiaIf he is too much of a pussy to handle criticism from Panthers fans...
4/22/2009 11:52:52 AM
unfortunately we are in talks with the Bills for awful QB JP Losman
4/23/2009 2:08:58 PM
^from what I read it was basically a passing inquiry...although I have no idea why they would even inquire about him....We have solid backups, with one or both more than capable of picking up for Jake....especially with our run game.imo, we should be focused solely on depth @ both lines and @ CB.
4/23/2009 2:14:13 PM
Aaaaaaand...... Delhomme just signed a 5yr/$42.5mil extension
4/23/2009 2:45:39 PM
YES WE ARE SO LUCKY!
4/23/2009 2:46:46 PM
i just don't know what to say here
4/23/2009 2:53:50 PM
meh...haven't looked into it, but I can almost guarantee it shifts a good chunk of the money that was to go on this year's cap over the next few...just because its a 5 year deal, doesn't mean he'll be here 5 more....infact, I'd bet a large sum that he won't play it out. What this may be an indicator of, however, is their intent/belief that pepps will be here next season.
4/23/2009 2:54:36 PM
Oh the comments on the charlotte.com article will be pricelessSo much Jake hate, how will they be able to concisely express it in a post confined by a 1000-character limit
4/23/2009 3:10:21 PM
people chill out...this was expected as all it does is give us room on the cap.
4/23/2009 3:11:09 PM
i guess this is technically offseason news...but my mom pulled lauren delhomme's tooth out today at recess. woooo! (that smiley actually applies)
4/23/2009 3:19:06 PM
jake
4/23/2009 3:29:58 PM
should've just cut him and been content with going 5-11 with McCown or Moore at the helmFUCK JAKE!!1
4/23/2009 3:33:21 PM
^with our run game, I actually think we would compete if any of the 3 were at the helm.we have one of the best ground games in the league, and the best we've ever had as a team.[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 3:36 PM. Reason : .]
4/23/2009 3:35:52 PM
Panthers pwnt through 2014.Stay home.
4/23/2009 3:37:25 PM
Panthers Super Bowl L Champs
4/23/2009 4:02:07 PM
Jake is not a good QB. I'd take Moore any day, at least he hasn't proven that he sucks yet.
4/23/2009 6:06:22 PM
Panthers + Super Bowl = L
4/23/2009 8:28:22 PM
Ernie how old was Favre when he left Green Bay? I'm guessing a good number of years older than Jake currently is
4/23/2009 8:32:13 PM
37 or 38But it doesn't really matter, he's an immortal superhero
4/23/2009 8:34:34 PM
^^i'm gonna guess 2 or 3but everyone knows delhomme is far superior to favre anyhow
4/23/2009 8:34:45 PM
we sure did have a shitty record last year with jake
4/23/2009 8:39:11 PM
4/23/2009 8:41:43 PM
I was in the upper deck of the stadium and he didn't look too greatAaron Rodgers probably had a better view though, from his couch
