I really don't think the personal attacks/characterizations against Smath74 are called for. So what if he's fairly conservative. There are PLENTY of unimpeachable facts in which to argue the disaster that was the George W. Bush presidency without going after folks here. Trust me, you'd rather have Smath around than the creator of this thread....

I don't think my post was an attack, without opening his photo gallery I know exactly what he looks like. He weighs over 230 lbs and has a goatee. Also, probably a shaved head or very short buzz cut.

I feel like any dumbass who argues that a guy who started two wars (one on false information possibly through intentionally fabricated reasons), set up huge deficit spending during a healthy economy, allowed the largest terrorist attack in the history of the world to happen on his watch, set us down a path of taking away numerous civil liberties and rights from US citizens, and then presides over the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression for "not being conservative enough" deserves any and every criticism he gets. He is stupid and doesn't understand shit about politics and government. Obama is worse than bush? ARE YOU FUCKING HIGH OR SOMETHING??? People like smath are the reason this country is going in the shitter because they talk out their ass without knowing a fucking thing that they're talking about.

^um, what?

not conservative...
also, saying he started wars based on bad intelligence is one thing, but "intentionally fabricated reasons" is a pretty strong accusation, even with your "possibly" qualifier.

you are bashing him for saying bush wasn't conservative enough, and then list all the NOT conservative things bush did?

to clarify, i am speaking to conservatism in the most traditional sense. i don't believe a lot of republicans today are true conservatives.

we knew the evidence was bad, and there was an intentional plan to discredit the contrary evidence that went against the narrative that a few administration members wanted. you can get into a semantics argument if you want, but to me that is an intentionally fabricated reason.

^^^ well in that case then Obama is more conservative than bush was on foreign policy and his point is still equally as stupid.

haha.

ok... if i must respond... I don't have a goatee. I did have a fucking awesome mustache in march though for our mustache competition.

and my reference to bush being not conservative enough... he spent too much damn money and encroached on too many personal freedoms for my taste. I never voted for him.

not a fan of obama... that's true too.

i guess when i say "conservative" i mean more fiscally and less socially (if we are dumbing it down to that level.)

What isn't conservative about cutting taxes and deregulating the financial industry? That's conservative policy and it was absolutely disastrous, which still makes your original argument that bush was better than Obama incredibly terrible.

If we're talking about neoliberal=neoconservative=conservative then we need to establish it first. Most people in the US don't use that term. But if you're using neoliberal and liberal interchangeably then that's even worse.

Yes, I am arguing that higher taxes on those who can afford to pay more is a more efficient use of resources for society as a whole and sensible regulation aimed at achieving a more stable long-term national and world economy is the answer. And your simplistic, dumbass, hardline ideology that is fed to you by the puppets at Fox News is fucking the world up.

There's a reason George W. Bush's name hasn't been mentioned by anybody in over 4 years. That's because he might have been the worst president in the history of the country, easily top 5. And republicans want to double down on his economic policy. Get your head out of your ass and realize they would turn the entire country into the laughingstock that is the North Carolina GA if they had the chance.

^^ Part of me agrees that he should, as the only living GOP former President, be eviscerating Trump and his enablers.

another part of me wonders if his calculation is simply that it would make things worse, not better, or at the very least not help at all, and if he might be right.

^^^^why wouldn't he be silent? After people trashed kamala for bringing liz cheney in. W Bush in a no win...most repubs dislike him, the dems that supported what kamala/Cheney did in 2024 obviously in the minority, the uber left def wouldn't care for any support he gives....its like hell I'd be quiet too...
