Well maybe? I haven't watched an iota of college basketball this year I just look at the RPI and realize they can't be very good. It's near impossible to get in at-large if you're outside the top 50.I believe #74 was the highest ever with New Mexico one year...Maybe Herb has friends on the committee or something.
3/2/2008 5:18:08 PM
Nice.Way to go Herb! from 8-22 to Dancing......While NCSU will not even get a spot in the NIT
3/2/2008 5:19:25 PM
What was the highest we ever got in during Herb's five year run??I remember there being a year when we were in the low 60s or high 50s...I think.

USA Today/Espn poll (could not find the AP that far back... and could not find any data before 2001)2001-2002 (week #19)25. N.C. State 23-11 862003-2004 (week #18)20. N.C. State 21-10 157[Edited on March 2, 2008 at 5:35 PM. Reason : ?]
3/2/2008 5:32:19 PM
We were usually in the 30's-40's.
3/2/2008 5:34:26 PM
Herb's best seed at State was 3rd, in which State lost in the 2nd round to Vanderbilt after having a 13 point lead with 5 minutes to go.

^^ Thats NCSU for you... The Heart Attack Pack.... We play well until the time it really matters... Usually the second half is when I go ahead and turn off the tv.

#36 in the new poll
3/3/2008 1:57:18 PM
Wow...when the hell did Herb get the refs in his pocket? Jesus...that's UNC and Duke absurd.USC: FT 10/11ASU: FT 34/39Something strange about that.
3/3/2008 2:58:28 PM
I think the refs are really watching U$C right now- a couple players are known to play dirty (Gibson and Jefferson). I know hundreds of Bruin fans deluged every PAC 10 higher-ups email and phone after this....http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc277/vidman13/?action=view¤t=SC34.flvBruin fans were pissed about an inbounds pass that was thrown off a Bruin's face the week before, decided to take it up with the officials. I'm guessing that Howland went to the commish and they started watching $C a little more.[Edited on March 3, 2008 at 4:09 PM. Reason : .]

^^^ nah, it was just that the Sun Devils took the ball to the basket while USC settled for jumpers. Harden, Pendergraph and Shipp got fouled hard several times within 5 feet of the basketlook at the rest of the the FT numbers for the other PAC10 games ASU has played. trust me, he doesn't get calls

3/4/2008 12:20:36 PM
that's like saying Duke never gets calls because they had one game where all 5 starters fouled outdid you watch the USC game or are you just reporting on what you've read?
3/4/2008 3:29:24 PM
I watched it and saw 2 technical fouls, 1 intentional, and at least 4 with 2:00 left. TKE is right as well, ASU was driving to the basket while U$C was throwing up 3's.
3/4/2008 4:19:29 PM
We (NCSU) drove inside and Duke shot 3s and yet they easily outshot us at the line. But we play in the ACC where the powers in blue get everything.
3/5/2008 2:15:45 AM
Herb was named a finalist for the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Coach of the Yearthe others are: Rick Barnes (Texas); Keno Davis (Drake); John Calipari (Memphis); Mike Krzyzewski (Duke); Lon Kruger (UNLV); Sean Miller (Xavier); Matt Painter (Purdue); Bruce Pearl (Tennessee); Rick Pitino (Louisville); Bo Ryan (Wisconsin); Kevin Stallings (Vanderbilt).http://www.sportswriters.net/usbwa/news/2008/awards080305.html
3/5/2008 3:29:26 PM
you know its HARD out here for a coach (i am the man)
3/5/2008 3:38:39 PM
I'd like to see him get PAC 10 COY at least. I'm surprised he was picked and Trent Johnson from the Trees was left out of the National running....
3/5/2008 3:53:11 PM
yeah, a little surprisingbut i'll take it!no television for the Oregon game tomorrow. gotta watch it on ESPN360
3/5/2008 4:00:22 PM
remember when he was the acc coy at nc state? the school he coached for 10 years and got as far as the sweet sixteen just once?yeah, he's pretty much the best coach ever.oh and by the way, roffle
3/5/2008 4:09:06 PM
look at it again.
3/5/2008 4:23:04 PM
Coach in top 12 >>>>>>>>>Coach in bottom 12

3/5/2008 4:27:09 PM
dont forget Caron Butler
3/5/2008 4:35:06 PM
nah, i blame that one on the refs
3/5/2008 4:39:10 PM
Hodge did foul himI just thought you were naming all the players who seemed to singlehandedly knock us out of the tourney during Herb's tenure at State**State refers to North Carolina State University, not Arizona State University
3/5/2008 4:41:40 PM
Gerald Wilkins singlehandedly knocked State out of contention one year
3/5/2008 4:43:49 PM
what about PJ Tucker?
3/5/2008 4:43:56 PM
should have recruited that motherfucker
3/5/2008 4:44:41 PM
Tucker and Lamarcus Aldridge beat the ever loving shit out of us]
3/5/2008 4:46:24 PM
I miss that.
3/5/2008 4:47:03 PM
Herb already knew he was leaving Raleigh, so he wanted Barnes to look red hot when Fowler came a'knockin
3/5/2008 4:47:36 PM
It makes sense.
3/5/2008 4:48:32 PM
Know what else I miss? That one time we played UNC at home Herb's last year here and I remember specifically one play where our offense was so out of whack we had Cedric Simmons trying to bury threes because we were desperate from a whole game's worth of ass whooping.
3/5/2008 4:49:43 PM
lemme do some quick research of that game....
3/5/2008 4:51:20 PM
^^wathttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=260530152Simmons put up one three and made it loland he made it to put State up 18-14 lolhttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=260530152[Edited on March 5, 2008 at 5:03 PM. Reason : ,]

Herb HAD to leave Statehis players were getting sexually distracted too often
3/5/2008 5:04:46 PM
3/5/2008 5:06:17 PM
I cannot think of Jordan Collins without at least cracking a smileHe was truly the man
3/5/2008 5:07:29 PM
3/5/2008 5:12:35 PM
Why yesI'd prefer being last in the conference to coming in top 4 any day of the week.
3/5/2008 5:43:41 PM
when you make one sweet sixteen in 10 years, does it really matter?
3/5/2008 9:14:58 PM
