I mean he was trying to head it over, but to have that much faith in your header to go over from that position...when all you really had to do was box out or clear it...is bizarre to say the least

yeah...a nice hard boot would've be fine...even if he successfully executes the header, he's still a fool for trying it

but I gotta feel sorry for the guy...if they lose he'll go down as the Ray Finkel of Liverpool

just got done watching this on dvr...riise prob didnt want to clear with his off foot, cause it might have done the same thing(sliced). but my question is where were 5 minutes of extra time in that half? chelski got a gift from riise and the refs in injury time

Chelsea got a gift in a game that was dominated by Liverpool for 60 minutes. Chelsea is in the drivers seat now. Its hard to win at the Bridge.

What a shitty draw........Drogba was a pussy all game and Kuyt and Skrtel looked like the reds who wanted that game

even so, nothing happened in that half to even warrant 4 minutes. no goal till extra time, shit the one and only yellow card of the match came in the 90th minute i think. the reffing this year, worldwide, has just been appalling.

and chelsea thinking they deserved that goal in that game, that makes me laugh. they were no where to be seen in that game.

FUCK OFF CHELSKI FC

[Edited on April 23, 2008 at 11:12 AM. Reason : not a liverpool fan, but hate chelski about as much as arsenal]

This is true but I wouldn't count Liverpool out just yet... if they can get a goal and force extra-time, I would put them back in the driver's seat based on their experience and especially if they get into penalties. Cech's no slouch, but I would take Reina in a shootout over anybody else in the world (except maybe Brad Friedel )

I read that bullshit that Frank Lampard said they deserved the tie. He must not have been watching the same game.

It doesnt matter anyways, man utd is gonna win.

I was really disappointed in the game. I always tell the teams that I coach to tape the games or to just skip last period and watch the game, because I think watching soccer at this level really helps kids see what's possible, but man I hope none of my players watched that game.

^ it wasn't that bad... there was some very good soccer in it -- Babel was the perfect example of how to attack defenses in the 2nd half, that brilliant move by Gerrard on the corner of the box and his volley saved by Cech, even though Drogba's a bitch sometimes, his first touch is so great, solid positioning by both defenses... those all of the top of my head

it never hurts to watch the highest level no matter how "bad" the game is

100% he missed that once the goalie went to Ronaldo's left. He always goes to his left, and I just had an itch the goalie was going to beat him to the point

It was bad because of how inconsistently well the players that they kept harping on were playing. When you know the game, you notice the stuff that you were talking about. However, these kids are very casual in their appreciation of the game, and so they'll think that whatever the announcers say or focus on is where the quality lies. I guess I should blame ESPN, and not the game...

messi hasnt done much, he just had that flick over evra. It was more shitty defending than messi making a great move. Barca is being so boring with the ball, the pass it around the box but nobody does anything. Its like a slow version of arsenal.

Anyone else think Ronaldo should have gotten a second penalty? The defender made absolutely no attempt to play the ball and I think it should have been obstruction.

marquez didnt go for the ball, but ronaldo went down a little too easy i think. It was tough tho, it couldve gone either way

^^ The only reason he went down so easily was because Marquez did enough to not let him get to the ball. If he had stayed up he definitely wouldn't have gotten a penalty. If he goes down he atleast has a chance.

Bottom line: Marquez did enough to keep him from the ball without making any attempt to go for the ball. That's obstruction in my book, regardless of who is doing the fouling/being fouled.
