So have they ever said anything about Jan sleeping with Hunter or do they just throw clues out there?

I thought last nights 30 Rock was hilarious.

there have been clues for quite a while that Jan had a thing with Hunter. It was pretty much obvious back a season or two ago when they were at HQs and there was some flirting or strange looks or something (don't remember, exactly) between Jan and Hunter

There were tons of subtle jokes that make that episode really funny.

i think what we have here is a difference of opinion between the definitions of 'subtle' and 'joke'.

Thats because Americans have an obsession with LOVING things and then HATING them as soon as they get big. Its the too cool for school attitude.

That episode was funny. It's not one of their top five episodes by any means but it was good. Everyone can relate to being somewhere with a couple that is making them uncomfortable by fighting.

no man, it's not that. I, and i'm sure others, are very happy that others are jumping on the Office bandwagon. That will just help ensure the long life of the show.

but for those of us that have been fans for a long time, it's fine to point out major changes or short comings of the current shows. It's clear to any long-time fan that the quality of the current season just isn't up to the earlier standards.

The last episode was like how 90% of the british one was. The american one has always placed a heavier emphasis on light-hearted humor, and since the fanbase is so huge, it's not surprising to see some bristle at this unexpected type of wit.

yeah, not really at all. Season 1 was the most like the British one, especially given that many of the episodes were direct rewrites of the UK Office

I can see what he means. The UK office is based upon more dry awkward humor than the US office. That last episode made me feel very awkward in regard to Jan and Michael, and reminded me of the UK office. If you rewatch the UK office there's a bunch more long pauses and completely awkward moments, whereas in the US office most of the jokes are resolved or completed right after they were made. The UK office seems to continue the mood of the current joke into the next scene.

yeah, i think we all know that the UK version really took "awkward pause" to a whole new level, but the Jan and Michael dynamic for the Dinner Party, for the most part, felt forced, i think.

"stuff that is awkward for the sake of being awkward" is not the same as "dry humor".

this was awkward for the sake of being awkward. there was nothing clever about it.

ha, the grave scene was great. Some good Dwight lines.

btw, i've been complaining about this since S1, but really - it's time to take Ryan out of the credits as a main character. What was the last episode he was in, much less a significant part of?

When you write the episodes, you get to leave your character in the intro.

But who gives a shit either way?

i know he's a writer, but so are Toby and Kelly.
my theory is that he was supposed to be a major character at the beginning, but Michael, Dwight, Jim and Pam were enough as primary characters and they didn't really need another big character like Ryan. I imagine the pay scale between title characters and secondary characters is pretty significant though, so i guess i would put up a hell of a fight too to stay as a title character.

just watched Andy's little thing at the end. so much packed into those few lines

"I did this, for the little guy. For Joe Six Pack. The guy who wakes up every morning in his $400 a month apartment, and wonders how he is going to pay his mortgage this month. Wonders how he is going to fill his car up with oil. Wonders, 'how am I going to pay my kid's orphanage bills?' That guy.... shouldn't have to wonder where he's going to park"

btw, whole thing is on hulu already http://www.hulu.com/watch/17483/the-office-the-chairmodel

Next week's episode is titled "Did I stutter?"

I'm guessing Jim proposes and Pam says no, or at least not yet.

I agree that they're going to drag out the happy ending, but that doesn't mean they won't throw a curve first.

Did anyone else notice that the chair model was Melora Hardin (Jan) in a wig? I guess that's why Michael was attracted to her.

yeah i didn't really like those as much as the current ones...even though i watched the british version first and loved it. it like it was too forced or something, like they were just copying it straight up. or maybe i was just used to the british people doing playing the roles. i dunno

and yeah, last night was a friggin great episode. i actually rewound and watched a few parts over again cause they were that funny. oh and the gf laughed a few times too, which usually never happens during the office

I'm not a fan of the Jim/Pam storyline.. they were both funnier apart then together, and although I would hope for them to have gotten together eventually it seems to early in the show for it to have happened.

Maybe just me on that, I would have liked to have seen this season drag them out apart a bit longer and then have more of a dramatic instance bring them together.
