no - they can fail at any timewhy? basically because football games aren't twitch reflex games like FPS games are

So that is what my husband and little brother have been playing off and on the past three days, for hours at a time. Boys and their toys.

Are the new features/upgrades from 07 worth getting this for Xbox?
7/23/2007 8:35:54 PM
^^ he would play with you if you didn't yap so much
7/23/2007 9:17:58 PM
lawl. hey, i offered.
7/23/2007 9:28:23 PM
haha - i have made exactly one disparaging remark in the 360 thread about the consolemeanwhile you 360 tards spend all your time in the ps3 thread shitting a brick
7/23/2007 11:27:34 PM
sigh, tired of playing these fucking fools, annoying as shit, anyone up for a REALISTIC game??
7/23/2007 11:38:08 PM
when you play online do you have to use base rosters? or can i use a navy team that has a few seasons of recruiting under its belt?
7/24/2007 8:53:59 AM
I have experienced three glitches while playing NCAA 08.First, the CPU quarterback decided to throw a pass, but the pass went floating backwards and out of bounds.Second, I've been saving highlights for my games after it's over for the shrine, and when I try to save a video highlight, the only play that it'll show is the last play at the end of the game. Plus, the game won't recognize the photos and video files associated with the shrine sometimes. Maybe there will be an update to fix this.Third, I couldn't hike the ball in the second half because my center was glitched out of the game. Depth chart subs and timeouts didn't work. They couldn't hike the ball either, so the only way to finish the game was to super sim.
7/24/2007 9:03:01 AM
i had a glitch where my placeholder on a PAT just ran in circles behind the line...had to call a timeout to reset the formation
7/24/2007 10:11:45 AM
havent had any of those... but I did have a fucking 10 year old piece of shit running around with fucking Colt Brennan like he was Vick, annoying as shit
7/24/2007 10:15:20 AM
sometimes the audio gets really delayed...i was on my 3rd down play and they were explaining what had happened on 1st down
7/24/2007 10:24:16 AM
^That happens to me too. God forbid you want to get to the next play.
7/24/2007 11:05:07 AM
^^To be fair, they often do that on TV as well.
7/24/2007 11:07:06 AM
anybody know how to do the Double Pass play (i think its called)? in the Boise State playbook...looks like you can do a little screen/flat pass to the running back and they should be able to pass it to a receiver but i dunno what buttons to hit and i dont have the manual
7/24/2007 11:13:26 AM
my guess is the pitch button...it's L2 on the PS3
7/24/2007 11:31:03 AM
i dont think thats it...dunno though...its like you should have the option of either running with the halfback once he catches the pass or maybe pulling up the receivers with another button and having the option to pass...not sure thoughsome of the trick plays are cool...Boise State playbook Hail Mary set has the "Circus" play which is a hook and ladder...also their Ace set 3 WR Bunch (i think) has a play called either "Statue" or "Liberty" (cant remember which) which is of course the Statue of Liberty play...its not all that though...just a draw play]
7/24/2007 11:33:02 AM
I play dynasty on AA, and the interceptions are crazy. I've played 5 games in the season and average about 6 INTs a game, and the computer averages about 5 per game. Especially the linebackers, as mentioned before.Anyone else turn down the INT slider way down? How far do you go?Also, what quarter length do you guys use for realistic stats and scores? I use 6-8 minutes, but haven't settled on one yet.
7/24/2007 11:57:00 AM
use the heisman sliders guitarguy posted, the dude that made those are one's ive been usuing since ncaa/madden 02 and his are always on pointi usually play 5 minute quarters with those sliders and I avg like 30 points a game, give or take a blowout or a defensive matchup[Edited on July 24, 2007 at 12:40 PM. Reason : set INTs to 0 for both hum/cpu]
7/24/2007 12:39:46 PM
^they are updated once again, i think theyre even better...version 5.0 now (they toned down int's and things alot more now)...SN's Heisman Sliders v5.0Level: HeismanLength: 8 Minutes/QuarterInjuries: ONFatigue: ONPenalties: All maxed, except for the following:Clipping at 25%False Start at 65%Offside at 65%Holding at 85%OFFENSE: (HUM/CPU)QB Accuracy: 100/55Pass Blocking: 100/55WR Catching: 90/0RB Ability: 55/50Run Blocking: 80/85DEFENSE: (HUM/CPU)Awareness: 100/0Knockdowns: 100/30Interceptions: 0/0Break Block: 55/0Tackling: 100/50SPECIAL TEAMS (HUM/CPU)FG Power: 30/0 (The farthest I've kicked without wind was with Serna (97 Kick Power for 58 yards in practice mode)FG Accuracy: 5/25Punt Power: 45/45Punt Accuracy: 50/85Kickoff Power: 40/40AUTO SUBS SLIDERS (The longer the quarter is, auto subs will work more effectively)Position - Sub Out/Sub InOFFENSEQB - 65/85HB - 90/100FB & TE - 85/95WR - 95/100OL - 60/80DEFENSEDE - 90/100DT - 90/100LB - 90/100CB - 85/100S - 85/100
7/24/2007 12:46:06 PM
I'm afraid I'd get the shit kicked out of me on Heisman, but I'll give those sliders a try I guess.
7/24/2007 1:43:54 PM
I suck at FGs... shit always goes left... is there something I am missing? dont you just push back on the analog stick, the when the moving bar nears the top push forward?
7/24/2007 2:32:23 PM
i haven't played on heisman so i dont' know if it's more sensitive, but if you don't press directly foward it can veer off course
7/24/2007 2:34:18 PM
that's all it isit's super sensitivejust focus on straight back and straight forward
7/24/2007 6:35:54 PM
ahhh, I didnt realize that the straight up part was important... thought it was just the timing... that could explain things
7/24/2007 8:11:53 PM
Can you not play 2 players on the same team in dynasty mode??
7/24/2007 8:31:41 PM
This game is hard as balls... of course I"m using the Heisman sliders so I might be over doing it... this is the first next-gen football game I've played.UCF blew me out by 17 in the first game...
7/24/2007 8:57:20 PM
is it just me or does the wolf for state sound almost haunting when you score?
7/24/2007 9:26:57 PM
7/24/2007 9:58:50 PM
not on heisman they arenthell you can use those on all american and get good ass games
7/24/2007 10:05:30 PM
i used those sliders on heisman and played my first game against UCF 52-37(was gonna start a dynasty with random team Indiana, but gave that up) win for me, defense is a bit tougher than previous years, and the game got close in the end, but i pretty much had it in control after the 1st quarter...overall though im liking it, im hoping much better talent will make fun games...unfortunately i thnk once i get used to the game its gonna get pretty easy with bigger teams and ill haev to go back like the previous games and build up a cupcake
7/24/2007 10:46:38 PM
well i just threw up 62 points on heisman against bc, i think im gonna have to lower the minutes down 1 or 2 else my offense stats are going to be ultra unrealistic
7/25/2007 12:26:21 AM
I am going to use SMU with these sliders... shitty program, but the 3rd, 4th level talent is Texas is better than most states.... think I will do 5-6 minute quarters though
7/25/2007 12:37:14 AM
yea, im lowering it to 6 minutes...8 minutes was way too much time for me to pile up offensive stats...still using the same heisman sliders
7/25/2007 12:57:24 AM
i use 5 mins. and i usually skip through the replays and stuff, snap the ball faster, etc but 6 might be good for dynasty games
7/25/2007 7:43:54 AM
Have they worked out the quarterback rating bug in this version? In all previous NCAA Football games I've ended seasons with a rating in the high 200s or low 300s, meanwhile some guy in the 160 range continues to hold the record.I've also seen a bug every year where it looks like a bugged draw play. The quarterback just takes the snap, runs back 10 yards, and just stands there facing backfield until someone tackles him. My best guess was that it was a draw play where the CPU thinks they handed off but didn't.
7/25/2007 12:14:58 PM
i've definitely had some toss plays to my HB in campus legend mode where the dumbass QB nonchalantly tosses it off the fullback's ass for a fumble
7/25/2007 1:22:12 PM
motherfucker said "nonchalantly"
7/25/2007 1:23:29 PM
finally had a great game last night...was playing clemson in a "defensive" struggle, i score to go up 24-17 with about 40 seconds left in the game...clemson gets the ball drives up a bit and eventually scores on a semi-hail mary....go to overtime where they kick a fg. i get my chance and run andre brown 3 straight plays till he gets into the endzone ftwim hoping games can stay like this, its more fun than blowing teams out like in past years of this game
7/25/2007 1:49:08 PM
my best game so far came as Navy (me) vs. Pitt (CPU). It was back and forth all game long, but the crux of the win was me blocking a PAT when they had just scored a TD to go up on me 31-25 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. I converted a fourth and 10 on the next series and scored to tie it. Hit the PAT to go up 32-31 with about 1:04 left. I thought it was too much time (I ended up scoring on a 44-yd pitch to a SB out of the TO), but on Pitt's first play from scrimmage, my LOLB playing in a short drop zone picked off the pass and ran it back 32 yds for what I thought was a game sealing TD with about 50 seconds left. But they busted a good return back to the 44, hit some under slants against a man 2 cover defense scheme and had a shot at the endzone...where I got a user pick with the FS as time expired. Top of my instant classics list right now.

Does everyone else just roll out their QB and hit a reciever on a corner route when they really need yards? I have a hard time getting completions with my QB in the pocket. And thus, I usually recruit and start more mobile QB's. Does everyone suffer from this, or can you actually play just as well using a pure pocket passing game.
7/25/2007 2:19:13 PM
i've had plenty of success from the pocket assuming i ran a good play to exploit the defense
7/25/2007 2:25:38 PM
well im having to deal with a non mobile qb at state, and im doing fine with him
7/25/2007 2:36:59 PM
^^^ I suck ass at passing period, I pretty much have to play old school Bama style and only pass when I have to or an occasional play action. I usually only pass about 5-10 times a game
7/25/2007 2:44:48 PM
ugh...even with interceptions slider and awareness slider set to 0 these linebackers are doing backflips and catching passes they are nowhere near with their feet...
7/25/2007 3:22:02 PM
i just bought my 360 last night, and got this game. played a couple of games on varsity (hey - it was my first time using xbox controls)i thought the passing game was easier in 08 than it was in 06, the last year i bought NCAA. But I did get a lot of ints from the tarholes' QB, and I threw at least one as well. And of course it was an LB that picked me as I tried to hit a WR on the deep slant-in route. But as for the running game, I'm having trouble getting around to the outside. it's easier to just call up-the-gut plays like dives and slams. The toss hasn't worked at all for me yet, and even the counter is getting clamped down at the line of scrimmage. however, hitting my TB in the flat has been very successful so far.
7/25/2007 3:42:50 PM
ive had the most success running with going up the middle then bouncing to the outside, thats where most of my big gains come fromim doing great at passing, its just the linebackers for whatever reason are too good at leaping and catching...somewhat annoying
7/25/2007 3:51:39 PM
Do the PS3 and/or 360 manuals tell how to shift the o-line blocking scheme? I have the PS2 version, and I've seen the graphic ad-type things during loading screens say you can shift the blocking, but the PS2 manual doesn't say a word about it.
