DNL, wear a ring and go work in a welding shop for a week, then get back to me. kthx
8/9/2008 10:10:15 PM
haha, no thank you
8/9/2008 10:10:55 PM
Yeah, that's why my boyfriend refuses to get one. All the guys he works with that wear them have to clean all the little weldy bits off of theirs with the grinder on a regular basis. Just a general PITA.Many similar situations as well. I wear gloves in the lab and would have to take the ring off before putting them on, with the constant on/off it'd get lost for sure so why bother? I'd never worn a ring before, went and tried some on to see what size I am and realized they are really uncomfortable.
8/9/2008 10:20:27 PM
I see what you are saying. I definitely could not do that; to each their own. I'm too traditional and a tattoed ring just sounds ridiculous to me.
8/9/2008 10:24:21 PM
Well hopefully you don't have large joints/slender finger bones or you will be cursing the discomfort of tradition.
8/9/2008 10:27:37 PM
I'm sure I'll manage.
8/9/2008 10:29:25 PM
some people are just like that. so I guess they really are conforming to tradition since they are having the ring symbol tattoed on. to each thier own. Also some people are not used to wearing rings. I bet if you started wearing rings you would start to get used to it. I remember I had to get used to wearing a watch, now I feel naked w/o it.

does anyone know where you can buy a tiffany 'like' lucida engagement ring for a loose diamond?
8/12/2008 9:20:49 AM
most places have them, and the biggest supplier of mountings and findings, Stuller, has them, but hit up QTpie since she is connected with a store.
8/12/2008 9:34:22 AM
I'll take 2.
8/13/2008 1:11:41 AM
I'm in the market and looking and from what I've seen, I would really like to buy something from say blue nile or somewhere like it. However from what I've been reading and from the people I've talked to in shops around here, the maintence on it is going to quickly add up, the rhodium plating, getting the little gold tips that hold the diamond in replaced.. and all that stuff might quickly make up the difference from buying online vs in a store. Does anyone have any insight into this?If it helps I'm looking at princess cut white gold..
8/30/2008 2:03:46 PM
Meh, my mother had a white gold ring with a small (5mm) round diamond for 20+ years and never had anything done to it. Diamond did fall out at about the 23 year mark, so I'm guessing the prongs will only need to be replaced every 15 or so. After 15 years she might want to switch from white to yellow gold anyway (what my mom plans to do, just has not taken the time to find a jeweler to do the work).
8/30/2008 7:40:42 PM
yea im sure the shops are pushing that angle in their favor
8/31/2008 12:17:11 PM
Yup, another thing worth mentioning is that the settings and rings come ready made from a catalog so they are cheap to replace. Just have the jeweler order one and file the prongs to fit the stone. Might have to re-size the ring if you want to change color, not a big deal either. The diamond is the expensive part so I'd say you are better off getting that as cheap as possible and worrying about the other stuff later. My mom tried to talk me into learning to set stones so I could order a setting and put her diamond in one, but I could see that ending badly so I didn't do that.

^gg stone setting is hard and takes a while to learn to be good enough to set diamondsok question for the ladies - just finished watching the movie What Happens in Vegas. In the movie she puts he big x-eng ring on her right hand. say I have a friend that has a 2.5 ct. that she wears on her right hand and looks like an engagement ring, but it's not. should she wear it or not? oh yeah the ring is the un engagement ring- she was engaged and wanted to know if she was engaged 'cause all her friends were and she just wanted a ring to show. well the ring he gave her was little and sucky. so she wanted to know if she was engaged for him or just wanted a ring. so she went and bought the 2.5ct. turns out she just wanted the ring, and kicked the guy to the curb. now she wears it to remind her to remember to always know what you really want.
9/1/2008 3:26:45 AM
sounds like a crappy movie
9/1/2008 3:52:45 AM
no that's my friends story- not the movie's. the movie is funny as hell.
9/1/2008 3:54:43 AM
oh lol. Well let's hope they never make a movie out of your friend's story.
9/1/2008 4:01:36 AM
A right hand ring can be whatever you want it to be.

9/1/2008 12:27:44 PM
went with this one:I really liked the other one but I knew this was the type of ring she really wanted. She's happy with it so I'm happy.
9/2/2008 2:21:33 PM
Post pics when it's on her hand!

^ The men's ring is actually my exact ring.I took it back to get resized 3 weeks ago. Bought a titanium one for $10 off ebay to wear in the meantime. Has me wishing I would've just spent $10 in the first place. This titanium ring is really nice.

9/7/2008 10:41:43 PM
I got the titanium and I used to wear a watch and a ring on my right finger but I didnt wear any jewelry before the wedding and now the ring bothers me almost a year later. I would love the tattoo
9/7/2008 10:51:56 PM
^^ if she's happy with it and if it's symbolic to her of their upcoming nuptials (the same way that your engagement ring is to you), then that's really what matters. It is a beautiful ring, btw.
9/8/2008 1:12:14 PM
Thanks. Yeah, she really didn't want a traditional diamond ring so it was a bit harder to shop for. Blue Nile had the hook up and they did a great job with everything. Terrific customer service too. The ring went down in price a couple weeks later and I contacted them about it and they refunded me the difference. Totally awesome.
9/8/2008 1:24:34 PM
did i mention i like this one?
9/8/2008 1:34:41 PM
^ that is honestly my favorite one i've seen ever.thats beautiful... i but its $texas though
9/8/2008 2:14:07 PM
^^I love that one too, you trying to hint at something? heheeI like the big rock with tiny ones around it
9/8/2008 2:36:51 PM
i love that ring too, although i prefer a solitaire, i like the idea of having an eternity band as the wedding band.
9/8/2008 3:20:34 PM
OK, so I have a ring that is somewhat of a family heirloom. However, it is in gold and my girl wants white gold. I will most likely have it reset, and know that any good jewelry store can do this for me. However, I was curious as to what the cost should be? I don't want to get ripped off.

I've been researching diamonds still.. I found this website called diamondonnet.com. the only problem is I cannot find but like 2 reviews for the site. they have good prices and I like what I see but I'm worried that a site with their selection and product, I would think I would have found more reviews. Has anyone heard of them?
9/9/2008 1:36:13 PM
This is my great-grandmother's ring. My great-grandfather bought it for her when they were living in Thailand. I don't know why, but ever since I was little I've loved this ring. Now my mom wears it Excuse the not so great photos. My mom is a shitty photographer
9/10/2008 9:28:21 PM
yeah, that ring is awesome!!!

I'm in the market for an engagement ring now myself...and I have an exact ring style in mind, but the only place I've seen it is Helzberg. Here's the link:http://www.helzberg.com/product/engagement+%26+wedding/helzberg+diamond+masterpiece/1ct+tw+diamond+engagement+ring%2C+gia+graded+1630024.do?sortby=ourPicksBlue Nile doesn't have anything that's REALLY close to this...and this one ring looks so good on my GF's hand. Anybody got any other good ideas as to who might? I've come to the conclusion that Helzberg's quality vs. price just ain't all that. And I'd really like to get as much ring for my money as I can. The ceiling's pretty much at 4 to 5 grand. All good input is welcome!
10/9/2008 7:07:08 PM
These won't work>?
10/9/2008 7:15:28 PM
close but no cigar. so angular, not as rounded or soft as I would like.Yeah, I looked at 'em and they've got great prices, especially on some of their stones.
10/9/2008 7:18:27 PM
Oh well.
10/9/2008 7:24:35 PM
Wow, zxappeal gettin married again after what you went through?
10/9/2008 8:20:36 PM
Yeah, well...not to be hokey, but there's a Garth Brooks song that kinda says it all...
10/9/2008 8:32:58 PM
You know, I have never seen that video? (Also, I thought it was going to be Shameless that you posted )
