i hope he knocks it off
12/24/2007 11:07:00 PM
Wait what did priv do?
12/24/2007 11:07:28 PM
I can't believe Phil would drop an F-bomb on anybody when he clearly protested a call by saying "That's bullcrap"
12/24/2007 11:08:28 PM
12/24/2007 11:08:44 PM
man...he needs to step up his game if he's gonna become a braggart
12/24/2007 11:10:44 PM
it's not really thaaaat out of character if you've watched him play the past couple years. earlier this season there were several times where he would complete a big play amidst the boos from the SD fans and follow it with talking smack to the fans. he's clearly become much more of a talker since he's made the move out west. i personally think it has served him well.although i admit an f-bomb would be out of character. but i didn't see him say that. (and dont think he did)[Edited on December 24, 2007 at 11:12 PM. Reason : ]

certainly doesn't warrant a lot of attention but i'm sure sean salisbury will be all over it
12/24/2007 11:12:01 PM
heaven forbid a football player talk trashits also pretty well known that phil talks trash on the field on a regular basis
12/24/2007 11:13:16 PM
"ya big baby!"
12/24/2007 11:14:05 PM
cutler must have done/said something to annoy the team because rivers wasn't the only charger talking
12/24/2007 11:14:58 PM
yeah, every player walks out onto the field with two other guys to pick one player out and tell him to get off the field, happens every play
12/24/2007 11:15:03 PM
he was just telling cutler that he was playing his fanny off[Edited on December 24, 2007 at 11:16 PM. Reason : misunderstanding ]
12/24/2007 11:15:57 PM
yeah didn't kornheiser say something in the first half about Champ Bailey saying he used to like Phil, but not anymore cuz he talks a lot of shit, and doesn't feel Phil has done enough to earn that right yet
12/24/2007 11:17:10 PM
^ yeahPhil is thug now hahahahahaha
12/24/2007 11:18:34 PM
san diego should have made him more chill
12/24/2007 11:20:36 PM
i think it is the chargers organization as a whole talking trash .. there is always drama with the chargers. LT is in the middle of that shit too but he gets a free pass from the media almost always.
12/24/2007 11:25:57 PM
L.T. isnt Gomer PyleI expect p.riv to be sportin some cawnrows[Edited on December 24, 2007 at 11:29 PM. Reason : d]
12/24/2007 11:29:34 PM
i thought i remember someone on here playing with rivers in a pickup bball game once and he talked smack there...i dont see this being a big surprise. i hate smack talking, but even i have done it a few times in the heat of a moment situation, or against someone i really hate.
12/24/2007 11:31:38 PM
well, I could see heat of the moment a bit more, but Rivers wasnt even playing... he had been on the bench a while, and the Chargers didnt even have the ball and he came out really far on the field and fucking went off on Cutler... was really odd
12/24/2007 11:34:03 PM
maybe he really hates cutler
12/24/2007 11:34:32 PM
for what it's worth, Cutler does seem like a little bitch sometimes on the field. i'm sure he is tired of getting sacked but maybe he should channel some of that energy into not fumbling so much
12/24/2007 11:40:28 PM
cutler had to of said something that pissed off more than one of the chargers. every player talks trash like that but for rivers to go to that extreme. i could see something where cutler said about doing better than rivers if he was the qb for the chargers and that message somehow got to the chargers.
12/25/2007 12:15:06 AM
12/25/2007 12:23:23 AM
His trash talking could take a serious shot at his reputation and make him a marked man in the league. This is bad publicity
12/25/2007 12:28:40 AM
ALL athletes talk shit...This is not new. Get over it. It's just the first time you've seen it from Phil.
12/25/2007 12:32:11 AM
12/25/2007 12:37:01 AM
football players talk shit. but the good ones are who get slammed for it because the camera's follow their every move.
12/25/2007 1:06:25 AM
The problem is that your common, no-talent pussy can't handle the idea that elite athletes are almost always hyper-competitive. They want to look out on the field and see mild-mannered losers like themselves playing a game. The reality is that all great athletes are extremely arrogant and cocky and want to show everyone how much better they are. That's what makes them elite.
12/25/2007 1:18:30 AM
hahahah, people not believing philip talks shit??? Holy hell, philip is one of the biggest shit talkers i've ever seen on a football field. Wheres that picture of him and merriman in each others face in his last game here? What about the Tangerine bowl his senior year after a commercial break when he was goin around askin his receivers, "Hey, who wants one, who hasn't gotten one yet?"(in reference to the TD's he was rackin up)
12/25/2007 1:38:58 AM
^^ what a stupid post. NFL players are competitive? no way!?! thanks guru! did you fuckers even watch the game? do you watch any games? that wasnt normal "every play" trash talking, not even close[Edited on December 25, 2007 at 1:56 AM. Reason : s]
12/25/2007 1:52:17 AM
so players never talk shit to each other from across the field? yeah right. the camera just happened to catch rivers.
12/25/2007 2:02:51 AM
QBs dont walk out onto the field when they have been sitting on the bench for a while to talk shit to the opposing QB. I vote that does not happen very often. As I said, I could see a QB talking shit to a DE who just hit him, or even an opposing CB maybe... but Rivers was on the sideline since the 3rd quarter, wasnt in the heat of the moment, in the middle of a play etc, Denvers drive ended, Cutler was walking off the field, Rivers and two others came out almost to the middle of the field yelling and pointing at Cutler telling him to get off the field, calling him a baby, and rivers said fuck you... yeah, that happens every fucking game [Edited on December 25, 2007 at 2:11 AM. 12/25/2007 2:08:47 AM
Yea sorry, but the smack talking that was going on tonight is not your typical sunday afternoon in the heat of the moment shit talk. These guys are professionals and it's their job. I really think it's very seldom that something gets personal...and tonight there was something personal. Yes shit talking happens every game, but at the end of the game it's over, they shake hands and that's that. Tonight, Bailey walked right off the field, even told reporters that he no longer respected P. Riv or some crap like that. It was personal and beyond the typical shit talking that goes on most days.
12/25/2007 3:17:09 AM
we don't know what actually happened. i know for a fact phil talks a lot of shit, but i'm almost positive that it didn't just come out of the blue. the next 2 plays different players hit cutler after the play was over. was that just a coincidence? if you want to turn your back on phil because of some bad media then go ahead, but nobody really knows what happened. cutler had to have done something to provoke that much of a reaction

Chargers vs Broncos is a rivalry kind of like NC State vs Maryland a few years ago. Of course the natural rival is Oakland, but they have been terrible for years now. The Broncos are a cut-blocking team which has gone after several Chargers over the past few years. Igor Olshansky got thrown out of a game last year for punching their center Nalen, but it was Nalen who was fined by the NFL for his chop block. It's a heated rivalry despite San Diego's recent dominance. I don't see why Jaybee is so shocked to see Rivers joining in the shit-talking. Cutlet is a baby who was jawing and throwing tantrums the whole game. PRiv is just tellin it like it is.[Edited on December 25, 2007 at 10:45 AM. Reason : 2]
