so I've got 7 days left at Home Depot and still looking for a job. Huge budget cuts led to reorgs and I was not interested in applying for the position my director created for me (thou it would have been a title and pay bump). the VP of Advertising keeps asking me to come work for him, but my bitterness towards this place is going to carry me elsewhere.Looking forward to taking most of Feb off (have enough money saved to get me to the summer if necessary) any cool happenings around Atlanta? I've got the time to get out and see them

what do you do goalielax - i'm sure you've posted but i forgot - maybe someone that posts here regularly could help
1/24/2008 4:44:00 PM
i am (for the next week) the head of the marketing effectiveness team at home depot (senior manager level)....analyzing marketing/advertising campaigns and promotion results...I advise the CMO and VP of Advertising on what products sell well when, how to spend the marketing budget, etc...kind of straddles marketing, finance, and statisticsi'm currently applying for positions at Intercontinental Hotels, AT&T Wireless, Coke, etc

it's just really sad, that's all
1/24/2008 11:24:27 PM
can we ban aficianado from this thread? can't help with marketing goalie - good luck tho
1/24/2008 11:34:01 PM
so i used to listen to 99x in the mornings during the commute - i was a bit upset to find out they are gone earlier this week but the replacement show The Bert Show from Q100 is actually really good - i have a feeling though that the mornings are the only thing that the station will be good for and i'll wish 99x was still around for general music listening
1/25/2008 9:25:08 AM
yeah - going to miss 99xbut I mostly listen to sports talk radio now if and when I have it on
1/25/2008 10:18:19 AM
well they re-org'd my compensation, so feel free to give me a loan goalie. i'm broke as a joke now
1/26/2008 5:25:30 PM
yeah they just reorged my dept for the better - i'm pretty happy about it - i thought the only people that got screwed were these people http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j6jYt1-Lad9IgulSckdU2O489zeQD8UBM9L00 and i didn't think you were in that group
1/26/2008 5:44:33 PM
Nope - not affected by that. But they changed our commission plan to where we only get 80% of base salary and earn the rest back and commission. It's good in the long run, but not when they don't announce it until you see $texas less in your check. We don't see our first commission check until the end of april, so until then - it's gonna hurt
1/26/2008 5:48:07 PM
Ouch - that does suckI'm looking at the Market Intelligence division at IBM for my next job. I talked to them a lot coming out of grad school, but ended up at the Depot. Have a friend who works there now and is putting my stuff out to the people hiring, so we'll see.
1/26/2008 10:42:48 PM
how do yall like the atl? i may be moving there sometime and i don't know too much about it.
1/26/2008 10:48:46 PM
reverse commute, live ITP and you will love it
1/27/2008 2:24:16 PM
hell even if you work downtown still live inside the perimetertrying to get past 285 going out on any highway is a nightmare, especially gwinnett
1/27/2008 3:43:39 PM
yeah, i reverse commute to vinings from inman park...drive to work takes maybe 20 mins tops...drive home usually takes 30-45 due to the shitstorm that is the downtown connector (where 75 and 85 are together)...you can usually bet on 85 south being backed up from 400 down to 20 at nightthe worst places for driving that I've exerienced are:400 going with traffic (it goes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes in about 5 miles and is very heavily traveled...we're talking hour plus commutes just to get 10 miles)75 going with traffic (not uncommon to see 75 solid from 285 in in the morning and out to 575 at night)top end of the perimeter (285/85 intersection - used to commute there when I was doing an internship at the perimeter mall area...not uncommon to have an hour commute for 15 miles)just check out http://www.georgia-navigator.com/maps/atlanta sometime during rush hour and see how bad it can be[Edited on January 27, 2008 at 4:04 PM. I live and work in the city (my condo in midtown is less than 2 miles from my office downtown). Most of the time I just walk, and occasionally drive. The drive down PTree isn't bad at all.Sometimes I have to head out towards Marietta to do some lab testing, and the reverse commute is awesome. I love seeing 75 southbound jammed while I'm cruising along at 70 miles an hour northbound 400 is awful, especially once you get outside of 285. I go to Duluth a lot, but mainly in the afternoons, so I get stuck in that traffic. Where P'Tree Industrial and 141 split off there in Norcross is terrible.

1/31/2008 1:16:21 PM

1/31/2008 1:48:27 PM

1/31/2008 2:51:33 PM

I bet... but this might cheer you up... any of you fools Braves/baseball fans? They have a pretty sweet deal this year for season tickets in the 2 sections. Buy 2 season tickets, get 2 free.I am talking to my work to get them to buy in but if they dont (or maybe even if they do) I might be interested in splitting this with some of you... it would come out to about $3600 to $4300 total for 4 seats to every home game, which comes out to $11-$13 a game... anyone interested?
2/11/2008 3:33:41 PM
the 14th st bridge sucks and needs a lot of work done on it. i really like what they did w/ the 17th and especially 5th st bridges
2/11/2008 3:38:06 PM
why do they have the lights on the east side of the 17th street bridgeis that for the new ramp that they are building?

2/11/2008 9:23:50 PM
