I have family in Memphis and I lived there briefly. Besides Beale St (which is nothing special), the Peabody, and Elvis.... well Memphis is a DUMP

Like all real cities, there are good parts and bad parts. Personally, to me, Memphis was a lot more fun. It's got more of a big city type atmosphere if you like that. Knowing Calipari's personality I would think he is more of a bigger city type person..

Beale street is a rocking place to go, no pun intended.. I've only been there a few times, so I can't say much about the city. But the airport is a DUMP.

part of it stems from the very nice counter offer from memphis, another part is a supposed UofM booster saying that he's staying on the memphis message boards, and another part is just we've been fans of state long enough to know that life just doesnt work out well for us when it comes to sports

I personally think that he's coming here. No way we offered him less than $2.0 Million, since we had that money to give to Barnes I'm assuming we'd pull out all the stops to land Calipari

PROOF:
-Cal knows we offered Barnes that much money and would be insulted if we offered him $300,000 less.
-We already publicly lost our first choice for the job, if we lost our second choice too then that would be embarrassing, and few coaches would want to be someone's third option.
-Oblinger and Fowler flew in Murphy's jet to Memphis on a Sunday for a 2 hour meeting. You'd think that they would stay as long as it took to get a yes out of him if they made that sort of trip.
-Calipari came out of the meeting and said he was 'overwhelmed' with the amount of money we offered him. He was probably expecting 1.5-1.7 million, an offer of 2.0+ would be 'overwhelming' to someone with those expectations.
