i wonder what this guy is up to. . . if you guys are looking for entertainment, might as well get one of the best in b-ball.
4/3/2006 1:55:24 PM
best part is, he's already great friends with amato
4/3/2006 1:58:41 PM
the fan base will love him. i cant wait for the opening of two sub-par restaurants named "Clowny's". they eat that shit up
4/3/2006 2:03:24 PM
how much would it actually cost to buy out wright's contract from nova?
4/3/2006 2:06:46 PM
there is an article on espn about LSU's coach talking about possibly talking to other schools (he only gets pd like 750 g's per). I don't know much about him, enlighten me.is this a possibility?
4/3/2006 2:08:22 PM
actually, its about a raise. he is quoted in the article saying "I'm not pursuing other jobs, but I'm in no hurry to decide anything right now," .
4/3/2006 2:11:27 PM
i dont know why anybody from a football school, a school that won THE national championship in football just 3 years ago, who just led his team to a Final Four, would even consider leaving
4/3/2006 2:12:27 PM
thats what i thought, but it seems like he is leaving the door open for all possibilities, and the timing is sort of odd.maybe i'm just over analyzing.
4/3/2006 2:15:20 PM
Here's an idea. How about people with no clue stop speculating on any name that pops into their head."Hey, what about Phil Jackson? He's probably tired of the pros and Kobe's attitude. What do y'all think? I heard he has met with a real estate agent in Raleigh."
4/3/2006 2:17:25 PM
"What about John Wooden? He looks amazing for a 96 year old and he knows all about our glory days of the 70's. He could really get the fan base behind him"
4/3/2006 2:20:15 PM
^well i dont think there's been any "official" rumors at all yet, so what is the harm in talking about guys we'd like to see come? i know none of the good coaches mentioned would come here, but it's still nice to dream until we hire a no-name mid-major guy or assistant.
4/3/2006 2:20:17 PM
at least i have an article from which to draw speculation[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 2:23 PM. Reason : from]

Would the league even allow that?
4/3/2006 3:31:23 PM
I really hope we don't get frank haith...i mean he had a pretty good team at miami sorta like a villanova team and he didnt do much at all.
4/3/2006 3:42:55 PM
ok i dont know if his name has been brought up or not because sorry i did not read the first 11 pages but what about Jerry Wainright. He did a great job at UNCW and made them a pretty good program. He has won everywhere he has been although he did not have a great year this year. But come on he was coaching at Depaul and did beat Wake Forset and Syracuse at the end of the year. I think he would be a good choice.
4/3/2006 3:43:04 PM
haith can recruit like a motherfuckerbut, he hasn't really proven anything as a head coach[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 3:43 PM. Reason : .]
4/3/2006 3:43:39 PM
he can recruit?he got a volleyball player that nobody else wanted for their basketball team and turned him into an All-ACC playerif anything he's good at player development....not recruiting
4/3/2006 3:48:58 PM
yeah i definately don't see him as a good recruiter either...we are talking about miami basketball not football.
4/3/2006 3:58:25 PM
rick barnes would be placed into an IDEAL situation...1) Everyone would love him already2) we can fork up ASSLOADS of cash to get him (no Herb buyout)3) home state4) ACC5) compete at the highest level with the best (Duke, UNC)6) Bojangles on western after victories
4/3/2006 3:59:08 PM
4/3/2006 4:01:02 PM
montgomery is my first choice, followed by gillispie and beilein.
4/3/2006 4:02:21 PM
i really wish we could snag calipari somehow
4/3/2006 4:03:04 PM
and then get to the final four, only to lose our banner a few years later
4/3/2006 4:03:53 PM
I'm wanting rick barnes...it's just the ideal position for him. I know he wants to come back to his roots.
4/3/2006 4:04:12 PM
^ amen.lets have a 30,000 person demonstration in front of the Bell Tower.HIRE RICK BARNESHIRE RICK BARNESHIRE RICK BARNESHIRE RICK BARNES
4/3/2006 4:08:41 PM
lets get the guy at Arizona State
4/3/2006 4:09:30 PM
would anyone want john brady?he wants to stay at LSU but is not happy w/ his current pay/contract and maybe would go somewhere else if a deal is not worked outhttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2395119
4/3/2006 4:10:21 PM
LSU will give him a new deal. No reason to let him use us like that.

It says, "According to sources close to the situation, N.C. State will make a mammoth push to try and convince Hickory, N.C., native Rick Barnes to leave Austin and return to his home state. He's the guy they want, but not necessarily the guy they can get. i don't know whether to be hopeful or not
4/3/2006 4:13:30 PM

Is Rick Barnes really *that* good?He wasn't all that at Clemson, and without 3-4 future NBA picks on his Texas squad (and having a huge monopoly of recruiting within Texas since he gets all the 4 & 5 star players from Texas), would he be that impressive? Can't say I like Barnes all that much...
4/3/2006 4:20:17 PM
On Montgomery, from NBA.com
4/3/2006 4:20:25 PM
keep in mind that even the great coaches have difficulty making it in the tournament. Roy williams went 8 years at Kansas without making past the sweet 16 except for one of those years when he went to the elite 8. And in 3 of those years he only made it to the second round
4/3/2006 4:25:12 PM
Barnes has taken 3 programs to top 10 rankings. His first year at Clemson they were labeled preseason as "The worst team in ACC history". They didn't have a single player on the roster taller than 6'6". He took them to the NIT, and I believe the NCAA's by his 3rd year. He's done an exceptional job wherever he's gone. Not sure he's my #1... he's the logical fit, but I don't think he's that "elite" coach like a Calipari would be. However, if we were looking to Calipari, he may leave in 2-3 years. Barnes would be a great hire. His programs are always good
4/3/2006 4:26:27 PM
^^^because he fucking won at STANFORDHe doesnt have a great tournament resume, but it was said earlier....if you can win at stanford where your recruits actually have to be accepted to the school, you can probably win anywhere(in college).[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ]

I'm pretty sure Stanford athletes have to be accepted at Stanford to play sports... I don't think they allow academic exceptions. The only reason they win the directors cup every year is becuase they have about 30 more bullshit sports teams that no other school in the nation has[Edited on April 3, 2006 at 4:32 PM. Reason : ]
