Before the bashing starts, this was just me trying a few things on photoshop, I REALLY REALLY REALLY ENJOY THIS THREAD, you guys have some excellent work out there, please keep going with the picsIs there any specific website or books that you guys used to gain that kind of photography/photoshop knowledge? Can that picture be made any better?[Edited on May 16, 2006 at 8:20 PM. Reason : i realize its really fuzzy, this was just one of my first attempts at messing around with this stuff]

^^nice shots! how long was the exposure on the fountain? also, did u use a telephoto lens for the building pic? i dig 'em.^what kinda camera did u use? are u going for the black/white/grayscale look? [Edited on May 16, 2006 at 8:48 PM. Reason : thanks for the input ZiP!]
5/16/2006 8:21:48 PM
thanks man actually the building was a crop of a shot I took with a rather wide angle, 18mm.the fountain was .25 seconds exposure I believe, unfortunately it was so bright anything above that felt too washed out. i'd be curious to know how i could have exposed that shot better, and still had the water looking fluid/glowing rather than frozen/stationary.i like these shots a touch more:security at Rockefeller Center:some people fishing in the East River:-ZiP!-

Oh shit is that J.J. from Good Times?
5/16/2006 10:10:19 PM
That photo kind of jumped up on me, and the moment was over as soon as it began. I tried to get these kids dancing at a beach music concert I was covering, but I had a couple of settings off on my camera. It could've been nice.

^nice man, the girl's hair looks greatby the way, which prime lens should i purchase? i don't own any, but ideally i'd like to start with something that's under $180, if that's at all doable... any suggestions?thanks-ZiP!-

^nice man --i like how orange the hitachi truck is, and the exterior shot of harrelson is really flattering of the building's shape, nice shot!i picked up a used polarizing lens today for $12 from B&H during lunch, its so hectic down there on 34th street, i didn't get a chance to really shoot anything yet to test the difference.but why does my office look and feel like the depths of hell?-ZiP!-
5/18/2006 12:59:28 AM
^ Thanks man...the orange was what attracted me to those shots as well, escp. contrasting to the blue truck beside it. It also symbolizes the never-ending construction happening here And yeah, as much as we all hate Harrelson, pictures of it really make it look appealing!
5/18/2006 1:05:09 AM
yah man, the orange + blue look great together, for sure, good stuffa car on the street, the other weekend:-ZiP!-

I'm thinking about getting a Nikon for under $700 as soon as I can afford one. I'm tired of dull colors.

5/18/2006 8:20:43 PM
tripod?aperture?shot time?
5/18/2006 8:21:46 PM
really nice pics Ronny, how long was the exposure on that one where she was smoking? or is that just a normal shot?
5/18/2006 8:21:50 PM
Handheld, I believe 1/60th of a second, iso 1600. It was at my buddy's kitchen table. The light just happened to be pretty damn good where we were sitting.
5/18/2006 8:24:30 PM
ronny: nice, i feel like i get a little noise at 1600, but that shot looks solidwoodfoot: why don't ya shoot anymorealso:i just picked up a 50mm prime and a neutral density filter, but i can't seem to get any time off of work to actually shoot anything... at least the weekend is quickly approaching! -ZiP!-

Mine is 8.2 megapixel. I shoot wide open most of the time, which is why there is usually decent bokeh (which I am assuming is what you're referring to when you say yours are more "matter of fact")
