took the gixxer out and i was at a light. the bike wouldnt down shift to 1st, i thought it was in 1st gear but i think it turned out it was in 3rd or second. well i stalled out at the light, started the bike back up and stalled out again, then revved up to 5 and went ahead and got going finally, probably was a funny scene to watch, need to roll it next time to get it into gear :owned:well i was trying to catch up to my friend after that and i got up to about 65 in a 45 and then i saw blue lights behind me, lol my friend and i pulled over.. i was in a 45 zone.i was chill with the cop and he just asked for our licenses, then he said when are u going to get ur certified license. and i said i started riding 2 weeks ago. he was chill as hell as well.he didnt ask for registration or insurance so i knew i wasnt getting a ticket, another cop pulled up and they talked for about 10 minutes. the first cop was pissed his radio didnt work and cursed about it lol.well he came back and gave me his card and talked about how he runs a safety course and it's some kind of none state run school. he said i would be intermediate level compared to beginner because he followed us for a little while.lol so basically he pulled us over to advertise for the classesthen when he let us go without repormanding us for anything he said "bikes are great, check out the website and RIDE THE LIVING HELL OUT OF THOSE BIKES "and as easy as that we were on our way lol.btw that was the fastest i went all night, and it was stupid , im just happy the cop was cool as hellmy friend that was with me said he got pulled over 2x's already speeding and the cops just told him to slow down and let him off with warningsdoes anyone else have chill cop stories like this, it seems like they treat bikers a lot different than cars, or at least from my experience they do.

I was coming home from Smithfield one night, and got pulled by a sheriff's deputy right after I got on I40. He asked me how fast I was going. I told him I had no idea and pointed to my burned out speedo light. He said that maybe how I was passing folks should have been a hint. Told me to be careful and handed back my license.Maybe he felt bad for me 'cause I was sporting a ragged-out piece of shit Radian. Not nearly as cool as your story by a landslide...They trat experienced and decent riders differently. i love motorcycles
4/29/2005 7:12:00 PM
yeah man.. I wish I could have gotten one much sooner. I would have saved so much money trying to make my car as fast as a stock R6 and I'd still have some semblance of reliability. Oh well, I don't think I could get ever get my gf on a bike with me, but for some reason she'll still ride in my car, although she's very apprehensive about it blowing up.

i might have to buy a new bike soon 1. the oil light was coming on, so i checked it - not a drop to be found on the dipstick upon re-entry...so i put a whole quart in, when i stuck the dipstick back in, it was way too full, so who knows what thats doing2. i go to leave where i had been hanging out, crank it up and roll out, i wanted to go look at some used cars, so i ride out, about 5 miles - the bitch starts whirring and whining, and cuts off on me - i assume its from the oil, so i give it a minute, and crank it back up - i only had about 2 or 3 miles home, so i figured it'd be finehalf the way home its just arrrrguing with me, when i finally get home, i realize what i've done...i left the choke all the way up...and because it was dark out, i didn't notice...

My battery doesn't seem to want to hold a charge for more than a few days. So I'll need to a new one soon instead of taking the panels and seat off just to jump it or charge it. The battery in it is some pos made in china one. I want a good high quality one that will work and possibily have a good warrenty on it. I have a 94 honda cbr600f2. What would be a good choice?

OK...time to pick the brains of the experts.I am a motorcycle rider from way back.My last one was a Honda Nighthawk 750 which I got rid of in 1997 when I bought a 65 Mustang Convertible.Loved the bike but I had pain in the small of my back when riding for an hour or longer.I am old now. I do not heal well anymore so I am not looking to cut up on a bike. I will admit it though. I got the fever again. I have it pretty bad in fact. I want another motorcycle. Now this is where I need some advice.I am not a beginner...just rusty. Therefore I have been bypassing 250cc engines (damn there is a lot of them today)I have been looking at 500cc engines at the smallest. Not wanting to race but still want to be able to run a little if I feel the need. I am also bypassing the pre 90's motorcycles. Not into the retro look. And I am not looking to spend a ton. In fact...within 1000-2000 would be awesome. My other needs are this...Going to be using to go back and forth to work...about 20 miles each way....on interstate. And of course for general riding.Also....I am not opposed to fixing one up...Now..with all of that...what types of motorcycles do you reccomend and where is the best place to look for what I want?I have seen the Buell's and I like the look. They seem to be pretty reasonable also. What are your opinions on them for a rider like myself? And how do they feel on the back with longer rides? And lastly.....the prices in general seem high compared to what I remember. Now I realize they go for a little more in the spring but some of these prices are ridiculous. Are the gas prices driving this or what? And will it make that much difference to wait until the fall for what I want?[Edited on May 9, 2005 at 12:21 AM. 5/9/2005 12:51:32 AM
get a harley old man hahaactually i've been looking for a long time for something like your describing but you'll be pretty hard pressed to find one much under 2k. if you wanted something a little different and a little more ergonomicly friendly to long trips how about one of those "dualsport" or whatever you call them bmws?
5/9/2005 12:57:08 AM
LOL....I thought about a Harley. But they are a little expensive for now.Besides...with a Harley, every 3000 miles, you have to tighten every nut on it...including the drivers. And you may be right about the 500cc.A dual sport BMW?I will look into it. But I do need to stay in that price range. My wife will not OK me spending much more and a new motorcycle is no fun castrated.

If any of you guys/gals are in the market for a Harley, I have one for sale. http://homepage.mac.com/rambleon/harleyforsale/It's a 2003 silver and black Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200C, one of the special issue 100th Anniversary motorcycles and it has a number of 100th Anniversary custom details (see the pictures at the site above). The motorcycle was purchased new in August 2003, and has <2,400 miles on it. The motorcycle has been kept in a garage when parked and has all current inspection and maintenance services, including the 2,500 mile service. In January, 2004, custom grips and brake/clutch handles were added, but that's the extent of the customizations.I'm not logged in enough to TWW to get TWW PM's - so if you are seriously interested, or know someone that might be, email me, preferably at the harleyforsale@mac.com address, but my campus address is in my TWW profile too.

Any one have recommendations on how to get a bike into the back of a truck. Someone's coming to buy my bike this weekend and I don't know how to get it in their truck. It's on a Sunday so I can't go to a bike shop and get them to do it either.
5/11/2005 5:52:23 PM
for my bike, we took a 2x4 and drove itu p onto th epickup, we had fasteners to hold the bike down though
5/11/2005 6:04:32 PM
I'd use a 1x8" instead of a 2x4, but that's just me..
