anyone got any 7.62x51/308 brass they want to sell?
3/2/2014 9:07:38 PM
Looking for a Ruger 10/22. Stainless preferred, but I'm not picky.Rough condition is fine as long as its not broke all to pieces. I'm looking to rebuild it likely.I know new at Wallyworld is like $250.thanks.
3/8/2014 7:07:35 PM
^I almost picked one up at Gander Mountain yesterday. Instead I am buying a used Marlin 60 off a guy in Cary. $299 for the Ruger (with a scope) or $125 for the Marlin. Worst part is going to be finding ammo without paying 3x what it costs.
3/9/2014 8:31:32 AM
keep an eye on the classifieds on http://www.rimfirecentral.com . receivers show up on there from time to time. they'll have to ship it to an FFL.
3/9/2014 9:36:50 AM
I want to find a decent little scope for this Marlin and a bipod and sling to put on it. Figure that will make it easier for my kids to learn how to shoot with it.
3/9/2014 10:47:44 AM
They'll be better shooters if they learn the iron sights first. With that said, the Simmons 22 Mag series of rimfire scopes is pretty good for the money and you can get them with 3/8" tip-off rings (what you need for that Marlin) for under $50. Take your pick between the 3-9x32 variable or the 4x32 fixed power. For a sling, get 1.25" swivels and a GI style web sling.I use a Harris bipod and everything sucks compared to them, but they're expensive. Rather than buy a cheap bipod, you'd be better off to just take the legs of some old jeans, sew them up and fill with sand to make your own shooting bags. Much more versatile for range use. Spend the money you save on ammo.
3/9/2014 11:30:26 AM
^Is there a way I could setup the scope so that it would sit high enough that they could still use the iron sights as well? Would be nice to have the option to do one or the other.
3/9/2014 11:48:07 AM
There are see-through scope mounts, but the problem is they make the scope sit so high that a proper cheek weld becomes unattainable, especially for a small kid.Leave off the scope and mount a set of Tech Sights. They operate on the human eye's natural tendency to seek the center of a circle.Google "liberty training rifle".
3/9/2014 12:05:47 PM
Might work better for them as they have a Daisy 499 which has the circle sights, so they would be used to the circular sight picture with a Tech Sight.

Since I saved a lot of money by getting the used Marlin 60, I have a bit left that was earmarked to getting a gun. I also wanted a Mossberg 500 as I really enjoy skeet shooting. My brother has one and I've borrowed it before to shoot with, but I just want one of my own. I found this one posted today. Does this sound like a good deal:http://www.carolinashootersclub.com/threads/162195-WTS-Mossberg-500A-12-Gauge
3/10/2014 11:12:11 AM
Not a bad price
3/10/2014 11:34:13 AM
^Think I'm going to pass. Doesn't have a bead sight on the front. Not a huge thing, but I'll wait until another comes up with it equipped already. Save me from having to spend the cash on that. Thanks though

I have a Glock 23 for sale. I believe it's a Gen 4, but I'll have to check. I've probably put 250 rounds through it and bought it new; wanting to get rid of it so I can reduce my handguns to just 45 and 9mm for reloading purposes. The gun comes with 100rds of ball ammo and ~40 rounds of self defense ammo. Gun also comes with the Glock carrying case and two magazines. Pictures available on request. I'm in the Raleigh area. Would like to get $500 for everything.

I've had decent success at gun shows, particularly at Metrolina/CLT and the Raleigh event, it helps if its a common brand/model as there are multiple vendors and sometimes they'll come down enough to make it worthwhile. How much do you guys barter/negotiate with pawn shops? Their prices always seem higher than online and the few I've gone into weren't budging at all.
8/29/2014 2:51:15 PM
pawn shops (and most brick and mortar gun shops, for that matter) don't make money selling guns to folks who shop around. part of it is that they just can't compete with the high volume sellers like buds. the other part is that many of them prey on folks who don't know much about guns or their values. sure, you can stumble across a sale or good price, find a guy who's willing to haggle on something that's been sitting around a while, or get a deal on something used, but it's rare.i have a buds preferred FFL in town with a very low fee. buds ships free. i almost always come out ahead buying online.[Edited on August 29, 2014 at 4:01 PM.
