^^That's called an outflow boundary.. it is the cool descending air rushing outward from the storms and it causes lift as it moves, almost like a mini cold front.

yep. it has to do with the air mass in place. it has occurred more recently due to the conditions.... i've seen it 2 or 3 days recently

From the looks of it, it appeared that we had a stationary front in place. Two days of thunderstorms moving to the northeast and today they are moving to the southwest!
