What about pre-ROM though? I'm still looking into the specifics of installing a ROM because I want the faster performance and better battery life, but in the immediate short term when I'm still running the regular OS/whatever I'm wondering what some recommended GHz?

haha just realized i put megahertz in the last post instead of gigahertz

Isn't the D2G already clocked at 1.2 anyway? And those TI Omap processors are pretty durable. I ran my OG Droid at 800MHz-1GHz for a while which was almost double the stock clock speed (550). As far as the D2G, I doubt overclocking will have a significant impact. Ditching blur and using a custom rom would be much more noticeable.

Overclocking is fun for a bit before you start worrying about battery life.

ha. RIM must be getting desperate

http://www.bgr.com/2011/03/03/exclusive-blackberry-messenger-will-launch-on-android-and-ios/

Quote :
"BGR has learned from multiple trusted sources that Research In Motion is planning to bring its beloved BlackBerry Messenger app and service to Android, and eventually to iOS as well. According to our sources, RIM has not yet finalized details surrounding timing or pricing, but we have heard that the company might make the software free to all users. We’re also told strategy is still being developed, however, and RIM may end up charging users a one-time fee or even a recurring fee for access to its BBM service on third-party platforms.

It might seem a bit strange for RIM to want to bring the software that is responsible for keeping BlackBerry devices in the hands of countless potential defectors, but in the big picture, we think it could make sense. The company is getting very frustrated with applications like WhatsApp and Kik offering third-party experiences based on a concept RIM invented, and RIM apparently wants to own the space.

As far as what Android and iOS users can look forward to, we’ve been told RIM will offer stripped down versions of the BBM experience BlackBerry owners know and love. That way, Android and iOS users can communicate with practically anyone who has a smartphone using BBM, but they might not be able to share photos, location, or videos (when RIM crosses that bridge). Users who want the full BlackBerry Messenger experience will still need a BlackBerry smartphone to get it. At the same time, RIM could own the entire messaging app category on every major smartphone OS platform and could potentially draw new users in because it has given them a taste of what BlackBerry Messenger is all about.

Right now, we have heard that Android is definitely a go. But again, we’re not sure on timing, though our sources are confident that it will launch some time this year. RIM chose Android first because of the fact that it could develop and integrate something like this much easier with an open platform, but the plan is to build and deploy an iOS version at some point as well."

lame. don't know anyone with BBs anymore and those that I do know don't know how to or don't use BBM.

I hated having a blackberry, sending someone a BBM and then getting a text in response.

^I've been pretty happy with my Motorola car mount. I use it with my extended battery and I've tested it with my sister's DX that has a silicone case without issue. Unless you have a bulky case, I don't see what could make a different mount better.

Has anyone found some good rom's, or whatever you call it when you root a phone, for the epic yet? and would anyone like to walk me through doing that to my phone (over a couple of beers, on my tab of course)

I am thoroughly unimpressed with froyo on here, and now that my fiancee got an evo, I really want my epic to work to its full capabilities so I can still thumb my nose at her phone.

I haven't been in this thread in months. Has anybody with AT&T got the Atrix? If so, how is it?

DamnStraight, I got the Motorola Car Mount for the Droid X off of Amazon for $25 a couple of weeks ago. It works really good with my X. I had a bracketron car mount but my X would occasionally fall out

Who is running CM7 on their EVo with matted blues?

The xda thread has the theme for nightly 08 and RC1. Does that mean I should install CM7 n08 and matted blues 08 or do I find the most stable nightly and use matted blues 08?

Ok now it says Full - 11. lol

I want a functional CM7. Samsung

http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/06/sprint-announcing-nexus-s-4g-evo-3d-and-evo-view-tablet-at-cti/
Quote :
"Sprint announcing Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View tablet at CTIA?
By Chris Ziegler posted Mar 6th 2011 3:50PM
Exclusive

The media -- yours truly included -- has been trying to figure out why Sprint has booked an insane two-and-a-half hour slot at CTIA later this month. That's not the kind of event you throw together just to rehash the devices you've introduced over the last half year -- something's up, and if our source is correct, they're up to something big.

First, we're hearing that the carrier will launch the Nexus S 4G from Samsung, and judging from the name, the phone should be something akin to a Nexus S with WiMAX. It seems this one could be either the SPH-D600 or SPH-D720, both of which have recently received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, though the SPH-D720 is more likely; the D600 shows WPS support, which is available in TouchWiz-skinned devices but not in stock Gingerbread. You might recall that Sprint came very, very close to launching its own version of the Nexus One before dropping it in favor of the EVO 4G last year, so maybe they're ready to do the deed this time.

Next, a couple that we don't have much detail on: the EVO 3D, which is... well, a 3D-capable EVO of some sort. 2011 is certainly shaping up to be the year of 3D phones and tablets, so that wouldn't be much of a surprise. The other unit in the mix is the EVO View, a tablet that we're guessing will shape up to be something of a CDMA-powered Flyer. If this all pans out, it's looking like Sprint could own this show. CES was a bit of a dud for them, you might recall -- the EVO Shift 4G was the only handset announcement there -- so they're overdue."

I have one, I paid 599 and activated it for two years.

It is fucking awesome. My only complaint is I dont have more time/oppertunity to use it, most of my real estate work has to be done on a PC, the Multiple Listing Service only uses IE and will not load on any other browsers, and much of what else I do is in MS office.

It is still great for calendar, gmail, and I love the Zillow app on it, the faster processor makes it render a million times faster.

when you get tired of matted blues, try switching to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978049 sculpted 2.0

and then keep warm z as a nandroid backup for all those things you need Sense for. that's how we do...

edit; the only thing that bugs me on CM is the slow SD card transfer speed issue

It works fine on my Evo and flashing that seemed to install everything I needed. Is it possible he has to hunt for everything in the market?

I do have Titanium Pro, and it seems as though all my access points were insta-restored. He's reflashing now, CM7 first in recovery and then Gapps while still in recovery.

I'm probably going to fuck everything up by reinstalling mattedblues 13 over this rc2 but whatever.
