107 wins

Huge chance to silence all doubters and we give up 51
10/27/2018 10:53:20 PM
yeah, a win over Syracuse would have "silenced all doubters"
10/27/2018 10:59:24 PM
This was a must win for him in my eyes. I know he won't get fired, but his credibility hinged on getting a solid road divisional win and we just missed the chance. It was the only chance we had for us to make the case that our program is anything more than mediocre this year. Even if we win the next three we will not be ranked and we will be playing in another god damn mediocre bowl game that no one outside of the two fan bases care anything about. I know I sound like a butthurt State fan but that's just the truth.
10/27/2018 11:03:23 PM
A game on the road against a 5-2 team after we just got blown out, I think it most certainly would have. After this one, we would be favored in all left.Good news is Orange Bowl wasn't in play anyway and the rest of the league is just as mediocre. Orlando for Camping World would be nice.
10/27/2018 11:04:12 PM
the math has us going 4-1 to finish the year (well, 4.14-0.86). id be shocked if we only trip up once on the way out given the teams ahead of us even if they all blow this year but who knowsthen again going 9-3 with our best win being...virginia?...then having only a third tier bowl game to "celebrate" a 10 win season seems very nc state, and doeren is a very nc state coach
10/27/2018 11:17:57 PM
Bodes well for Syracuse ending the season ranked.
10/27/2018 11:34:08 PM
So does this mean we play ECU now?
10/27/2018 11:37:31 PM
Belk Bowl here we come

4th in the division is nothing to scoff at fellas. It is the mighty ACC Atlantic.
10/28/2018 5:43:23 PM
I have changed my mind. UVA is the 2nd best team in the ACC this year.

In that guy's defense, DD was born and raised in Kansas. He also coached at Kansas from 2002-2005He won't leave us to coach there, but there's a little more to it than just "random guy on twitter says DD to kansas"
11/5/2018 12:39:52 AM
The Kansas City Star wrote the article not some random dude on Twitter. He coached there, is from there, and reportedly wanted the job in 2011.
11/5/2018 12:45:40 AM
Well then, I think you answered your own question.

Rock Chalk

Kansas is an obvious step down from State. But I don’t blame them (their fans, writers, etc) for at least having him on their list. I mean...half our fan base thought Sean Miller would leave Zona for State because he’s an east coast guy that used to be an assistant here. [Edited on November 5, 2018 at 9:22 AM. Reason : A]

wild how an average, conservative coach can show his true colors in a prime time loss[Edited on November 8, 2018 at 11:11 PM. Reason : .]
11/8/2018 11:11:16 PM
Can’t beat Wake, what a joke.
11/8/2018 11:14:37 PM
This guy turned DOWN a SEC job.
11/8/2018 11:24:04 PM
Going for it on 4th down was the right call (don’t think anybody’s arguing otherwise, I just wanted to at least acknowledge that). This is probably the worst loss of the DD era. ECU loss was bad but was away and OOC so whatever. BC loss a few years ago to end their losing streak was bad too. But this is the worst imo.
11/8/2018 11:26:53 PM
DD either needs to think before he speaks or stop being an asshole whichever. Its annoying enough giving clemson fodder every year, you prob shouldn't even hint at talking shit about your best player....
11/8/2018 11:34:57 PM
What did he say?
11/8/2018 11:41:13 PM
"We had two play calls (in the red zone) and we couldn't get the ball to (Kelvin Harmon)... We're down there and there were several plays we wanted to get the ball to him, but he has to get open."
11/8/2018 11:45:08 PM
11/8/2018 11:47:01 PM
Obviously we’re interpreting that differently. To me that is “you can’t throw the ball to a player that’s covered”. I guess I see the “he needs to try harder” in there but it’s not at all how I interpreted it.I don’t read that as him throwing Harmon under the bus at all.
11/8/2018 11:47:24 PM
That's why I implied that DD maybe needs to think a little more about his phrasing before he speaks. He has a history of muddy statements, normally towards the other team but still.
11/8/2018 11:52:19 PM
Thinking before you speak is far too similar to a "game plan"
11/8/2018 11:54:08 PM
Yeah he definitely has said stuff shouldn’t have. I don’t personally think this falls in that category but that’s just my opinion. Definitely don’t wanna reputation of throwing dudes under the bus
11/8/2018 11:54:35 PM
I don't know much about the PP mods/reporters but one of them pointed that out as his interpretation
11/8/2018 11:57:22 PM
Ole Dave is saving us money so we go to Charlotte for the Belk Bowl19 point favs at home and lose to a guy making his first start at QB
11/9/2018 12:08:28 AM
11/9/2018 12:46:34 AM
hell, he was involved in the ole miss job as well. didn't get as far as he did with UT but still...he was in demand.
11/9/2018 6:38:18 AM
JUST good enough not to fire!We could definitely clean out some assistants though.
11/9/2018 9:06:27 AM
Spoiler: we won'tHux 4 Life
11/9/2018 9:14:03 AM
^^ I mean I’m as disappointed as anybody right now. But “just good enough not to fire” is an overstatement imo. Even with the loss, we’re on the verge of our first back to back winning seasons in the ACC since 1991-1992. The argument will be, but the ACC is down. And hey - maybe you’re right. The ACC was also down when Wake won the conference in 2006. The ACC was down in 08 when 5-3 VT won the conference. Or 2005 when 5-3 FSU won the conference. This isn’t the first stretch of the ACC being down, so to me that argument holds less weight. We had plenty of chances at good season when the ACC was weak prior to now and we inevitably went 3-5 or 4-4 or whatever. That doesn’t excuse this particular loss. But I’m trying to put this 2 season stretch in perspective. Recruiting is as good as it’s been since Amato. Things aren’t perfect. I don’t think Doeren is a golden god. But imo we’re trending in the right direction. And burning it down to hire a new coach and start all over isn’t gonna get us anywhere except in another rebuild.[Edited on November 9, 2018 at 9:45 AM. Reason : But yeah cleaning house on coordinators is fine with me. ]
11/9/2018 9:44:39 AM
Things aren't perfect but the recruiting is gold. We've got Robert Crisp, Anthony Creecy, David Amerson, Mustafa Greene. Just give this guy time. This is in no way a high water mark. Patience. #1pack1goal
11/9/2018 9:50:46 AM
comparing DD's recruiting to TOB's isn't gonna help your argument [Edited on November 9, 2018 at 10:03 AM. Reason : i too remember us all salivating over 3* program savior mustafa greene ]
11/9/2018 10:01:32 AM
Who is arguing, friend? We are in complete agreement here. Dave isn't going anywhere. He gets to tread water for, at a minimum, two more years. Then it's back to MACtion. And we were celebrating over 5* Robert Crisp. That's why his name was first. And Mustafa Greene could break a tackle. Just couldn't fucking go to class. Happy Friday Buds.
11/9/2018 10:10:26 AM
you specifically mentioned recruiting and then listed players...so yeah, i was pointing out that Greene wasn't a top flight recruit. yes, he was a good football player. but his status as a recruit doesn't really fit in with that list. and again, DD's recruiting > TOB's so it's really irrelevant altogether.furthermore - while obviously some people wanted to give TOB more time or didn't think we could do better than him...we all realistically knew with his age that he was nothing more than a stop gap between coaches. he was never going to be a long term solution. and maybe DD isn't. but again, i think it's an apples to oranges comparison for more than one reason. [Edited on November 9, 2018 at 10:23 AM. Reason : f]
11/9/2018 10:21:10 AM
You're not pointing out the biggest flaw with my "argument" though. That recruiting class was before the 2010 high water mark. Danger Dave just had his most successful recruiting run so if anything NEXXXXT year will be his high water mark. So regardless it's progress, because his big letdown will be better than TOB's in every way. Gradual progression of suck. Brick by brick. I do look forward to the "obviously we knew a mac coach wasn't the long term solution. DD was just a place holder for the REAL coach" posts.
11/9/2018 10:39:57 AM
Boy, do you seem like a fun person! But really, a question for somebody with better memory than me...am I off my rocker and just doing my own revisionist history with the “TOB was never gonna be a long term solution” because that feels like something we all knew and acknowledged. A 60 year old dude could come in, get the program on track, build a solid foundation and then retire. That very obviously isn’t what happened...but am I being a revisionist by thinking that was the line of thinking at the time?

i will give doeren +0.5 credit for todayyes, unc is god awful but the reason doeren has been a disappointment is that he'd ALWAYS, ALWAYS find a way to lose these games and today he didnt. so congratulations for not failing, dave. reggie g was worth that scholly
11/24/2018 4:24:35 PM
Grudgingly +0.5 credit, agree with ^But man we could have won 10 this year easy[Edited on November 24, 2018 at 4:27 PM. Reason : I don’t know if firing Hux is the answer but we need a change on defense]
11/24/2018 4:26:59 PM
Our defense stunk this year, but today it didn't help missing our best defender and losing a starting DE early
