Who is saying Brown is even out for the next game? Looks like a Seth Curry situation to me...
1/29/2013 10:12:58 PM
1/29/2013 10:13:36 PM
Brown was standing and clapping the 2nd half; you fools overreact for no reason. He tweaked his ankle, and I'm sure Gott was making sure he didn't seriously fuck it up and aggravate it by putting him back in knowing full damned well we have Miami to play at home coming up. We almost had the game without him, barring some NC State shit basically...
1/29/2013 10:18:10 PM
to stay at the top Miami (AT HOME) and clempson on the road are a must.
1/29/2013 10:40:35 PM
Lewis should get more playing time as a ball handler/distributor, but Gott. should tell him never to shoot. He always takes dumb shots.
1/29/2013 10:41:24 PM
we are 6 points away from being 19-2[Edited on January 29, 2013 at 11:12 PM. Reason : we are a top 10 team.]

1/29/2013 11:13:53 PM
So the question is how will we do in the NIT?
1/29/2013 11:38:13 PM
Top 30 team
1/30/2013 7:21:33 AM
I still think Lewis should have played a little more last night. Purvis is better off the ball and Lewis is just a better game manager. UVa wasn't allowing us to run last night, so that takes away any advantage Purvis had over Lewis. That's the one coaching mistake I think Gott made last night. Also...we might should have went zone early in the 2nd half when our defense started breaking down.
1/30/2013 7:34:50 AM
We slipped to 42% chance to beat Miami. Things sure are getting ugly fast. It'll obviously be significantly lower than that if Zo isn't 100%.Then Duke is going to hand us our ass next week. [Edited on January 30, 2013 at 7:45 AM. Reason : a]
1/30/2013 7:44:21 AM
Well I also blame Gott some because we came out of at least 3 timeouts and didn't score once, 3 straight bad shots or turnovers.

1/30/2013 7:53:25 AM
Lucky for us the second half of the ACC season is a joke.
1/30/2013 8:01:57 AM
Once everyone realizes we're not going to win the ACC regular season title, the losses won't hurt as much. 12-6 is likely with losses @Duke, @UNC, @FSU, or Miami this Saturday.
1/30/2013 8:53:14 AM
12-6 is going to be REALLY tough now. I think we lose to Miami, duke and unc. Then 1-2 more of our remaining games which puts us at 11-7 or 10-8.This just isn't a good team still. We can turn it around but it looks more unlikely every day.
1/30/2013 8:58:43 AM
When we lose to Miami on Saturday we will be five games back in the ACC so stick a fork in that. If we finish in third place I will be ecstatic at this point. Based just on how we have played so far this year we will lose five more games, finish 10-8 in the ACC, and end up on the bubble. Sure we have the potential to run the table and finish top 3 but that looks less and less likely.[Edited on January 30, 2013 at 9:04 AM. Reason : .]

Not trying to knock lewis, but he's a pass-first pg, he averages 9 mpg, and he's shooting 25%. I hope he doesn't take more than 3 shots a game. And I want to defend the guy, but he does take some bad shots.(I think he'll be solid in the coming years, but it's gonna take a while. That said, if Zo is out, I'm more comfortable with Lewis running the point than Purvis)
1/30/2013 12:52:28 PM
We don't need Lewis to take shots, that's the important thing to understand. We need Lewis to distribute the ball and be a pure point. He's not Brown, and probably never will be the same PG as Brown. Play his strengths, turnover protection, speed, intelligent court management, and take the open shots that are given.
1/30/2013 12:56:47 PM
exactly, well said.
1/30/2013 12:59:53 PM
Guys seriously give it a rest. Lewis shoots under 30% from the field, has a super low usage rate, and a 18.5 ast rate vs a 23.5 to rate. On top of all that he's a disaster on defense. The kid can't play. Not this year anyway. If we don't have Zo we are fucked but we give ourselves the best chance to win with Lewis on the bench and Howell/Leslie running the offense.
1/30/2013 1:23:15 PM
We'll still need a goddamn point guard who can bring it up the court or we'll get pressed and turn it over every goddamn time.Damn i'm tired of face (i know, stop feeding the troll)
1/30/2013 1:26:49 PM
haha, what a joke.Every turnover we give up equates to points for them. Especially considering our transition defense, and defense in general. So it's even more important to have Lewis on PG instead of CJL or Purvis, as they have shown sloppiness and bad court management. When the ball is in Lewis's hands we can lower turnovers, and actually run set plays, versus Purvis's pull up 3 with a full shot clock or CJL turnover or offensive foul.Lewis is our second best PG for a lot of reasons, least of which being his shot percentage.[Edited on January 30, 2013 at 1:46 PM. 1/30/2013 1:44:53 PM
(i was arguing that lewis needs to be our pg if zo is out)
1/30/2013 2:00:55 PM
man, i really want this Miami win
1/30/2013 2:05:34 PM
You guys are making arguments that don't exist. When we are on offense the ball isn't in Lewis hands. He is standing in the corner while the rest of the team plays 4 on 5. Damn do you guys even watch the games? He brings almost nothing to the table. You guys must yearn for the days of dom mejia too
1/30/2013 2:20:40 PM
It was pretty bad last night when Leslie was bringing the ball up and Lewis had to basically yell at him 2 or 3 times to pass it to him at halfcourt.
1/30/2013 2:22:53 PM
If they play to Lewis's strength, and treat him as a distributor and ball-handler, CJL, Purvis, Howell, and Warren will be making more spectacular plays with less effort. The problem is they aren't being coached to play that way right now. When Brown got injured, Gott should have regrouped, explained the new offense to execute.Instead it turned into whomever gets the rebound tries to fastbreak to the rim. Stupid.[Edited on January 30, 2013 at 2:36 PM. Reason : -]
1/30/2013 2:26:24 PM
1/30/2013 2:34:48 PM
If that becomes an issue we can worry about it. Last night was a halfcourt game and we ran the high low game with our bigs while Tyler stood in the corner. You guys are making it sound like we are going up against rick pitino 40 minutes of hell. We can't win with Tyler so if Zo is hurt we have to figure out how to win without him. Zo should be fine anyway.
1/30/2013 2:39:18 PM
yeah, hopefully zo will be fine.
1/30/2013 2:41:33 PM
Yes, we can win with Tyler. We just have to change the offense to fit his play-style.Zo is a slasher/shooting guard, and Lewis isn't, but both are/can be effective with different offensive styles.
1/30/2013 2:43:07 PM
Why don't we just put vandy, staats, and two guys from carmichael out there play run & gun offense, with triangle and two defense. We'll put the system on trial. Enough.
1/30/2013 2:45:19 PM
Not a very compelling retort. You lack vision sir.Are you a UNC fan?
1/30/2013 2:56:21 PM
reading these threads make me want to
1/30/2013 2:57:15 PM
Yeah, it's nearly a complete waste of time. I wonder why
1/30/2013 3:09:16 PM
So say Zo is out, and we don't play Lewis. Purvis at the point and Warren, Leslie, Howell, and Wood also starting. Do you expect all 5 of them to play 40 minutes each? If not, what's the game plan here? Don't say Jevoni Robinson, either. I don't know how he has acquired this cult hero status having barely set foot on the court this season. FFS, he's not even a guard.
1/30/2013 3:23:39 PM
1/30/2013 4:17:30 PM
mays didnt turn the ball over eitherand lewis has barely played in the league prior to last night. for good reason.[Edited on January 30, 2013 at 5:27 PM. Reason : 1.2:0.7 is a crappy ratio but hes at a small sample right now where 1 game could skew]
1/30/2013 5:26:10 PM
Pretty sure Mays turned it over more and got worse as a Sophomore. But whatever remove Lewis's scholarship, he clearly will never help us.
1/30/2013 6:13:44 PM
1/30/2013 6:40:59 PM
lewis might be playable one day but it won't be one of the next 90 days so stop talking about him jesus christ.
1/30/2013 7:05:58 PM
So, let me get this straight. Our best player went down in a game and there has been no comment as to the type/severity of the injury?
