that's a huge red flag when the school wasn't on the radar until "coach" got involved....

im hoping they get all these recruits to commit, but later on the NCAA hammer hits and they all de-commit lol

Latest is he is holding off announcing so he can make a trip to UNC

before today, I would have called "BS" because Alabama and the home team South Carolina have been coming at Clowney the hardest and have been in his top 3 for a LONG time. But now I see that anything is possible. Clowney would be stupid to go to UNC, or the ACC for that matter. As much as the ACC would love to have him, he'd be much better suited playing in the SEC.

I don't even know what would possess that guy to say something like that. I mean, keep it on the DL, damn.

Tre Jackson ended up getting a full ride to FSU, no more grey-shirt. He signed with them today. Oh well.

Seeing UNC's class makes me wonder if this is what it was like watching Amato recruit. All that talent but falling short on the field. Haven't kept up with them that much but I wonder if they have the gaping holes like chuck did on the o line.
2/2/2011 2:06:54 PM
Amato NEVER consistently recruited at this level.
2/2/2011 2:09:03 PM
True, but he got a dozen players who were more highly ranked than any single player TOB's gotten thus far.[Edited on February 2, 2011 at 2:10 PM. Reason : except maybe Crisp]
2/2/2011 2:10:31 PM
Not sure what that has to do with my comment. I believe the comparison was between Butch and Amato.
2/2/2011 2:17:35 PM
Glennon was like the #3 QB, #1 Pro-style. Manning was like the #7 LB. TOB has brought in highly rated players besides Crisp.
2/2/2011 2:18:31 PM
AJ Davis, Demario Pressley, Toney Baker, Richard Washington, Mario Williams and Derek Morris were ranked higher at their position than anyone TOB had brought in.

Wasn't Tramain Hall in the top 10 as both a corner and a wide receiver?
2/2/2011 2:46:07 PM
Point is, Amato got better players, O'Brien's recruits develop more once they get here. Ideally, we get the top 10 guys and they develop to the next level during the 3-4 years they're here.

Derek Morris was the worst. He made me sad everytime he got a penalty. Which was atleast 3 times a game.
2/2/2011 2:50:18 PM
i've forgotten what it feels like to see a single-digit number beside a position ranking for an ncsu recruit.oh well. coach em up
2/2/2011 2:58:26 PM
so it looks like 20 ppl signed, everyone on the list. i think this class is fine. It'll have to be i guess
2/2/2011 3:32:32 PM
2/2/2011 3:39:17 PM
hopefully this will be a solid filler class with a breakout recruiting year from TOB and staff next year after the 2010 season/success.can somebody explain how on rivals we are still ranked last, behind duke and wake. both have less 3 star commits, no 4 star commits and have a lower average star/player. makes no sense to me.
2/2/2011 3:39:44 PM
^ wow, really? There is no way that State can be fucking 12th in the ACC

I agree, I mean, it sounds bad, but if there was something bad going on he wouldnt have said that obviously, so I am sure it was innocent.hahahha, not related to State, but Floyd Raven's mom forged his signature on an LOI to Ole Miss hahaha... he called Nutt and told him that he is going to Texas A&M and that his mom was a nut job [Edited on February 2, 2011 at 3:55 PM. 2/2/2011 5:05:03 PM
I'm pretty happy with the class. From what I've heard you don't see the dividends from a good season until the next year's recruiting class and it seems that the early buzz around the 2012 class is pretty positive. O'Brien filled some needs and continued to build up the depth chart that was heavily depleted when Amato left. Other than at WR and DL we didn't lose a ton (other than Nate at LB), and with or without RW (although I hope like hell he comes back) we should be pretty good next year - especially with that weak ass OOC schedule.
2/2/2011 5:08:11 PM
I haven't been really keeping up with the recruiting #'s but it sounds like us taking 20 instead of the original 18 was TOB recruiting over these players leaving the program.

2/2/2011 5:10:45 PM
Toney Baker had an injury to what is known as the "unhappy triad". He tore his medial meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament, and medial collateral ligament for sure. I'm not sure if there was any other ligaments damaged.

I'm just glad our future special teams have serious potential rather than the glaring, game-changing weak spot it is now.
2/2/2011 5:57:27 PM
I'm excited with 2012 already. Sessoms and Clark already, hopefully K'Hardree Hooker soon. We're in good shape for Noah Spence and maybe Avery Young (Willie's little brother).
2/2/2011 10:02:51 PM
Didn't Spence's father play for State?
2/2/2011 10:17:52 PM
^^^^ I thought the coach said it
