Everyone needs to contact Gov. Perdue to tell her to sign HB650 into law. This is a wonderful bill that protects our freedoms, removes some stupid from NC laws, and provides for common sense firearm legislation.

^awesome news

also just got my Crossbreed Supertuck holster in the mail today and wow I am impressed. I'm a skinny guy (6'0 140lbs) and this thing makes an H&K P2000SK (same size as a glock 26) disappear. Even with a fairly tight t-shirt it's almost impossible to see.

Definitely worth the money and the wait

Picking up a Kahr PM9 today and possibly a S&W 686 as well. Pics to follow.

Any recommendations for a pocket holster for the PM9?

Yeah, I am looking at getting the mini tuck but I want a pocket holster too for times where I just want to throw it in my pocket like when walking the dogs with gym shorts. I know I could get a belly band but I don't really like the looks of that. Doesn't seem like it would be comfortable down here in the Texas heat where I am already sweating my ass off.

I've always heard the desantis nemesis recommended for a pocket holster, but no first hand experience

Thanks, I will check it out.

In the mean time here are some pics...

Haven't shot it yet but I really like the feel of it and the trigger feels really nice dry firing it. Definitely a long trigger pull but very smooth.

The show wasn't as awful as I expected. That said, I was in the market for an AR or a compact pistol and nothing really jumped out at me.

Won an auction on gunbroker for an A-Bolt 22LR last week. Should be coming soon. Pumped to see what this thing can put on paper

Of course. I live dangerously.

It was part of a package that included a box of defective condoms. From Mexico I think.

So what has changed? I see that you can carry concealed in state parks and rest areas. Was there already no duty to retreat inside your vehicle, or is that new? Concealed carry permits from all other states now valid.

True castle doctrine for the first time. No duty to retreat anywhere you are allowed to be. Concealed carry in banks. 45 day turnaround on CHP's.

The best part - and I will have to research this to be 100% sure - but I believe we are totally G2G on NFA now.

I am getting my first handgun and am looking at a budget around $500. The two I have narrowed it down to are;

Springfield XD
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/13342

and

Ruger SR9c
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/62287

Any helpful info? From the research I've done, both of there guns look like they are solid. I will be using it for personal defense and target shooting and want the 9mm for the cheaper ammo. Are there any others I should take a look at? Permit will be ready on July5th and after a couple times to the range I will be taking the CC class.

I shoot the XD and XDm compedativly and prefer the XDm especially in the 9mm. You can't beat being able to hold 20 rounds especially if it's a truck or home defense gun. If you plan on shooting USPSA the XDm is great because you can get a +5 140mm floor plate if you want to shoot limited. I love being able to load 25rounds! It works out great in three gun, I usually never have to reload pistol.

The XD looks and feels way nicer than the SR9, the advantage definitely goes to Springfield in that comparison. Aftermarket part support is slightly better on the XD, ie, you will find holster options easier to come by. Overall, I am an XD fan for both EDC and competitive shooting.

Take a look at the S&W MP series. They are very comparable, and have a lower bore, which I like about them. I have a S&W MP40 that I like, but I am trying to sell it because I want a revolver. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. I currently have about 100 rds of ammo to go with it.

I found this link that explains HB650, section by section, in layman's terms. It appears that the NFA provision is indeed loosened up, so no more crap when trying to pick up a MG.

I have pretty much made my mind up on the XD. Now I just need to decide if I want the compact or subcompact. Friend has a compact with the 4" barrel and I am going to see about renting a subcompact with the 3.5" barrel to get a feel for the two of them.

As far as the differences in the XD and XDm, I am not seeing it worth the extra ~$100 for the XDm. I will say I want to put a tactical light/laser on the gun and dont like the grip lasers. Do both the XD and XDm have the rails to do so?

^^Yes, they do. The XDm also has better grips, a better barrel, and holds an additional round.

I have a XD-40 and I absolutely love it. I've shot the Ruger SR9c and it's a good firearm, but the XD wins out IMHO.

as far asXDm vs XD, I didn't think the XDm was really worth ~$100 more. You get the match grade barrel, changeable backstrap and and extra round, but 13+1 for my 40 was good enough, didn't care to change the backstrap (the xd grip was great for me). and well, i'm not match shooting and the XD barrel is perfectly fine for anything else.

need restaurant carry and a law that forces employers to allow employees to keep their weapons locked in their vehicle while at work. my company effectively disarms me on my way to and from work and anywhere i may stop on those trips. we can have long guns, but you get the point.

the locked-in-your-vehicle thing would also be good for college campuses cause we're a long way from campus carry

maybe in another 20 years or so

Ideas for a replacement?

Also, when did Davi's shut down? I just saw that today.

Aimpoint is the gold standard for red dots if you ask most folks. EOTech isn't bad but has had some battery issues in the past.

most people I've talked to prefer the Eotech because of the larger field of vision, better accuracy, and reduced target acquisition time. The battery life is reduced, but they take AA's and can be changed out in a matter of seconds.
