Everyone needs to contact Gov. Perdue to tell her to sign HB650 into law. This is a wonderful bill that protects our freedoms, removes some stupid from NC laws, and provides for common sense firearm legislation.

^awesome newsalso just got my Crossbreed Supertuck holster in the mail today and wow I am impressed. I'm a skinny guy (6'0 140lbs) and this thing makes an H&K P2000SK (same size as a glock 26) disappear. Even with a fairly tight t-shirt it's almost impossible to see.Definitely worth the money and the wait
6/17/2011 4:42:54 PM
this is good to hear... hopefully the restaurant provision isn't far behind
6/17/2011 10:43:13 PM
Picking up a Kahr PM9 today and possibly a S&W 686 as well. Pics to follow.Any recommendations for a pocket holster for the PM9?
6/18/2011 9:58:51 AM
i carry my cw9 in a crossbreed supertuck
6/18/2011 10:23:40 AM
Yeah, I am looking at getting the mini tuck but I want a pocket holster too for times where I just want to throw it in my pocket like when walking the dogs with gym shorts. I know I could get a belly band but I don't really like the looks of that. Doesn't seem like it would be comfortable down here in the Texas heat where I am already sweating my ass off.
6/18/2011 11:21:42 AM
I've always heard the desantis nemesis recommended for a pocket holster, but no first hand experience
6/18/2011 11:59:24 AM
Thanks, I will check it out.In the mean time here are some pics...Haven't shot it yet but I really like the feel of it and the trigger feels really nice dry firing it. Definitely a long trigger pull but very smooth.

anyone going to the gun show this weekend?
6/18/2011 3:00:51 PM
Didn't know there was one until you mentioned it. http://www.cegunshows.com/ShowInformation/RaleighNC/tabid/78/Default.aspxNow that I know- yes, I'll be going tomorrow
6/18/2011 3:31:42 PM
anyone know where I can get some 2 3/4" 20ga blanks? haven't found any in raleigh/online. ^sent you a PM about this as well since you may be going to the show[Edited on June 18, 2011 at 5:57 PM. Reason : .]
6/18/2011 5:57:18 PM
the C&E show sucked when i went
6/18/2011 6:03:45 PM
The show wasn't as awful as I expected. That said, I was in the market for an AR or a compact pistol and nothing really jumped out at me.
6/18/2011 11:54:47 PM
Won an auction on gunbroker for an A-Bolt 22LR last week. Should be coming soon. Pumped to see what this thing can put on paper
6/19/2011 8:28:22 AM
Bought a loaded AR.Red dot, laser, flashlight, bipod already on.GF will not be happy.
6/19/2011 4:34:37 PM
I imagine the most fun aspect of owning an AR would be building it yourself
6/20/2011 12:32:42 AM
^^From the gun show this weekend?

HB 650 was signed by Perdue today:http://www.wral.com/news/state/nccapitol/blogpost/9773230/http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/billlookup/billlookup.pl?Session=2011&BillID=H650

Woot
6/23/2011 9:31:24 PM
So what has changed? I see that you can carry concealed in state parks and rest areas. Was there already no duty to retreat inside your vehicle, or is that new? Concealed carry permits from all other states now valid.
6/23/2011 9:46:31 PM
awesome! now if we can just get restaurant carry passed.
6/24/2011 7:38:05 AM
True castle doctrine for the first time. No duty to retreat anywhere you are allowed to be. Concealed carry in banks. 45 day turnaround on CHP's.The best part - and I will have to research this to be 100% sure - but I believe we are totally G2G on NFA now.[Edited on June 24, 2011 at 10:52 AM. I am getting my first handgun and am looking at a budget around $500. The two I have narrowed it down to are;Springfield XDhttp://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/13342andRuger SR9chttp://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/62287Any helpful info? From the research I've done, both of there guns look like they are solid. I will be using it for personal defense and target shooting and want the 9mm for the cheaper ammo. Are there any others I should take a look at? Permit will be ready on July5th and after a couple times to the range I will be taking the CC class.
6/24/2011 11:35:07 AM
I shoot the XD and XDm compedativly and prefer the XDm especially in the 9mm. You can't beat being able to hold 20 rounds especially if it's a truck or home defense gun. If you plan on shooting USPSA the XDm is great because you can get a +5 140mm floor plate if you want to shoot limited. I love being able to load 25rounds! It works out great in three gun, I usually never have to reload pistol.
6/24/2011 12:38:10 PM
The XD looks and feels way nicer than the SR9, the advantage definitely goes to Springfield in that comparison. Aftermarket part support is slightly better on the XD, ie, you will find holster options easier to come by. Overall, I am an XD fan for both EDC and competitive shooting.
6/24/2011 2:01:33 PM
Take a look at the S&W MP series. They are very comparable, and have a lower bore, which I like about them. I have a S&W MP40 that I like, but I am trying to sell it because I want a revolver. Shoot me a PM if you are interested. I currently have about 100 rds of ammo to go with it.
6/24/2011 2:17:18 PM
I found this link that explains HB650, section by section, in layman's terms. It appears that the NFA provision is indeed loosened up, so no more crap when trying to pick up a MG.http://ncguns.blogspot.com/p/hb-650-what-does-it-do.html

^^Yes, they do. The XDm also has better grips, a better barrel, and holds an additional round.[Edited on June 24, 2011 at 5:16 PM. Reason : .]
6/24/2011 5:14:44 PM
Get the XDm
6/24/2011 5:16:42 PM
that guy was lucky he was able to get back to his weapon
6/24/2011 5:25:07 PM
Always pump your gas with a shotgun slung over your shoulder
6/24/2011 5:28:00 PM
I have a XD-40 and I absolutely love it. I've shot the Ruger SR9c and it's a good firearm, but the XD wins out IMHO.as far asXDm vs XD, I didn't think the XDm was really worth ~$100 more. You get the match grade barrel, changeable backstrap and and extra round, but 13+1 for my 40 was good enough, didn't care to change the backstrap (the xd grip was great for me). and well, i'm not match shooting and the XD barrel is perfectly fine for anything else.
6/24/2011 6:10:52 PM
that explanation of HB650 was excellentdidn't realize it changes the waiting time to 45 days max and allows carrying in banks
6/24/2011 6:20:42 PM
^yeh, I didn't either. somehow missed that early on.still sad about restaurant carry
6/24/2011 6:30:46 PM
need restaurant carry and a law that forces employers to allow employees to keep their weapons locked in their vehicle while at work. my company effectively disarms me on my way to and from work and anywhere i may stop on those trips. we can have long guns, but you get the point. the locked-in-your-vehicle thing would also be good for college campuses cause we're a long way from campus carrymaybe in another 20 years or so
6/24/2011 6:36:29 PM
^^dont forget it doesn't start till December 1st! I guarantee someone will be arrested before then and attempt to justify their ignorance.
6/24/2011 6:53:19 PM
SC passed a very similar bill in 2006. Glad to see castle doctrine still applies to my motor vehicle once I cross the border (or at least it will in December)
6/24/2011 11:58:17 PM
I'm getting ready to move back to NC soon and the gun laws are a major bummer. But at least it looks like they are slowly making headway. Still much to do.
6/25/2011 2:12:11 AM
my Eotech showed up yesterday, and I'm itching to get this thing sighted in.
6/25/2011 12:09:42 PM
picked up an m44 and a ton of ammo to add to my mosin collection.how do you take the floorplate off one of these? mine doesnt match...debating going to the hickory show tomorrow (last time it wasnt so great).
6/25/2011 4:45:27 PM
ok stripper clips are a bitch.
6/25/2011 8:26:27 PM
my AR came with an NCStar red dot sight that I'm not crazy about.Ideas for a replacement? Also, when did Davi's shut down? I just saw that today.
6/25/2011 10:31:25 PM
Aimpoint is the gold standard for red dots if you ask most folks. EOTech isn't bad but has had some battery issues in the past.
6/26/2011 12:49:51 AM
most people I've talked to prefer the Eotech because of the larger field of vision, better accuracy, and reduced target acquisition time. The battery life is reduced, but they take AA's and can be changed out in a matter of seconds.
