What UNC fans still don't seem to understand is that State fans aren't making fun of them about this because they cheated, but because they've always said they had the cleanest athletics program in the history of ever and did things "The Carolina Way" despite things like player's parents somehow getting jobs at UNC or houses they could never afford. Now all this has come out and they've adopted the "everyone does it" excuse. I'm pretty confident that if State was in this position, 99% of the fans would be calling for TOB's head. Also that guy shouldve picked a better NCSU sport than soccer for that IC thread. I don't follow State soccer, but I know most fans hate Tarantini, they wouldn't care if he cheated or not.

hahaha ^ actually whats beautiful about all this is that it shows how if you can get people in the right spots and manipulate them, wow, what a concoction.Kiper is a known whiffer during the draft, err, "Viper". I'm sure he doesn't restrict himself to Gary Wichard but its nice to know that "Viper" is there for him to slobber on a potential client for him.Awesome article. Now i know what's taking the NCAA so long, they're still jerking off over all the evidence that's being uncovered. They just need to "cleanup" before they pull the rug out from under UNC[Edited on October 12, 2010 at 2:35 PM. Reason : ]

In addition to two of my favorite people, Marvin Austion and John Blake; I just want to thank Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, and Biz Stone. I feel like without them, none of this controversy would've been possible. Consequentially, we wouldn't have this thread.... the thread that shall heretofore be known as:

That was a great article. Things must have really changed from the time he first paid a player in the early 90's to when I went to school in the late 90's. Players always had access to food, and Case dining hall was 10X better than Fountain. I'm not saying players wouldnt take money, but they certainly weren't so starving that they had to take money.[Edited on October 12, 2010 at 3:20 PM. Reason : Maybe Julius was starving]

Ive asked SFN to please get rid of that ad before (via Twitter)...I actually didnt see if for maybe a month until she started showing up again the past few days.So this whole State/PEDs conspiracy story the Tarholes love to blab about...Im curious what its origin is. The only drugs Ive heard of any of our players getting caught with in recent memory is weed, and thats hardly enhancing of performance. Is there some reality that this story is loosely based on?
10/12/2010 4:09:20 PM
^I don't remember exactly, but I think it was either a medication containing ephedrine (quite a stretch to find a way to call it a PED) or an inhaler (steroid medication, NOT anabolic steroids obviously). I heard rumors about both. I tried to do a quick search of all the news articles that came out afterwards but didn't find anything that mentioned anything except the performance enhancing weed and paraphernalia.Basically it's just Tarholes lashing out with absolutely no evidence or common sense to back their claims. They also conveniently forget about Sturdivant being caught with weed around the same time frame. So, they're pretty much just being normal tarheel douchers. As someone else said earlier, they're just grasping at staws and deflecting.[Edited on October 12, 2010 at 4:21 PM. Reason : .]
10/12/2010 4:18:37 PM
^One of the drugs the four was caught with was ephedrine sulfate capsules or something. My thought was that it was an athsma medication, but someone here said it was something else, I think. So I dunno what it was for.
10/12/2010 4:21:00 PM
It is an asthma medication.

this is essentially the kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar trying to be a faggot now that he got caught.
10/12/2010 5:34:56 PM
i mean you guys must have short-term memory if you don't remember that we had a strength coach and a track coach both responsible for distributing PED's. It hasn't been that long.
10/12/2010 5:40:41 PM
That agent article is really good. It's not breaking news to anyone that follows recruiting and behind the scenes stories closely but I think it will be to the casual fan.We take for granted that not all fans know that college athletes get paid by their schools, boosters, and agent wannabes because the media looks the other way all the time because they dont want to be made libel.Even well known stories like Chris Duhon, Wayne Ellington, etc don't get due coverage... hell even when someone gets caught and reprimanded like Kareem Rush or Corey Maggette you have to be a pretty avid fan to hear about it...Its disgusting how slimy it has become though and seeing someone like Calipari or Butch get away with it constantly is really annoying.I'm so glad Butch Davis is finally getting his and even happier it happened at UNC.Now, just don't go snooping around how we landed CJ Leslie and JJ Hickson I remember hearing that Hodge got 6 figures to agree to return for his senior year from a booster, but that amount seemed pretty damn high to me.... these stories here show that agents certainly aren't paying that much but perhaps boosters would...

if i may, an IC topic had the police report. In the report was injectable ephedrine sulfate. someone then sent the actual msds report on it in the particular dosage that it was found. all very standard stuff. its an asthma medicationHowever, it is technically a banned substance by the NCAA, Olympics, Tour De France etc. but not because it can enhance your performance but more because in non-standard dosages it can kill you. it was the ingredient in many diet drugs that they found out killed people. The "Performance Enhancing" part is that supposedly an athlete can take it to keep himself awake/more energy, thus workout more, thus get stronger and finally achieve a competitive advantage. The dolts over on IC think they are doing it to gain mass, i.e. eating more, but this speeds up your metabolism and would actually cause you to lose weight. However the ban is only without some kind of medical explanation, probably why you haven't seen the NCAA go after one of the players. Also a player, unless he did it of his own volition, would not have his medical records exposed due to HIPAA rules. An opposing coach could also target a player that had asthma to tire him out, much like you would a freshman CB or a QB who was limping around.

10/12/2010 5:55:27 PM
^ looks pretty clear to me as "injection" although the "capsules" seems contradictory. either way its an asthma drug regardless of delivery method and to use it for a competitive advantage is so dangerous when there are other ways to do it that are far more effective and safe. Also POT would seemingly counteract the effects so..

The rumors of Hodge are there, according to people who have covered State in the past 10 years. I've never heard anything about him returning to State for his senior year, but I've heard them about him coming to State.
10/12/2010 11:11:17 PM
Get the fuck out of this thread with this Hodge bullshit.
10/12/2010 11:13:59 PM
If Butch gets fired, whoever takes over is gonna have a very good team.....not the usual way a new coach starts, usually get fired because the team is shitty. Also, Carolina has like a zillion 5 star recruits they are have offered. They will still get very good players just because it is Carolina even if they are on probation for a few years.
10/12/2010 11:30:22 PM
no they wont.you dont understand the point of probation from the NCAA.
10/12/2010 11:34:45 PM
there's a reason why those 5-star players were even considering unc and it's not because they just think it's a great school. once the money is gone, they'll be looking elsewhere.

Wow just wow.State fans can have some serious blinders on.Did I say hodge took money? No.Did I say I've heard he took money? Yes.Did I say I thought the $100k sounded suspicious and probably incorrect? Yes.If you seriously think nc state players haven't been on the take over the years too you are a moron. You know amato was our coach at one point right?this is the ncaa, stop being so naïve and ridiculous. Its not like I'm shedding new light by mentioning hodges name. You know he was a top ten recruit, right?also, we pried CJL from calipari which I really doubt would happen for free since calipari is well known for hooking it up.
