It would probably help if the original shot were taken in *.nef format.

A lifesaver for vertical shots. You will not be dissapointed.

I've never shot without a grip before so I wouldn't know the difficulties of it. I usually just add the grip to the cost of the body and shoot for that. Although, I might omit the option when I get the new 5d, god damn those grips are hella expensive and so is the new batteries.

eh for this I'll mainly be using my 70-300 f/4-5.6 I guess, unless I can manage to check out a 70-200 2.8 from the equipment room. Also a 50 1.4, 11-16, and xsi with kit lens.

nice assignment sheet, wished we had something like that at the Technician with a little guidance instead of "go shot baseball or tennis". BH is taking 5D mkII orders... I'm like one button away from ordering it... oh god... I'm gonna be in debt for the rest of the year...

^^^ It'd be cool to to see a shot of a fast break while standing courtside-midcourt with the Tokina if you could capture a layup while also capturing the dumbfounded-"awww damnit" look of the people in the backcourt

^^the Sigma 10-20 on my d40... It distorts in fun ways... both shots were all but touching the animals

^ my laptop that I normally use is rather bright so I have distinguishing proper exposure... my d40 is set to -0.7 as recommended... the white balance is something I do actually mess with when setting up shots but those were fairly candid and unplanned... I'm explaining not making excuses...

unless your monitor is calibrated, don't trust it to make your changes, instead, use the histogram. It's a good tool to reference as it gives you a graphic representation of the tonal range. By the looks of it both are about a stop under.

why the fuck would you spend ~30 grand a year to get a photography degree?

plus, you're going to think the professors are just trolling you when you turn in a crooked duck photo

fine

1. it doesn't matter if you're not going to live on campus, you still gotta live somewhere
and unless you have family "INTERMONT"
you're gonna have a cost of living, right?

2. if you really must look at schools for your photography education

START WITH COMMUNITY COLLEGES OR AT LEAST FUCKING PUBLIC SCHOOLS

you're looking at spending money to eventually make money right? you're not going to go back to school to get better at a hobby right?

so wouldn't it make sense to minimize your expenses since there is very little you can do to make photography a more lucrative career?

are you from virginia? check out VCU, its a pretty badass school, its not on accredidation probation like Intermont, and you can get a degree from them that will have some transferable skills AND a slightly larger amount of name recognition

but once again

do you think every pro shooter went to college to do it?
how many of them do you think went to expensive private schools?

but hey, you do what you want to do and act like nothing i say is productive just because i say it with a mocking tone

Talking to me gofigure?

I am moving to Bristol so I was trying to find a college close that has Photography, this is one that popped up. I don't know if it will suit my needs or not, right now I'm doing preliminary research. Obviously, if I committed to a 4 yr degree it would be more than a hobby. Where is VCU located in Virginia? To cut extra cost of living I am looking for minimum travel to preferred school.

Generally speaking how much financial aid could one get? Is it even worth factoring in?

move to bristol TN instead, its just over the border and you'd get in state tuition to ETSU

theres no way to get in state tuition to Intermont

now - plz answer my question:

No but I've wanted to go to college for a while and do something I love. According to tdub I need A LOT of help, school could be good for me. I don;t want to be a pro because I own a SLR.

Good call on ETSU

you should get a marketable degree

i'm gonna say it one more time

you should be starting with community college photography programs if you're dead set on going to college for photography

use your eyes! I'm constantly fiddling with exposure compensation. it's one of the easiest things to change on the camera for a reason.

Ken Rockwell...

but yeah, I'll try being more flexible with it in the future... There's a trick to getting the RGB histogram onscreen after a shot that I'll start trying more often... the pictures I took today were underexposed by almost 2 stops when I adjusted the RAW's in photoshop...(The pictures sucked period since I was messing with lighting on self portraits)
