2/21/2011 12:04:08 PM
HeyTell is pretty awesome...good speed, good sound quality...free push to talk

I was pretty pissed that Sprint changed their 1 year upgrade policy. Now your plan has to be 89.99 or 169.99 single/multi respectively or you have to have had service for 10+ years. I guess I'll reap the rewards in another 3 years, but I was definitely planning on selling my phone every year and grabbing something new.
2/21/2011 2:53:14 PM
Any of you guys get in on the Xoom preorder?
2/21/2011 3:31:47 PM
can you preorder the wifi only version?if not, then no.
2/21/2011 3:42:47 PM
changed my mind because of the locked bootloader. and the wifi only version isn't available yet. i'll let the verizon kiddies be guinea pigs first...
2/21/2011 4:27:53 PM
Its 2/22 (midnight) at the earliest for anyone on the east coast to see the Sprint 2.2 Epic update http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/62961?tstart=0
2/21/2011 6:03:00 PM
any rumors about a verizon superphone due out later this year? Haven't seen much "awesome" info leaked lately.
2/21/2011 6:05:52 PM
oh shit, matt is pissed.
2/21/2011 6:11:48 PM
trying to make it a day without rooting.found out you can remove most of the bloatware on the atrix without root.
2/21/2011 6:56:16 PM
manual update.zip for those that don't want to wait for the Froyo update for the epic. Go to software, choose the mac version, save file as update.zip and move it to root of sd card, boot into recovery using volume volume down+camera+power, choose apply update.ziphttp://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-D700ZKASPR

i played with both the atrix docks at the att store when picking up my microcell today. the distro is kinda half baked and you really can't do anything worthwhile without a tethering plan. definitely not worth the money until the webtop partition is hacked and a better kernel is in there
2/21/2011 8:28:35 PM
I wouldn't count on any custom kernel work. There still aren't any for the Droid X/2 afaik. ^^ you can get the update from the link I posted.
2/21/2011 8:44:29 PM
the droid 2/x have encrypted bootloaders thanks to e-fuse, it appears that the atrix only has a locked bootloader. give the developers a few days/weeks before we make any judgement on custom kernels.i'm impressed by the speaker on the atrix. puts out good sound for a phone.]

Air Attack HDhottest new game...check it out...http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/02/21/a-must-have-new-game-airattack-hd-its-not-your-dream-game-its-the-one-after-that/
2/22/2011 2:01:23 AM
lol. Spend $800 on a Xoom and you don't even have flash support out of the box.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/21/flash-10-2-headed-to-motorola-xoom-in-a-few-weeks/
2/22/2011 8:56:00 AM
you'd think these tech companies would freaking LEARN from their mistakes and the mistakes of competitors over time, but it's obvious they're too big and profit-driven to care sometimes...microsoft and the whole copy paste on windows phone 7motorola/flash on the xoomthe list can go on and on and on...
2/22/2011 12:06:58 PM
The lack of flash at launch is Adobe's fault, they are waiting on the release of Flash 10.2 which is supposedly optimized for tablets.
2/22/2011 1:48:22 PM
the android community needs more 960x540 support
2/22/2011 4:58:39 PM
2/22/2011 5:15:07 PM
not comparing to anythingjust my own idealized version of what the tech industry should be doing by common sense, i suppose...
2/22/2011 5:23:10 PM
I'm secretly hoping they're pushing these products out the door 'cause they know the new webOS or RIM offerings are going to bring lots of heat to the tablet/phone ecosystem. Whoever figures out how to marry a tablet and a phone together - single data fee, single app purchase to access on both devices, and the holy grail: seamless application switching (from tablet to phone or vice versa) will bank my cash. And probably lots of it. I can imagine pausing a game or email reply and transfer to another device and the app and it's current state are all transferred over. Similar to the webOS tap-to-switch for the browser, but with any app.
2/22/2011 5:43:54 PM
^I'm thinking the Atrix is going to push that kind of thing into happening.
2/22/2011 5:50:46 PM
well there's one good thing about the overpriced xoomhttp://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/22/motorola-xoom-will-have-unlockablerelockable-bootloader-for-development/
2/22/2011 5:52:20 PM
supposedly motorola has a bootloader "solution" for modders/developers coming for the atrix, and i'm hoping it's similar to what the XOOM will offer
2/22/2011 5:55:46 PM
OH SNAP! but yeah, so many questions are raised now about how they will determine who is a developer...
2/22/2011 5:59:35 PM
think it's time for another list of the best games/apps on android? trying to find something to show off my tegra2 beastliness with
2/22/2011 10:03:34 PM
Where is the Nexus S for ATT, I need that ish. I can't live in another Captive environment they are getting 2.3.3 as we speak and I'm on 2.1 with 2.2 coming since Last year.
2/23/2011 8:06:36 AM
FUCK 2.3.3 I NEED MY 2.4! I DON'T CARE MY PHONE HAS BEEN OUT FOR 2 DAYS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
2/23/2011 8:08:37 AM
ha, apparently google is killing the facebook contact sync on the N1 and Nexus S.http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/22/google-disables-contact-sync-in-facebook-for-android-only-nexus/
2/23/2011 8:26:48 AM
read that last night. I can't say I disagree with google's statements
2/23/2011 8:39:26 AM
The only thing I use it for is to get contact photos for people already in my address book. And some of the integrated facebook stuff like Samsung has in touchwiz does the same thing.
2/23/2011 8:44:19 AM
I like blur's level of social integration (who needs to open the facebook app for anything but chat? ), and I liked being able to link pictures to my contacts while i was running CM7 on my Aria, but agree with the point of reciprocity (even if I don't really use it)

2/23/2011 11:31:45 AM
I said fuck waiting for the OTA update and attempted the manual update... my phone is not very happy with me right now
2/23/2011 12:19:30 PM
lol. What's it doing?
2/23/2011 12:32:38 PM
it's fine now- just took forever to load and recognize the sd card, and then have it start responding to me. But it is fine now. Unfortunately words with friends still doesn't work :-/
2/23/2011 12:42:43 PM
yeah, samsung's process to read the sd card is painfully slow and seems to have gotten even worse with Froyo.
2/23/2011 12:57:24 PM
is samsung still using that shitty propitiatory filesystem on froyo?]
2/23/2011 1:01:38 PM
Yeah rfs aka really fucking slow. I'm running a voodoo kernel that converts it to ext-4 which is what the nexus s uses and it flies.
2/23/2011 1:25:01 PM
without ext-4 or similar filesystem I found the galaxy s series to be unusable.
2/23/2011 1:38:25 PM
Im still waiting for the OTA update. still
2/23/2011 1:40:50 PM
go find it on xda and do it yourself
2/23/2011 1:45:01 PM
^^the manual update is easy as pie... takes about 10 minutes, and it is the same update you will get over the air
2/23/2011 1:46:22 PM
