Hawthorne to Minnesota. Congrats on getting a scholarship and burning a redshirt to play in place of an injured Czajkowski. He must know that Sade is going to be the next Janikowski minus the attitude.

Glad to hear it for him

He's listed at LB on rivals/scout. Is he changing position or was the DB a typo?[Edited on January 20, 2011 at 8:47 AM. Reason : I can't type]

1/23/2011 12:41:08 PM
WR Hakeem Flowers commits to NC State according to Pack Pride on twitter. Sweet!

Very good news, its tough to salvage this class but a few late signings certainly help the cause
1/23/2011 8:26:00 PM
I'll take a 3 star WR with offers from LSU, Michigan and Oregon.
1/23/2011 8:27:29 PM
I'm pretty happy with this class. We've given out 16 of our 19 schollies. All of the recruits are 3*s except Noel, who is a 4* (according to rivals) and the 3 special-teamers who are supposedly some of the best kicker/punter/long-snapper high-schoolers in the country at their position. We're adding depth at pretty much every position except running back and tight end, which we already have depth at. See the depth chart near the bottom of PP thread:http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=178&f=2515&t=6797451&p=20hopefully we're not quite done yet, a 5* LB could be icing, but the "guys in the know" on the public PP board aren't as hopeful about Anthony as they once were. but we're still getting sophomore LB EJ Carter, who has a year of experience at Syracuse (was on the all big east rookie team) and has practiced with the team for a year.[Edited on January 23, 2011 at 9:17 PM. Reason : flowers supposedly had 41 offer]

yea, this is good news on the Jones/Flowers commitments.the few highlights of saw of Flowers looks like he's got TJGraham speed but he's a natural wide receiver so he has all the instincts that I think TJ lacks at times, we'll see, but excited nonetheless.
1/24/2011 5:45:24 AM
^^How many of those were commitable offers though?
1/24/2011 6:56:20 AM
^I would say most if not all. He was originally committed to Michigan and backed out when they changed head coaches. Rumors surfaced yesterday that Oregon MIGHT have pulled their scholly yesterday since they had a 3-star WR commit yesterday, so they already had 3-4 WRs committed(1 4-star, 3 3-star). But he stated that he had committed to our coaches on Saturday, so at the time he committed it was still a commitable offer.I'm not sure if I'd compare him to Graham or Jarvis Williams or a hybrid. Scout says he has "track star speed" but then his 40 time is 4.5 which really isn't blistering it for a top-flight high school WR. And then he's 6-2/6-3 and a good route runner. So I'm not really sure what to expect because of differing reports. Heck ESPN says he needs to work on his "quickness" and "getting separation". But if he plays like JW5, then count me in.I think he'll turn out to be a solid pick-up in a couple of years after red-shirting and adding some weight/muscle.
1/24/2011 8:08:10 AM
Thank God we are pulling in a few good recruits to close out this class.
1/24/2011 8:16:45 AM
WOO HOO!! Great pick-ups for late January!Jump on board Anthony!
1/24/2011 8:27:45 AM
Flowers looks like lo brown's long lost cousin in that last picture. I am not holding my breath on Anthony. I am just sitting back and hoping that UNC doesnt grab any huge blue chippers on signing day. Seems like we have a good jump on 2012
1/24/2011 11:33:03 AM
^ i kind of think he looks a little like a young chris rockbootleg interview with Hakeem Flowershttp://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12211715[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 11:44 AM. Reason : ]
1/24/2011 11:41:49 AM
apparenlty (i read it on PP) Anthony and his teamates will NOT be visiting NC State, but will be visiting UNC.... so be prepared [Edited on January 24, 2011 at 11:49 AM. Reason : ]
1/24/2011 11:49:20 AM
Anthony's profile on PP shows a UNC visit on 1/28 and a NCSU visit on 1/29
1/24/2011 11:55:30 AM
yeah, that's apparently changed.
1/24/2011 11:58:49 AM
damn. I hope their sources are wrong.
1/24/2011 12:09:03 PM
love seeing that OL section of the depth chart.
1/24/2011 1:28:07 PM
Yeah it's true, Anthony is no longer visiting NC State this weekend, he told our coaches on Wed. that he'd be here and then on Friday called them and canceled. Most speculating that UNC/Ellerbe talked him out of visiting us at all. So we're a long-shot at best. The PP mods went as far as to say that it's such a long shot that they feel State should stop recruiting those three guys(Anthony, Ellerbe, and Hough), which I tend to agree with. We were told we'd get the last visit early in the process, without a visit, no way we land him and it sounds like we're just an after-thought at this point.

ESPN has Flowers as a 4-star, our top recruit. And Noel as a 2-star? When did ESPN start giving stars?http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/recruiting/school?id=152&class=2011&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fcollege-football%2frecruiting%2fschool%3fid%3d152%26class%3d2011

NCAA needs to hurry up with their investigation so these kids don't get fucked overand also so they all go to NC State
1/24/2011 3:34:01 PM
^^ They started doing that a year or two ago.

3* TE Benson Browne commits (according to a media report)
1/25/2011 9:40:59 AM
^^^^^It's also funny how many HS recruits are listed as having 4.3 speed. There was a funny article floating around a few years ago timing Usain Bolt's first 40 yards off of video, and listing all of the HS football players that are supposedly as fast as him.
1/25/2011 10:06:12 AM
ESPN has Flowers at a 4.69 40 time on slow turf so I wouldn't be shocked if the 4.5 is correct.
