We rewatched S6 recently and I completely lost it during the "hold the door" scene Also, the entire plot of S7 was supposedly leaked online and it sound freakin awesome. I won't post it here but you should definitely hop on the Google if you love spoilers like I do. [Edited on January 30, 2017 at 5:56 PM. Reason : ]

I'm very dubious of a lot of those spoilers

So I've watched through season 4 of GOT and am 2/3rds of the way through ADWD.I have thought the TV show had done a relatively good job of translating the story while mostly remaining true... until season 4's finale when The Hound and Brianne fight (they never meet in the books) and Jojen's death (has not died yet in ADWD). Is season 5 when the TV show starts to drastically diverge from the books?Obligatory book power rankings:1. A Storm of Swords2. Game of Thrones3. A Dance with Dragons <=== could overtake GoT if the last 1/3rd of the book is awesome4. A Clash of Kings5. A Feast for Crows

This isn't the final season? Right? I thought I heard that somewhere.
3/14/2017 11:11:35 PM
Iirc it depends if you want to consider the rest of the show as two short seasons or one long season split in half
3/15/2017 9:06:35 AM
Episodes will be longer as well I believe. ~80 min instead of 60.

SPOILER-ISH PREDICTIONS If y'all haven't seen any of Alt Shift X's videos they're stellar. Blows everything else about GoT out of the water that I've seen.[Edited on July 10, 2017 at 11:12 AM. Reason : I just copied the embed code so it was default?]

Can we expect HBO Go to work tonight?
7/16/2017 5:55:53 PM
I started watching this on April 22nd and just finished the last episode about 15 minutes ago just in time for the premier. Loved it. Now it will be tough waiting a week for the next episode but I will be able to follow along real time with this thread now.
7/16/2017 8:32:01 PM
Man I hope HBO Go brings their A-game tonight. Would be so disappointing for it to fuck up. So excited though.

good episode

Ed Sheeren were they just a group of Lannister soldiers or what? any significance outside of that that I'm missing?[Edited on July 16, 2017 at 10:52 PM. Reason : .]
7/16/2017 10:51:50 PM
^nah just trying to humanize the everyday soldiers I guess. That Sam bit was a little much
7/16/2017 11:24:16 PM
yeah I think overall this wasn't the strongest episode. Arya scene was cool. They went overboard on the Sam montage. Ed Sheeran wtf. Then it was just a lot of housekeeping on where everyone is right now. The Hound scene was cool though - looking forward to see where his character goes. Reddit seems to think Euron's gift is Tyrion or Ellaria Sand / Yara Greyjoy. Can't wait to see next week.
7/16/2017 11:39:15 PM
we had to pause after the Ed Sheeran scene due to group laughternot the greatest of signs
7/16/2017 11:59:19 PM
I don't mind one episode like this... but hopefully all the exposition is out of the way now and the season can truly begin next week.[Edited on July 17, 2017 at 1:19 AM. Reason : The cold open was nice tho ]

^^^the ringer aftershow thought maybe it was.....lets say an "artifact" from the books. Since he travels a lot he collects interesting things. Only problem with that theory is you would think he already had it.
7/17/2017 7:06:07 AM
I mean..it's the first episode...gotta lay the groundwork. Wasn't expecting much. I thought it was fine.Gotta think Euron is going to go out and battle the other Greyjoys and bring back a head or live prisoner. I think Dany starts off with a bad defeat on the seas and then starts wrecking shit. Her and Tyrion are going to take Casterly Rock fo sho.
7/17/2017 7:10:12 AM
I understand that they have to lay groundwork for the season...but they don't have enough epsidoes this season to be wasting any of them. It was fine, but I was expecting a development to occur at the end of the episode.
7/17/2017 7:15:43 AM
The 1st episode of a season is always just good. Too much setup necessary.
7/17/2017 7:19:07 AM
I agree with everyone's sentiment, it was pretty 'meh' overall. It started out strong with the Arya/Frey and army of the dead scenes, but then went downhill. Dragonstone was cool, I'm excited to see where the Hound/Beric storyline goes, and finding out about the dragon glass cache was a pretty big deal. I feel like they are really pushing the Jon Snow and Sansa butting heads thing. I hope they start working together, but with Littlefinger involved, that isn't going to happen. The Ed Sheeran scene was completely unnecessary. We only have ~16 episodes left to wrap up the series, spending time pandering to whatever audience enjoyed the Ed Sheeran cameo seems like a waste to me.Other low lights were the Sam montage and the Hound man bun reference.
7/17/2017 8:14:30 AM
I also think Euron's priceless gift is an "artifact" from the books. Not sure which one yet but either would play into Cersei's desires for absolute power.
7/17/2017 8:38:50 AM
I thought the Hounds saltyness went a little too far. Everything he said until they got in the cabin was shade.
7/17/2017 9:04:37 AM
Calling someone a "bald cunt" is not shade.

I cant believe that I didn't make the connection between the fire god/lord of light and the Hounds burns as a kid. No other character has burns like that and the entire show is about fire and ice.Of course he never looked into the fire after he got burned. He was terrified of it.Now that he has you can see the obvious connection.blaerghsd

Dragonstone and kings landing are close for the scale of westeros, but not that close. Snow doesn't need to go anywhere near kings landing to get to Dragonstone. On the other hand, he may have to contend with euron.

Snow was also summoned to King's Landing by Cersei. Doesn't mean he will actually go though.Back to last season and the Jon Snow reveal (since I just watched it yesterday ): I was surprised. I knew something would come of who his mother was but had assumed Ned was still his father. Since I was binge watching it all these past few months I didn't get to discuss it much or read about it for fear of spoilers. It got me emotionally thinking of Ned and not Jon. All the shit he took from Cat when he was in fact faithful.
7/17/2017 1:56:13 PM
I thought the scene with the soldiers might be a way of showing Arya that not all soldiers are bad, even if they fight for evil men/women. So instead of murdering her way through King's Landing she might take a more... selective approach
