How about recommendations for good car chargers? So many options, & not a solid apple charger to default to.

Holy Shit! If this is real...
7/17/2009 12:39:01 AM
I have no idea what the fuck that is.
7/17/2009 12:50:03 AM
its a game called Portal, a 2008 computer and xbox game
7/17/2009 1:16:39 AM
So recently i started plugging my iphone into my computer and it gives me the, "this device does not support charging" or whatever warning. It syncs fine but doesn't charge. Same usb port, same itunes installation. Is this a usb voltage issue? wtf.
7/17/2009 2:33:13 AM
so i might be late but i just figured out you can make your own ringtones for the iphone without having to pay the 1.00 ea. thats pretty sweet. now i have like 20 ringtones and probably wont use most of them. at least they were free.
7/17/2009 2:42:03 PM
does anybody know yet if the tricks to enable 3.0 tethering will result in crazy data charges? i haven't really needed tethering so i've ignored the conversation on it, but i could use it this evening. i just don't want to get charged out the wazoo by AT&T for doing it
7/17/2009 3:18:16 PM
7/17/2009 3:20:43 PM
^^I've been using it a lot and haven't been charged anything.
7/17/2009 3:22:18 PM
i've used it a few times with no issues. the general rule on all other phones i've had with at&t has been to just not abuse it. people have gotten huge bills (like 100+ pages, not $$ wise at that point) that outline every bit of their data usages and that usually means "stop or we're gonna charge your ass". after that they start charging for it. you'd have to move over a few gigs a month though to get to that point and be dl'ing torrents or something lol
7/17/2009 3:22:24 PM
well, i finally caved and ordered an iPhone. 3Gs, 16GB, white.
7/17/2009 5:37:35 PM
nice. i wish i had gotten a white one
7/17/2009 5:45:29 PM
I can't believe I paid $8 for a game but I loved this on PS2http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=299484013&mt=8

the old ones used firewire charging abilities on the original iphone (12V) bc it's obviously easier to make. new ones made for 3G's use 5V usb charging.not to mention the reviews blatantly state that it works with the 3G[Edited on July 17, 2009 at 11:42 PM. Reason : asf]

my solution is this:+that way there's none of that stretchy fucking cord bullshit and the cord is plenty long. and you can charge anything that's USB with that cigarette adapter. and the iphone cable thing can be used on the computer or whatever as well if needed, obviously.[Edited on July 18, 2009 at 12:06 AM. Reason : i've been doing it this way since the first iphone]I have this one actually: [Edited on July 18, 2009 at 12:07 AM. Reason : asdf]

Yeah the kensington bluetooth adapter I just got has a usb plug on it for charging. But I have a charger inside my armrest so I'll probably just get a regular charger and stick it in there if I need to.
7/18/2009 1:36:21 AM
just got a 16 GB 3GS yesterday and I was wondering if anybody knows how to use your itunes songs as ringtones (No i'm not looking through a 102 pages). Do you HAVE to buy the songs from itunes for it to work?
7/19/2009 11:58:29 PM
^look back a page or two...its been discussed.
7/20/2009 12:14:20 AM
Yeah, it was mentioned twice on the last page alone. Plus there's this awesome thing called google. You can even get to it from your brand new iPhone.
7/20/2009 4:10:23 AM
Jesus Christ people are stupid. Do some damn research on your own.
7/20/2009 6:55:08 AM
I finally found a theme with small enough icons to make the 5 rows not look cramped up. I think that was my biggest peeve with the 5 icon dock, it just looks so cluttered. Not with these icons though. Plus I think the glow to all the icons is pretty spiffy looking too.
7/20/2009 10:32:48 PM
what theme is that? looks pretty coool
7/20/2009 10:36:26 PM
The basic theme is called Illumine. But then I've modified it quite a bit. Plus a custom configured LiveClock mod, and the Illumine WeatherIcon. And obviously the 5 icon dock + 5 columns mod plus I removed the page and search dots. I've only been working on it for the last hour and a half or so. ]
7/20/2009 10:39:21 PM
Five column mod is awesome.and god damn i fucking hate how all icons get rearranged when you move one around [Edited on July 21, 2009 at 8:06 AM. Reason : asf]
7/21/2009 7:37:55 AM
what do you guys think is the best protective case for the iphone?
7/21/2009 11:16:26 AM
the car charger from at&t has an extra usb port in it. pretty nifty i think^i bought one of the zagg/invisible shield covers, but haven't put it on yet. i had one on my old ipod from 3 or so years ago and it was the best $25 i ever spent. it was awesome to see them being sold in-store at best buy instead of ordering it. right now i'm just using a feather case from the at&t store.[Edited on July 21, 2009 at 11:26 AM. ^^^I have one made by Incipio. It's basically a gel cover that fits around the phone, then it has a plastic casing that snaps over the back and 4 corners of the phone. Works great, not bulky at all and allows for rubbery paded sides and edges while the plastic backing keeps it from being sticky in my pockets. I also use a basic clear scratch guard on the front. I've replaced it once in 6 months.
7/21/2009 1:07:56 PM
it makes me lol that the big selling point of the new iPhone is that it can copy and paste
7/21/2009 1:13:34 PM
^^did they try using the "Find my iPhone" feature?
7/21/2009 1:16:17 PM
^^lol? what makes you say that...i'm guessing you saw 1 out of a dozen commercials for the iPhone and made the assumption that that is the biggest selling point and their only ad.
7/21/2009 1:29:10 PM
to be fair, it's kind of ridiculous that the feature was missing from day 1.
7/21/2009 1:36:27 PM
yeh, I was surprised to hear that it didn't have C/P ability!and yes, the only commercials I've seen recently have been for C/P! LyKEz OMg!!!! iT CANN CoPy AnD PaSTe NoW!!!!lol
7/21/2009 1:39:26 PM
it should have had copy/paste from the get go, but also to be fair it can copy/paste things that other phones can't (pictures, articles, etc).
7/21/2009 1:56:49 PM
7/21/2009 2:20:32 PM
^^don't forget google maps.
7/21/2009 2:33:26 PM
So last night I was working on the theme, today I'm working on the Lock Screen. I found a free alternative to Intelliscreen called LockInfo, which has a couple of pretty nice looking themes. Here's what my lock screen looks like now:
7/21/2009 4:41:10 PM
I liked intelliscreen. Where did you get lockinfo?Really liking the illumine theme you posted last night
7/21/2009 5:29:13 PM
Oh, I forgot it wasn't on one of the default sources in Cydia. You have to add http://david.ashman.com/beta/ to the list of sources and it will show up.
7/21/2009 5:43:07 PM
7/21/2009 7:13:13 PM
el nacho: what theme are you using and where did you get it from? i haven't gotten mine anywhere close to that
7/21/2009 7:35:14 PM
7/21/2009 7:42:30 PM
yeah um we're on the same side of this argument...
7/21/2009 7:47:28 PM
I'd argue windows mobile got copy paste right like 6 years ago. The select, then tap+hold for copy menu was intuitive out of the box. The iphone copy paste works ok i guess, but the selection is not anywhere near as nice. What would be better on the iphone, imo, is if i am on a text field 1 tap puts the cursor where i tapped, double tap selects word, tripple tap selects entire thing. To do a drag select you do a double tap but hold on the second tap and then it selects the text as you drag. This is essentially the way tap to click has worked in windows for centuries and its much more intuitive then the current system of tap wonder if it you waited long enough to let up, then try to move the hard to click selection brackets around.
7/21/2009 8:32:19 PM
7/21/2009 8:42:11 PM
^^you are joking right? Nothing you just said was intuitive. But extremely complex for a phone. I think the iPhones copy paste is intuitive enough and extremely easy to use.nothing about it has me wondering or hard to click. I don't click anything...you place your finger on the left and drag to select more words/letters...and do the same thing on the right. I don't have to click on anything...just tap and hold my finger in the general area.unless of course you have fat fingers, then you are referring to the idea of having a stylus to copy paste and not the actual copy/paste mechanism itself.[Edited on July 21, 2009 at 8:50 PM. 7/21/2009 8:47:54 PM
For once, I'm gonna side with Shaggy on this one. C&P on the iPhone gets the job done, but it's not nearly as intuitive or easy to use as it could be.
