I asked the same question but only explanation ive heard (not here, After The Thrones) is a weak shoulder shrug "magic".
6/28/2016 5:25:07 PM
^^That's the only thing I could think of. She would have to sneak into the room with all the faces and hold on to it in good condition for the entire trip back to Westeros. It isn't like her to just kill a random innocent bystander so she must have just found a dead body and cut the face off.[Edited on June 28, 2016 at 5:25 PM. Reason : ]
6/28/2016 5:25:13 PM
Honestly the face was only for the benefit of the audience. Not like any of the Freys know what she looks like. I guess Jamie would recognize her but she didn't have to be at that feast really.
6/28/2016 9:12:15 PM
If that was the writer's answer, it would be pretty fing lazy
6/28/2016 9:18:13 PM
^^ I doubt they'd do all that just for the audience after having her season arc end last year with her going blind from wearing one of the faces. This show is not generally in the habit of completely contradicting established rules they've built in this world
6/29/2016 9:06:41 AM
6/29/2016 9:22:03 AM
Either that doesn't really answer my question or you're saying that the only reason Arya was blinded the first time around was because she didn't use some of her own blood as tribute? Shouldn't they have explained that in the show?
6/29/2016 9:47:06 AM
I always interpreted it as she was blinded as punishment. They chose to blind her. Now it doesn't matter as she is outside their grasp.

i'm just saying that the faces aren't just a skin mask, ala Mission Impossible. There is an element of magic to the entire aspect of the Faceless Men.]

Right before she went blind Jagen said something along the lines of, "The faces are poison to someone who is not no one", which I take to mean as long as she still holds her identity the faces are poison. Now maybe the real rule is that Jagen or whoever actually decides whether someone gets punished or not, and that it's not really just magical poison to anyone with an identity. That being said, I think when she left the temple the last time he was pleased that she had kept her identity, so if he's involved in the "decision" of whether or not she gets poisoned than I can see where he would now let her use the faces. My point though, is that's not really explained at all, so just wondering if I missed something.
6/29/2016 11:22:01 AM
I was slightly disappointed we didn't see the Night's King in the final episode. That mother fucker has to be getting close to the wall.
6/29/2016 12:23:42 PM
For now, he can get as close as he wants, he has no way over/through....yet.
6/29/2016 12:41:22 PM
yeah when Bran goes through it will probably carry the mark and break the magic on the wall. maybe if they cut of his arm.. but I'm still holding out to the fact that he'll somehow walk again.
6/29/2016 2:07:48 PM
I still contend they could have written it better, but this is pretty funny[Edited on June 29, 2016 at 3:35 PM. Reason : a]

guess I've never really thought about this, but Dany is Jon Snow's aunt[Edited on July 1, 2016 at 10:41 AM. Reason : asdf]
7/1/2016 10:39:48 AM
Or half brother
7/1/2016 10:51:47 AM
^ only if the mad king was the one who knocked up lyanna..or i guess if dany was actually rhaegar's kid instead of sister..[Edited on July 1, 2016 at 11:02 AM. Reason : this shit is like maury]
7/1/2016 11:02:08 AM
Dany and Rhaegar are siblings with the same mother and father, Rhaegar is Jon's father. Seems pretty cut and dry to meI always assumed they were half brother/sister but that graphic (released by HBO btw) paints a different picture
7/1/2016 11:22:09 AM
Hasn't been confirmed that Rhaegar is the father, likely but not confirmed. As ^^ stated, mad king is still in play. After the Thrones guys point out that mad king is known for producing tough pregnancies. Also writers had lyanna whisper the details, which is either lazy or means they want it to be ambiguous. Was that released by the showrunners or HBO? Is it supposed to be canon?
7/1/2016 12:55:22 PM
Jon Blackfyre.
7/1/2016 4:40:09 PM
Catching up on this season, just one more episode to go. But the best post in this thread was when yall really thought Bran might take that guys hand. Excellence.
7/1/2016 8:21:07 PM
^^^ the graphic is official from HBO. Rhaegar is the father, also all of Elias pregnancies were tough and it was assumed it was her body, but maybe not
7/2/2016 3:55:27 PM
That's strange they broke this plot point outside of the show instead of just letting us hear Lyanna. I imagine there are a decent number of non book readers that don't know who the father is, I assumed they would cover that early next season.
7/3/2016 6:01:13 PM
They made a point of putting the Sansa little finger in the crypts of winter fell scene in the "previously on" part at the beginning. In that scene they say that rhaegar took lyanna and Sansa says he raped her
7/4/2016 12:28:37 AM
so? lyanna told ned details and they obscured what she said, why?
7/4/2016 2:47:11 AM
So they can have a big reveal to open next season. Still a ton of people who haven't read the books and don't keep up with fan theories. It'll also keep people talking until next season. Why didn't they say it? Maybe Jon is actually the mad king's bastard not Rhaegar's, etc.
7/4/2016 5:47:48 AM
Are you even reading this thread?
7/4/2016 12:37:56 PM
The only detail she obscured was his name. We heard that Robert would kill him, which makes him a targaryen. And rhaegar is the one that kidnapped her and I doubt ever took her to KL since he was very wary of his father the mad king.
7/4/2016 2:27:35 PM
So are we taking bets on when the next season will start? Summer 2017? Fall 2017?
7/8/2016 11:43:19 AM
they pushed back the release date so they could film during the winter months. I'd say Fall 2017.
7/8/2016 11:53:12 AM
wait, so more than a year from now?!?
7/8/2016 1:22:56 PM
I guess winter really is coming, eh?
7/8/2016 1:51:33 PM
Ugh, maybe Mr. GRRM will release his book to fill the gap.
7/8/2016 3:20:45 PM
Summer (July/August) Can't imagine HBO wanting to share season 7 with any NFL games in September.

One thing I don't get about the Iron Throne and Balon's death...The Iron Island folks make a big deal about "paying the iron price" and doing things a certain way. And yet Euron basically took over the throne in the most chicken shit manner possible, second to only sneaking up and stabbing his brother in the back. How does anyone respect that?Or have I misinterpreted the Iron Way?
7/11/2016 12:59:19 PM
"The iron price is a concept in the culture of the ironborn, and their local religion of the Drowned God. Paying the iron price means seizing something from those one has defeated rather than paying or trading for it."
7/11/2016 1:15:26 PM
I'm probably getting my books and show messed up again, but I thought the official word was that he died falling off the bridge in the storm. Obviously in the show we physically saw him get murdered, so it muddies our perspective since we're kind of 3rd person omniscient there. However, I was under the impression that the commonfolk and other nobles supposed did not generally suspect foul play.
7/11/2016 1:21:38 PM
Yeah I'm fully aware of that.
7/11/2016 1:21:53 PM
i mean i guess that's the answer to your question. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, you asked how anyone respects that? But that's not the scenario they're presented with. I can't remember if he owned up to it in the show or not either?[Edited on July 11, 2016 at 1:31 PM. Reason : ]

books haven't revealed it but it's heavily implied. show he outright says he killed him in front of a ton of people. it's a society of pirates and thieves so...
