That guy is upset with truex because he left an unstable situation that had a shelf life of "maybe" another year and got himself and his crew a longer term future with a stable situation? Gtfo, lol. JGR had more to do with his championship than Front Row anyways as Front Row wasnt dominating before they got in JGR equipment.

The rumors i read about a month ago said this would happen but that kyle busch would bring KBM up to cup and have himself and kurt on that team with jgr backing. Im skeptical that will happen but who knows

JGR equipment wasn't everything. look at the 19 and 20. it's the combination of good equipment, good driver, and an outstanding crew chief that won that championship last year. Pearn is one of the best we've seen in years, imo.

Door Bumper Clear had a pretty good take on this situation, as usual.

Curious to see how many of the crew choose to relocate. Gotta figure there will be at least a handful with local ties that won't come east.

I was dubious of the Kyle Busch rumor. One of my best friends is a Mars sponsor liaison with Busch/Gibbs and hasn't mentioned a thing about it. He'll drop some hints if there's some big NDA info coming.

[Edited on September 5, 2018 at 9:07 PM. Reason : but i guess there are bunch available at the end of this year, so probably just another backmarker]

"Not to mention if true he is taking care of his whole crew correct? So doesn’t that go counter to that guys opinion he realizes it’s more than just him and found a way to take care of himself and his whole crew. Visser will be fine in life(and financially) this is no different than a free agent in any sport going to get paid and he’s taking care of his crew too."

Yeah, so Joe Gibbs Racing bought Furniture Row Racing without paying a nickel for it.

This is all very much Formula 1-ish as far as conducting business. I hope I don't start hearing vague orders over the radio to a satellite in the future where he's told to not challenge for a position or let someone from the parent organization pass.

As far as the value of the charter, the BK Racing #23 charter plus equipment was bought in bankruptcy court for $2.08 million. So my rough guess is the charter was about a million.

All track activity yesterday and today washed out. Xfinity race rescheduled to 10am Monday.

They moved the Cup race start up to 1pm tomorrow in a hope to try and get it in, but there's a 63% chance of rain, so everyone is expecting Monday after the Xfinity race.

IRP was going to have an ARCA race Friday night and a Silver Crown race tonight but those are both declared rainouts, so their entire weekend was a washout.

NHRA Pro Stock driver Tanner Gray switches to NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. He is 19 and currently leading the points standings in only his 2nd season in the NHRA. I have mixed emotions about this. He was one of the up and coming stars in the NHRA. He's likable though, so he'll be good for the NASCAR ranks.

That is exactly what they are doing. They went to the chase format to try to keep people interested at the end of the season instead of going with a standard points system where finishing 40th in the final 2 races may seal a title for the points leader. The problem is they aren't going to outdraw the NFL no matter what they do. NASCAR is starting to looking like the beginning of MLS. The first few seasons they tweaked the rules of soccer a little bit to try to draw in casual fans and sports fans who said soccer is stupid. Instead the real soccer fans quit watching after a season or two while the people who never cared about the sport still didn't. Once the league went bankrupt they went back to standard soccer rules, folded some teams, and expanded into soccer friendly cities. The league is doing fine now.

If NASCAR wants to survive they need to expand into racing friendly cities, talk Chrysler into getting involved, and get rid of silly side shows like the chase and roval. They also need to modify the schedule. The first Martinsville race is at a time of year when it can be cold and even snow sometimes. They need to be someplace like Miami, or Texas that week and move Martinsville up a few weeks to when it is warmer in the Mid Atlantic states.

Best race held at charlotte in years. Fights for the lead, different strategies, a track that forces these guys to drive, controversy....if rusty wallace, dale earnhardt, jeff gordon, bill elliott and ricky rudd were out there people would be eating this shit up. That was a great race and the first one i didnt turn the channel on in a while

We sat in the upper terrace which ended up a great vantage point for this configuration. Sat there for the 2012 Coke 600 and it felt too high up, so I was a little ambivalent going in.

i was in the new veranda and we couldn't really see turns 3 through 6 or the backstretch chicane. i thought about getting tickets up top, but i knew they would run it if it rained and wanted covered seats. i may go up top next year.

first time i've ever been to a cup race where my favorite driver wins. to see Blaney do it in that fashion was awesome. i was freaking out.

Quote :
"The different packages will be tailored to the specific tracks on the Monster Energy Series circuit, with a combination of a smaller tapered spacer to reduce engine horsepower to a target goal of 550 (from 750) and aero ducts to foster tighter racing on a majority of speedways measuring longer than 1 mile. Both features will be in place for 17 of the 36 races next season, excepting the 2019 Daytona 500, which will run with traditional restrictor-plate rules. Five other races will be run with the smaller spacer, but without ducts.

The baseline aero elements of the 2019 rules package are a taller 8-inch by 61-inch rear spoiler, a larger front splitter with a 2-inch overhang, and a wider radiator pan that measures 37 inches wide in the front tapering to 31 inches at the rear. Those base changes will be in place at every race next season with the intent of adding downforce to stabilize handling, a break from a trend of downforce reduction from 2015-18."

not a fan of the 2014 big ass spoiler and huge splitter being back, plus the far too numerous 17 non all star aero races

what pisses me off is they've tried something like this once in xfinity and once in the all-star race and now we're willing to commit to it for a full season, but we haven't even tried the opposite (high power, low downforce) once. they won't even give it a shot.

We need less sideforce, but the sad thing is that in only a few years time we've gone from around 900hp to max of 550. These cars are going to be glued down, and I don't doubt that on some weekends the cup cars will be the slowest cars on track.

^550 for tracks over 1.2 miles, 750 otherwise

announced today no more driver adjustable track bar in 2019 which theoretically could increase passing by letting slow cars be slow
