Best part of cup race was when Little douche went 2 laps down because the pit crew he stole from swervez screwed him

He gave us another meme-worthy interview with the "move on"

Keith Rodden is not a cup crew chief anymore
9/18/2017 2:44:48 PM
I hate it for him, but he didn't deliver results. I'm sure there's more to the story on why that team didn't perform.
9/18/2017 2:51:26 PM
^1. driver2. crew chief3. how many #3 or #4 cars for a big team in the Cup Series really produce?

Kahne to the #95 Leavine Family Racing car next year.(Hendrick has to pay for Kahne next year anyway if no one else took him away, and the #95 team will have Hendrick cars and motors.)[Edited on September 20, 2017 at 12:33 PM. Reason : .]

I thought I saw that LFR would be RCR-affiliated.
9/20/2017 2:39:49 PM
They have an RCR alliance now. Changing to HMS nest year.
9/20/2017 4:42:40 PM
i got to go to first martinsville night race last night. timothy peters won $35k and a grandfather clock in the 200 lap SLM race. the hot dog chili was better than i remember too
9/24/2017 10:08:39 AM
maybe they'll have the Fall cup race under the lights
9/24/2017 10:37:51 AM
^could happen if we get a rain delay but prob too cold to do it intentionally. would need to move one of the dates to summer i'm thinkin
9/24/2017 10:46:36 AM
No colder than the spring race in the daytime. I went to that and almost froze one year.
9/24/2017 1:04:33 PM
fingers crossed for 18 speeding penalty[Edited on September 24, 2017 at 5:02 PM. Reason : 2 tires for the 78 ]
9/24/2017 5:01:00 PM
the 2 tire strategy worked out ok for the 78, but, considering how good he still was on 2 tires, i feel like they could've taken 4 and finished as good or better, especially with the additional cautions and restarts.and that wreck at the end of stage 2 is exactly why it's ridiculous to have a single heads up race decide the championship. one dumb wreck back in the pack takes the best car out. no big deal over the course of a season, but if that happens at homestead it's gonna suck.
9/24/2017 6:32:03 PM
I cant wait for the year where the championship winner finishes like 14th or some shit
9/24/2017 8:40:10 PM
^^ it happened last year and Johnson inherited the championship
9/25/2017 6:28:38 AM
^edwards was so butt hurt he quit the sport
9/25/2017 7:28:24 AM
You can cool believe that if the 88 dominated all year and then got hosed at homestead, then the format would be changing.

^cup needs to run the 2017 Indy busch race package and maybe it would look that good
10/1/2017 8:44:37 AM
If we're just going to suck the horsepower out of the cars, have them run V6's.
10/1/2017 10:40:53 AM
good race. sucks that the douche won.
10/1/2017 6:49:07 PM
^This!
10/1/2017 8:15:05 PM
Chase elliott choked that race away so fucking hard. Gave up a 4 second lead in 30 laps and never once tried to change lanes and didnt try to block busch at all.
10/2/2017 12:34:38 PM
I don't think there's anything Chase could've done to finish better than 2nd. If he goes high, Busch still gets around him or worst case Chase ends up wrecked.

10/4/2017 9:31:57 PM
^in his defense i think main point was the 65/25/10 - tracks/teams/nascar percentage of tv money is bull crap. i do think all the teams combined should get more than 2.5 times the sanctioning body. maybe they could do 60/35/5 in the next tv deal but no clue really[Edited on October 4, 2017 at 9:50 PM. Reason : x]
10/4/2017 9:50:00 PM
^ Yeah, the teams get that money. Old stars of the sport are getting pushed out so they can hire young guys that will drive for a fraction of the money because the teams' revenue sources like sponsorship are drying up. Or you hire guys like Menard or Gray Gaulding where they pay to drive the car.CART/IRL Split 2.0 here we come.Hamlin embodies a line of thinking in that headline which is why I consider Brian France to be one of the biggest fucking dumbshits ever in the history of the sport of auto racing. Auto racing is not, nor will it ever be, basketball or football. The economic structures are entirely different. For starters, in the NBA or any other stick-and-ball sport, the teams host the game and collect the ticket revenue at their stadium or arena. Hendrick Motorsports does not own Charlotte and keep 100% of the ticket revenue there as they race the "away teams". Emulating those systems then is fitting a square peg into a round hole. The only way to even start having some NBA-style or NFL-style system is all the race teams disappear, the drivers become employees of NASCAR and they all race the exact same car a la IROC, even to the point of you kick the car manufacturers out of the sport and have a spec engine. Then we can compare NASCAR to the NBA.Back when half the field in CART was sponsored by cigarette companies, they had some very high salary drivers, even post-Split. Then cigarette advertising got clamped down on, the teams couldn't find the sponsorship to replace them, and a couple of what paid vs. paying drivers remained were reported to be making less in a year than Tennessee dirt late model drivers. Economics drive the salaries, and NASCAR's economics have declined.

Uh, this came out of nowhere. F1 to mostly ESPN2 in 2018. Think this is a step down from the current NBC deal as ESPN will co-opt Sky Sports' broadcasters instead of the U.S.-produced broadcast that's been here for quite some time, and ESPN per Sports Business Daily story below is believed to be paying nothing for it.Sad day for David Hobbs and Steve Matchett who've been doing F1 commentary here for I think around 20 years.

looks like they've completely dicked up the track with trackbite. i wish tracks would quick fucking with the racing surface. the cars don't need more grip. they need old pavement and tires that wear out. that creates passing and passing creates good racing.
10/6/2017 7:08:12 PM
The 6-7-8-9 complex is one turn too many. Just creating turns to create turns. It'd've been better to ditch 7 and instead you go straight from 6 to 8. That way you generate more speed, more braking, and more possible passing opportunities at 8. As it's setup, the exit of 6 to 9 is just going to be follow the guy in front of you.[Edited on October 6, 2017 at 7:44 PM. Reason : /]

they needed to slow them down through 14 and 15 so they they can use rain tiresALMS ran a makeshift chicane made of tire barriers on the backstretch when they ran the old roval and it was ok. only problem is it was too narrow to pass.[Edited on October 7, 2017 at 12:18 PM. Reason : l]
