What I took that to mean is Caleb has contributed to forming this corrupt, predeterministic world more than most, including Dempsey himself. By removing outliers one by one, he has insured the locked fates of everyone.

Is anyone here a fan of Maeve? I really don't like that character, not sure if it's the actress or what. This season has been my favorite so far and they officially announced last week that it'll be back for season 4.
5/1/2020 1:12:28 PM
I do like her but her arc has been weird this season
5/1/2020 4:48:43 PM
I actually like her character and actress a lot...much more than Delores

I honestly had a hard time determining which I wanted to win during their battle scene. I'm sort of happy, for once, that the writers took the easy way out and did not force the issue.

So was the Charlotte/Dolores just waiting in the basement with Robo-Billy hanging out in the shadows so he could make a dramatic entrance when the real Billy showed up?"Hey can I come out now? We've been waiting down here for like 2 days.""NO! He'll walk in any minute now!"Also, when Caleb woke up the Dolores version that didn't have all of its skin on. Man, that gave me some real Terminator vibes, as did Bernard vs. Billy.

^Assuming you meant Charlotte. One thing about that -- she crawled out completely burned and missing her hair. Obviously a human wouldn't be able to survive it. Then when Billy shows up she is almost completely normal again. So nobody is asking any questions about how she suddenly has all of her hair back and stuff?

The tub was to slow the rot.
5/5/2020 8:20:23 PM
^^haha oops yes I meant Charlotte. Agreed on that, but I was under the impression the people that carbombed her KNEW she wasn't human. Point being, they needed to finish the job. Very good point though, about her ability to rebuild herself.

I thought Serac was the one that bombed her car until the said it was Delores Prime. Serac makes more sense to me. I wouldn't think that Delores had so many assets that she could dispose of them once she was done. The writing on this whole season was inconsistent and full of holes. In some places is was vague to the point of being pointless. I wasn't impressed. You could remove Bernard from the season entirely and you might not even notice.

The best comment I've read so far about the finale - That hotel must really, really respect the Do Not Disturb sign.

I don't trust this show. Does season 3 devolve as this gentleman has said? https://birthmoviesdeath.com/2020/05/08/westworld-is-trash-now

I think my issue with the show is where we started and where we’ve ended up is disappointing. The acting is good, there is an interesting story that you have to pay attention and follow, and there have been some great scenes and moments in all the seasons. But ultimately we are just watching what seems to be another futuristic AI v Humans story that feels like it’s been done. And that’s fine, it’s a story that’s been told many different ways and always provides good action as inevitably the AI can do amazing things and not be killed and then you get AI v AI scenes that amount to the superhero v superhero moments. But I guess coming out of season 1 I just didn’t expect this to be the destination. The park and characters surrounding the story of the park were interesting. And now season 1 seems pretty pointless. Maybe it will come full circle and all make sense but as of now I just wanted more of the park and that all seemed so unique but now it just feels like it’s been done before.

^ that's true, the tone of the show is very different vs season 1.But I would also argue it's currently the best executed super AI vs humanity IP to date. It's eclipsed Terminator 2 to me.
5/12/2020 6:33:16 PM
^^agreed. Still a great show but almost (or all?) everything I loved about it is kinda gone.

I think it would be hard to do that and, in some ways, I feel they addressed that when they first exposed us to the other parks. The other parks are the same stories in a different setting, meaning that those characters would have the same internal struggles and conflict of choice/identity that are present in the Westworld. Even more to the point, they carry this theme to state several times that even our own world isn’t dissimilar from that of the park and we all have the same struggles as depicted in the Westworld in Season 1.With that said, I haven’t thought about the journey and where it all began vs. where we are now, but I can say that the show is definitively good and I don’t ever leave feeling like it took a convoluted plot to get us to what could easily be argued as an entirely different show. There is also clearly a lot coming since Billy Bot is doing fidelity tests in the future and Bernard has a reason to wake up. That future season could end up being just machine vs machine battle porn, but I’m optimistic that it’ll still be heavily focused on identifying the nature of human identity and choice through that season and leave us with something meaningful.

Finally got around to season 3 and I'm about half way through. It seems disappointing compared to the previous two seasons.
4/24/2021 11:33:51 AM
intial concept in season 1 was goodit wasn't meant to go past more than that and i can tell the writers are struggling.
4/25/2021 5:43:26 AM
They focused too much on the AI, and not enough on how humans might interact with technology that frees us of any consequences

Did anyone watch Season 4? I feel like this show really fell out of the public eye. I enjoyed S4 quite a bit, but was just as confused as ever on a lot of it.
11/3/2022 3:32:35 PM
I've been meaning to watch Season 4, but Season 3 and half of Season 2 has pretty much fallen out of my head. I haven't managed to find the drive to rewatch the prior seasons so that I can catch back up.
11/3/2022 3:57:28 PM
^ I just watched a 10 min recap of each season on YouTube beforehand. It reminded me of things enough to understand what was going on. I think S4 was better than S3.
11/3/2022 4:00:03 PM
Canceled.
11/4/2022 4:28:09 PM
Maybe I will watch it now.
11/4/2022 6:52:23 PM
I never did finish season 3lol
11/4/2022 10:10:04 PM
well fuck
11/7/2022 3:08:11 PM
Admittedly, the way they left it at the end of S4 is still actually a pretty decent ending to the series. Would have liked to see more of this universe, but oh well.Sidenote, keep an eye out for a cameo from Trevor from GTA in S4. Yes, the actor who played Trevor shows up in the first few seasons as a host, but he fully embraces the character of Trevor himself at one point. Probably just an easter egg from the writers.
11/7/2022 3:38:53 PM
The first season or 2 were so awesome. Then it got so convoluted. RIP
11/8/2022 1:53:18 AM
^^I agree, the way S4 ended is a pretty good ending. IMO S4 is so far removed from the first 3 seasons that it's almost a standalone show. Either way, S1 & S2 are my favorites, they started straying after.
