sigh...this is the part where you've lost me because you think going against societal norms won't be faced with resistance. surprise!

also, I hate the usage of "phobia" as a feels term nowadays.

Societal norm up until very recently has been complete and total ostracization of people with this condition (disorder, whatever, I don't care). You and others have chosen to uphold this norm, which is to be expected of someone who hasn't thought longer than 2 seconds about it.

These people have it shitty, and no it isn't a choice how they are wired. By choosing the side of resistance over acceptance, you are perpetuating this shitty life.

But there is hope! With some extremely relatively minor adjustments to your tiny world, even you can create a better place for these poor transgendered bastards!

I don't see how you can call them 'enablers'. Psychologists have been dealing with this issue for decades and concluded that hormone therapy and reassignment surgery is the way to deal with this issue. adultswim and others are merely echoing what's been recommended by psychologists and social scientists. The only alternative is repressing those feelings, and repressing anything never turns out well.

"2. I don't believe they should be allowed to go into other bathrooms, because it's only going to cause problems. I don't really care if a female comes into my bathroom - I really don't give a shit. But there are lots of females out there that would care if a male came into theirs. Are they bigots? I don't know, but the fact of the matter is that many women would be alarmed. And they shouldn't be chastised for complaining about it."

Well there are no easy answers here. Some transpeople start to resemble the other sex if they get far along in hormone treatment, especially if they've been on hormones since they were young. If Caitlyn could 'pass' as a woman (she's far too old for that though), it would create just as many problems if she went into the men's bathroom as if she went into the women's. And some men get pretty violent when they're around a transwoman, let alone seeing one in a bathroom or locker room.

^^^ Your ask of them is to act like a man when they are wired as a woman.

Our ask of you is to not be a dick about it even though you are wired to be one.

Do you see the difference?

What rights?

Sex reassignment surgery and changes against societal norms will always make people uncomfortable, that doesn't make them prejudice transphobic bigots.

Quote :
"i meant people in general who are transphobic, which is the majority of people."

I think the majority of people just don't care, but when you throw a picture of Jenner on ESPN people's knee jerk reaction will always be "gross". Not because they hate Trans people, but because someone surgically trying to change their sex is objectively not attractive, as is the idea of castration and surgery to look like something you are not.

Feeling like a girl in a man's body must be a living hell, but that suffering is just how they were born, not society being afraid of a man with tits. What I mean is that even in 100% pro trans society, trans people would still hate being trans, thats why I think it is a disorder... its a problem you are born with and it sucks and I honestly feel bad for them.

Sucks for them right?

are you for real?

trans people are routinely discriminated against when it comes to housing and employment. the majority of US states have zero protection for transpeople, which is probably why so many of them get assaulted for just walking down the street at night. you honestly think that the way transpeople are treated in America is fine the way it is? or are you just bothered by the whole "bathroom" thing, which seems to be the persistent argument that's tossed around in this thread? there's a reason transpeople are part of the LGBT equal rights movement. i'm sure you can figure out what that reason is if you try hard enough.

right. just like people were "uncomfortable" with gays, interracial marriage, integrated schools, etc.

so even if they function like legs and help the person out, you just wanna be the guy that gets to point out "they're not real" just for the sake of preserving 'reality'

haha

you'd be a hoot at a gay wedding: "you're not REALLY married!!!1"

I was watching 20/20 and they were profiling two little twin boys. One boy was typical, he liked soldiers, guns, and sports. The other one was like unicorns, pink and purple sheets, and painted his nails. When asked how he describes himself, he said “I’m like a girl”. Even the girls at school thought of him as ‘one of them’ (probably not to the point he used their bathroom). Other accounts I’ve read said similar things, where basically a boy would identify strongly with girls and their interests to the point of feeling he had the wrong body.

Really I think it’s one of those things that you can’t understand unless you experience it yourself (obviously impossible).

Sure, because, gender dysphoria-based intense depression and anxiety aside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_identity_disorder), dudes liking purple and pink and painting their nails is a widely accepted and encouraged practice!! Right??

It isn't as bad as you make it out to be. Jenner gets a magazine cover and endless praise for the media, and even gets a courage award over a girl killed by cancer.

What does that have to do with anything?

What does that have to do with their rights as an American citizen? Maybe you can read my post if you try hard enough.

If I all of a sudden identify as a chick and have a surgery, none of my rights change. Read my posts before you go on your TransTirade.

lol, I'm sure the experience of a millionaire trans person in California is totally representative of the average trans person's.

none of your rights would change? if you all of the sudden identify as a chick and have a surgery, you can legally be denied housing, schooling, adoption, employment, etc. based solely on your trans identity in many states.

The only "right" I can think of that would be problematic is marriage. Are there laws against a marriage between a man and a woman that used to be a man? Or vice versa? What are the laws around officially changing your gender on paper? Or can you even do that?

Edit - I forgot about adoption. I can see how it would be problematic for a transperson to adopt a child.

I don't see how that is possible in today's world. Unless your job is somehow rigidly tied to your gender. Like I could see a stripper get fired if her boss found out she used to be a dude.
