^^Curious why Step 1 isn't a DNA test?
6/9/2022 1:44:09 AM
Because the point of this legislation is to control people through fear. Violating their body is more effective than a blood test.

I'm assuming the drag show restrictions are from public property? I didn't see the details for that particular part of the bill.
5/30/2023 1:13:33 PM
there should be no drag show restrictions from the state whatsoever
5/30/2023 1:24:08 PM
From my perspective, seems like most people didn’t give a shit about drag shows until they started showing up for children’s story time. When I go to my child’s daycare and read to the class, I don’t do anything to enforce the idea that I’m a male that’s happy in my skin. Just seems like an unnecessary layer put on top of story time.
5/30/2023 2:30:19 PM
god forbid your kid learns to be accepting of others who aren’t like them it’s no different than someone dressing up as a fictional character and reading them a story
5/30/2023 2:36:18 PM
5/30/2023 2:50:46 PM
gotta gin up that outrage somehow it’s just so much easier to just not get up in arms over letting people live how they want to liveI can’t imagine living my life freaking out over such things
5/30/2023 2:53:00 PM
Hey I’m not arguing for or against here. But your argument:
5/30/2023 3:12:18 PM
it’s the same would you freak out about a clown coming in and reading something not related to being a clown?
5/30/2023 3:16:27 PM
still waiting on that answer
6/1/2023 4:44:34 PM
I would freak out about a clown dressing up as a clown in general. But if it's exposure you want, why drag? Why not something a little more realistic? How about a transgender person dressed professionally for whatever career in which they work? Have them come read at story time like that? A transgender person working as a paramedic, or one in construction, ballet, etc. Why does it have to be drag, which is often an over-the-top exaggeration of the female gender. What 3 year old wouldn't want to dress up in bright clothing, flashy makeup, and glitter all over the place? And then when they get home from one of these story hours and do want to dress up like that, parents are like "Welp, guess that's that. Time for gender dysphoria therapy"
6/1/2023 10:10:09 PM
What a wild jump at the end there
6/1/2023 10:17:20 PM
my godI can’t even with that last paragraph. like what the fuck, man?would you seriously freak out about a clown coming into your kids classroom?[Edited on June 1, 2023 at 10:20 PM. Reason : .]
6/1/2023 10:17:42 PM
That last sentence was obviously sarcasm. Guess I should have included a /sarcasm there.Clowns? No, not really. Clowns have also long been established as children's entertainment. There's precedence there. Do clowns relate to whatever story they're telling? No. Have clowns been hired to make children laugh for like what, the last 150 years or more? Yea. Plus, McDonalds.
6/2/2023 8:10:35 AM
again, that’s no different than someone in drag reading to kids
6/2/2023 10:30:22 AM
or... a girl wearing boy's shoes
6/2/2023 10:44:01 AM
^Not sure where that came from. I don't think anybody here has an issue with boys dressing in girls' shoes. My daughter will randomly paint my son's nails and he loves it. He's always wanting to wear her stuff, etc, and we don't discourage that at all.
6/2/2023 11:03:27 AM
since we’re on the topic of drag:[link] https://mollyknight.substack.com/p/drag-culture-has-always-been-part?r=7dijz&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post[/link]

I feel like politics aside, 16 should be the bare minimum for a kid to make the decision to change gendershow can anyone think anything otherwise?you can't just let kids do whatever they want
6/4/2023 6:00:17 PM
That runs counter to the folks who think it's ok to give puberty blockers to children. Puberty blockers should be given in early puberty around 10 or 11, according to the Mayo Clinic.Fucking 10 or 11. We're talking about humans who have been able to successfully wipe their ass for about 5 or 6 years. And it's ok to give them drugs that could potentially permanently affect their ability to have children down the road?
6/4/2023 10:41:40 PM
do you know more than the medical professionals who have spent their career researching the field/recommending medical guidelines based on their expertise?
6/4/2023 11:04:31 PM
I know that they take an oath to do no harm.Doing something to a 10 year old that could potentially fuck them up down the road, in my book, is harm. But hey, these parents can shop around until they find an activist medical professional. It's their right as parents.

Do you disagree that doing something to a 10 year old for which they cannot possibly understand the repercussions, is harm?

Dr's do irreversible cosmetic genital surgery on tons of male babies every year, those babies certainly have no say in that procedure.[Edited on June 5, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Reason : E]
6/5/2023 1:29:47 PM
Sure they do. And hasn't there been a movement against that as well? And if you want to argue orders of magnitude, having a foreskin removed is pretty low on the scale vs irreversible infertility.
6/5/2023 1:42:10 PM
6/5/2023 3:11:52 PM
I'm sorry but I can't empathize with a 10 year old who has their whole life ahead of them saying they want to be the opposite of whatever gender they currently are, and parents acting on it. At that age, things change like the wind. Sure, I know that there has to be a record of gender dysphoric traits before they consider these types of therapies, but again, you're doing something to your child that could be irreversible. Why not give it a few more years? In my humble opinion, puberty blockers are tantamount to child abuse. No amount of calcium supplements are going to make up for lost bone density during this period - and that's just one potential problem. You're robbing Peter(biology) to pay Paul (mental health).
6/5/2023 4:20:35 PM
Robbing the Peter to create Paulina.
6/6/2023 6:47:52 AM
^^I think my best answer to that is that I don't really understand. And since I don't understand I choose to trust the medical professionals involved and hope they have the best interests at heart and truly look at the full picture including psychology (which it seems they do, or are supposed to anyway). If there were just a few rogue Dr's I might have a harder time, but it seems like treatments are endorse by medical societies, and rare.[Edited on June 6, 2023 at 9:58 AM. Reason : E]
